Stables Ranch Grille - Tubac Golf Resort
In 1996 the resort was again in the limelight, hosting notables Rene Russo and Kevin Costner during the filming of 'Tin Cup'. The gathering place of this fabulous resort hideaway, Stables is known for its simply perfect steaks, fresh fish and unique Mexican specialties. Executive Chef John Wooters creates the menus, directs the kitchen and enjoys planning banquet and specialty wine and tequila dinners. Stables is known throughout the region for its ambiance, cuisine and hospitality.
Good over all experience but the food compared to last years Easter Day was down somewhat. We love the pot roast dinner and ordered it again this time. It was a smaller portion of meat this time with very little gravy. last year there was ample gravy to go with the mashed potatoes. It was tasty though and we would come back again
We are frequent diners here, but this experience was beyond bad. They did not have the Open Table reservation so we made them look in the computer to find it. They set up a table for us. The drinks weren't what we ordered. It took 90 minutes to be served dinner, and it wasn't what some of us ordered. No one came to the table in the interim to check on us. They can't seem to handle a full restaurant in season on weekends.
We dine here whenever we are Arizona. Great food, wine, service and views. Martha was our waitress snd she was awesome, even with two grandchildren.
We have been to the Stables before; however, this time the food seemed overpriced and the chairs were extremely uncomfortable due to the seat conditions. I was surprised that even though we were greeted with, “ I see that we're celebrating a birthday”, there was no reference to it when we were offered the Dessert Menu. Perhaps I was expecting to much!
We sat out on the outside patio, and it was marvelous. Solo guitar player, propane heat lamps for warmth. My girlfried ordered the filet and enjoyed it. I had quesadilla from the bar menu and it was good as well. Bread pudding for dessert was awesome.Nice view of the golf course. Indoor dining area was very cozy, will have to save that for next time
Dinner first night; good food, good service. Dinner second night; after asking the very pleasant waitress what was taking so long several times, we finally asked to speak to manager after 45 minutes. He seemed rushed, and explained that he had a big party to deal with. another 10 minutes and our dinner arrived. (If the party was expected, why wasn't additional help.?)
Breakfast on last day. We ordered our breakfast, watched others get seated, served and again no food. We never saw our waitress after she took our order. After 30 minutes we asked another waiter and he said he would find out. He never returned. After another 15 minutes we walked back to the kitchen area and asked about our food (Come on eggs, sausage and toast?) . Another person said they would find out. We finally left after 50 ,minutes. People who came in after us were finished! As we left, a waiter came out to say, finally "it's coming shortly."
Stables was enjoyable. Choices offered in Tubac are limited and we were ready for a quieter restaurant offering individually prepared food, rather than the more common Mexican and barbeque type choices.
Great meal - I had the bone in tomahawk porkchop and have never had a better pork chop. My sister had the prime rib and loved it. Service was great, pricing was good and food was excellent
Stables restaurant has good food, however, the service is not good at all. Had dinner, breakfast and lunch in the restaurant and all three times, lousy service. Out dinner server was good, but not great. Breakfast server was awful, and lunch almost awful. Have a great resort, need to pick up their service!
Especially excellent for extensive gluten-free options clearly identified on the menu. The pot roast ...yum yum.
Beautiful spot. Always delicious food, specialty drinks are unusual and varied. Book ahead in the winter months, place is very popular Dec-April, and deservedly so.
We have always enjoyed the Stables and chose it for a birthday celebration
The service was not attentive but the big disappointment was in one meal, the steak. It was tough!!!! When I told the waiter he was very indifferent.
I did take it home for our dog! Should have sent my plate back.
Poor service, poor attention to detail
We had a lovely anniversary dinner here on a Tuesday night. We were staying at the resort, which we loved. The dining room overlooks the golf course, a small lake and the snow capped Santa RIta Mountains in the background. The food was very good, I had the salmon/mango chutney and my husband had the filet which he said was perfectly cooked and tasty. We had excellent service from Josh, a very polished, personable waiter who knew when to check on us without interrupting conversation. We also had some very nice reasonably priced wine with our meal. This is a special place with terrific ambiance.
Dinner was mixed but generally good..shrimp wrapped in bacon appetizer was good (not great) - visually not great but tasted good. I ordered Chilean Sea Bass but it was extraordinarily bland with no flavor..ok fishy taste..should have been pan seared at least in soy sauce with some flavorings (esp for the price) - sent it back - rice that came with was horrid - green and weird taste...got pork schnitzel instead which was good (again not great) ..hubby had grilled salmon which was good (not great -have had better elsewhere). Service a little mixed. Good drinks.
Food was average. I expected better for the price. But overall, not bad.
We had a six fifteen PM reservations. I checked into the servers desk at 5:30. We decided to sit on the patio and hear Angel play and sing. We informed the desk where we were and to come and get us when our table was ready. No one came to get us, I went and checked on our reservation at 6:45, I was told others were seated at our table.
I asked a manager regarding our situation, we were seated at in the bar area. Which was not what we we looking for in dinning that evening.
Since Stables Ranch Grille is my favorite restaurant in Tubac my husband took me there for Valentine's dinner. We were seated at an amazing window table overlooking the golf course. It was an unusually cold and rainy evening and although we were seated inside they had fire heaters going just outside on the patio which added to the ambiance. We chose to order from the menu rather than order their Valentine special. My appetizer was a generous portion of grilled artichoke hearts served with sun dried tomatoes. For my entree I ordered "tomahawk" pork chop with grilled brussel sprouts and grilled sweet potatoes. The chop and the grilled veggies were cooked to perfection. My husband ordered the salmon. We both loved our meals. The wait staff were warm, friendly and efficient. One of the best Valentine dinners in a long time. Stables Ranch Grille is fine dining at it's best. Fabulous food in an elegant warm friendly relaxed atmosphere. Looking forward to our next meal there. Rated *
I had the pot roast which was very nice and tender. The gravy and mashed potatoes were very good also but the brussel sprouts were very hard ( not quite cooked maybe) hard to cut and harder to chew.
We enjoyed a great meal!
Service seemed a bit rushed.
Food was not as good as prior visits Hamburger bun was stale and burger was not hot
We had a great lunch with friends we had a perfect table overlooking the golf course on a sunny day!
STABLES is our most favorite restaurant in our area. We can always count on everything being delightful. Josh has been our favorite server, he is such an asset to their staff.
Outstanding ambiance and the food was spectacular. I had the sea bass with rice and spinach and it was cooked to perfection and very flavorful. My wife had the filet and she said it was the best ever. The waiter apologized for not bringing a steak knife and she told him no worries as she could cut the filet with a butter knife it was so tender.
Excellent as usual.
Waitress had the driest personality....we think she was a dishwasher & that they were shorthanded so had her work tables.
Other than that, we love this place
Gorgeous setting, friendly and efficient staff and good food...a hard combo to beat. We were there for lunch.
We stayed overnight in the hotel and had a reservation for dinner. We were greeted and seated immediately at our table and given water. 23 minutes later, with at least two wait staff walking around our table again and again, we were never even smiled at or given any indication that we were noticed. Finally a member of our party went to the bar to order our drinks. The bar server graciously brought our drinks to the dining room. We then asked him if there was room to eat in the bar and we moved. The service in the bar was great but the food was really just so so. We decided to give the dining room another chance for breakfast. While our service at breakfast was great our meal again was just so so. The facility itself is gorgeous!
Outstanding service and high quality food. Best is the experience and aviance of the building and property. I encourage to come early and enjoy the views.
The food looked delicious but three out of our six dishes came out cold. The server was not very attentive and was very slow with ever step of dinner (wine, apps, main dishes, dessert). We had great company and were happy to be all together but left feeling disappointed I had chosen this restaurant for our special occasion. On the flip side, we ate breakfast there twice (we stayed at the resort) and the service and food was wonderful.
The atmosphere and service were okay, but their chicken enchiladas were excellent.
Food was good but a little over valued. Probably the best food in Tubac.
This was Christmas Day dinner, which was prix fixe. There were three entree choices, and I chose the Cornish hen, which was very tasty, and very ample in size. The vegetable was not the one advertised, but was fine to me. However, the waiter didn’t mention it, and that might have made other diners unhappy. My date had the flounder, which was ok, but I’m glad I had the hen. My corn chowder and his antipasto were both good starters; and the dual pumpkin cheesecake and flourless chocolate torte were a heavenly end to the holiday meal. With a glass of red wine each, we went back to our room happy and VERY full!
We reserved for dinner via Open Table. The only seating options at 6p were a table immediately adjacent to the hostess stand/front door or the bar. I felt we were treated like second-class citizens because we booked via Open Table and not direct with the hotel/restaurant. Very disappointing.
The prime rib was outstanding, best I've ever eaten. Our server, Josh, was professional, personable with a warm smile. It was a treat not to feel rushed and we very much appreciated the leisurely pace.
I have been to Stables before and had a great experience but this time was a bit disappointing. My wife and I ordered the same meal but hers was delivered cold and mine was not very flavorful. The service was good at first, but once our meals were served she completely disappeared. After waiting for her to return I finally had to flag down a different server. For dessert we ordered a Creme brulle. It came in a coffee cup and was cold yogurt (not custard) with a couple of blackberries and a sliced strawberry on top. No way did it taste like or even resemble a Creme Brulle.
In their defence it was Christmas eve and they were very busy before we arrived so maybe they were all just tired and out of the proper ingredients.
Wonderful menu choices. A bit pricy but a wonderful meal and dining experience. Great service
Old convert Stables
Daytime view of pond and wildlife.
Lovely setting..great food..excellent service
This is our favorite place to eat in Tubac! We especially love their Carnitas dish! The ambiance is fantastic and the view of the golf course with the cows in the background adds to the experience!
All five of us had different meals. All five meals were outstanding.
Exc restaurant...ambiance, views outside, service and price
