Stack - The Mirage Ratings and Reviews
I've dined at Stack numerous times. The food and service were great, but I didn't give this visit 5 stars overall because: I noted in my reservation this dinner was a birthday celebration.
No one at Stack acknowledged that at all. Very disappointing. I can buy my own dessert, but it was my daughter's birthday and I wanted the restaurant to give her a birthday greeting or song.
Stack at Mirage has been a regular haunt for me for several years. From many years ago when I met Gene Simmons (from Kiss) there, to many great meals later, their steaks are, in my opinion, some of the best in Vegas. And the sides are incredible! The bar is great and its just an overall fantastic place to unwind after a convention with a good friend (or date), glass of wine and great meal!
Drinks were good. Service was decent. My Cowboy steak was not good. It was tough, over done and took almost an hour for all of it to come out. We were there for a business meal and I will not be back. Overall meal took about 3 hours. Not ok for a party of 3.
I picked this place based on the favorable reviews. I'm not sure if everything was just bad that night, but I'm really surprised so many people gave 5 star reviews. To start, the music is a bit loud for the type of experience I was expecting. However, I can deal with that considering it's open to the casino. I ordered my first glass of wine which was poured on the lower end, but acceptable. I can overlook a short pour on a $14 glass of wine if the food was good. The biggest disappointment was the New York Strip. It was cooked as expected, but the cut of meat was just plain bad. There was no marbling and it was not cut well. It took forever to chew. I've had way better steaks from the local supermarket. It was totally unacceptable. To make matters worse, the second glass of wine I ordered was literally at most half the amount of a normal pour. The other two people at my table were stunned at how short the pour was for a $14 glass of wine. Stack should be embarrassed at the quality of the food and lack of care to make the meal memorable and enjoyable. I never post negative reviews, but this had to be said.
We always eat here when in Vegas. Top quality food at reasonable prices. Only complaint so far, is service can be a bit slow especially when you are trying to make a show. Ask for the Fixed Price menu, it's a bargain when compared to their regular price menu.
We started with the hot rock appetizer. Delicious! We also had the filet and the tater tots. If you don't try the adult tater tots, you're doing it all wrong. The cocktails were also wonderful. Vince and Manny took excellent care of us. Will definitely be returning!
The food at Stack was amazing, one of my favorite meals of my trip to Vegas. The wine list was pretty disappointing for a steak restaurant and the orange lighting was too much for me, keeping this from being a 5-star experience but it was otherwise fantastic.
A few years ago I would have reccomended Stack to anyone and everyone visiting Vegas...until now. I had not been back in about two years and returned for drinks and appetizers this weekend when visiting with family. The food seemed to be microwaved and the what was once great beef tartare might have been left out in room temperature way too long before serving.
I would be willing to give it one last chance, but what I once considered "the best place to eat in Vegas" was has become very disappointing.
Loved the food. Had scallops with a side dish of roasted mushrooms. Server was efficient. The dining room is very attractive.
My issue is with the hostess or the practices of seating solo guests. When asked if I wanted to be in the bar area, which I know is pretty typical, I requested the dining room. My reservation was for 6:30, fairly early in Vegas. The hostess led me through the dining room to a small table in the extreme farthest corner of the room which was really dark and right next to a kitchen door with lots of activity in and out. My preference was to eat in the dining room, not in the dark corner by myself! She did honor my request to move to a table a little farther along the wall. I asked the server about this tendency to pick the worst table for a solo guest. He replied that there were a lot of reservations coming in at 7:30 and they would need those four top tables. Of course I sat down at 6:30. So, by 7:30, I would be gone from that table and it would be available. Every guest should be valued regardless of the size of the party, even if they are eating alone.
Took my wife for an early romantic dinner here before we went to a show. The place has a nice ambiance. We were seated right away, but if took almost 15 minutes before someone took our drink order and brought us a menu to look over. Once we finally got our drinks and food they were very good. They only thing lacking was the service and like I said it was early it wasn't like they were dealing with a dinner rush.
