Stables Ranch Grille - Tubac Golf Resort
In 1996 the resort was again in the limelight, hosting notables Rene Russo and Kevin Costner during the filming of 'Tin Cup'. The gathering place of this fabulous resort hideaway, Stables is known for its simply perfect steaks, fresh fish and unique Mexican specialties. Executive Chef John Wooters creates the menus, directs the kitchen and enjoys planning banquet and specialty wine and tequila dinners. Stables is known throughout the region for its ambiance, cuisine and hospitality.
Very Nice !
We had hair cooked into one of our dishes
It was replaced but no further compensation or apology was offered
I found this to be very disturbing
Considering we eat here often
Birthday. Great view great food great service
Tin Cup Margarita is the best Margarita I have ever had in a restaurant! The Chile Relleno is perfect. Light golden brown, gently fried and stuffed with heavenly melted cheese. Well worth the drive from Tucson!
Tried their Tuesday Pasta Night but was not as impressed as ordering a fresh pasta dish
We love the Tubac Resort - our son and daughter in law got married there 4 years ago. We always try to take a weekend during the summer. It's the perfect getaway from Tucson! Everyone we came across couldn't be nicer and more helpful.
We came to the grill based on a review of the menu on your website. unfortunately there was nothing on the menu that coincided with the menu on the website. Additionally we thought the prices were a little high based on the location. I realize this is a resort but it is in the middle of nowhere. I highly recommend that you change the menu on the website so that people don't get something that's totally unexpected.
Salads were bright, fresh and tasty
Salmon with couscous
Shrimp scampi was not over garlic, onions were not overpowering. Could have had another shrimp and pasta but VG.
Bread above par for this area.
Ask for waiter Guillermo; he is by far the best waiter.
Beware of any other male waiter who is oblivious to customers orders nor needs! I had to ask 3 times for lemons and cream for my coffee. Brought me a cup of cold “bottom of the pot—very stale and acidy” coffeewhich I couldn’t drink! When I asked for a fresh cup, ( he should have remembered I needed cream in my coffee) filled the cup so high There was no room!
I specifically asked for eggs Med-well (whites solid, yoke soft) not only did he bring me hard eggs but sat my partner meal in front of me saying “you had the...). Also he was never around. I had to ask the hostess for Items and finally called for Guillermo to say how I had wished I was seated in his section. Our meal was very disappointing, Simply because of the terrible service which ruined our otherwise lovely meal at Stables!
Our waitress Rosa was very good and attentive. We have a handicapped daughter and Rosa made sure that she was well taken care of during the meal. The food was well prepared and served hot. The selections from the menu met everyone's desire. For dessert I had the Bread Pudding which was wonderful. Everyone in our party of five enjoyed the evening.
The views are spectacular and the restaurant has a quiet charm. The food is usually good so I was surprised when my meal was below par.
Our reservation was on a Wednesday and fortunately for us the special was Prime Rib.
The food, service and wine was exceptional and I look forward to another great experience at Stables.
The service was great and so was the food. We were all very happy, and can't wait to visit this restaurant again.
Both of our meals we’re amazing. Anytime in Tubac we will dine there. Thank you
Breakfast at Stables is always good. Pretty quiet during the summer months but still a great place for
breakfast. Fabulous view anytime of the year.
Dinner for four, meal was excellent, service was timely and not overly attentive, highly recommend for the special evening .
Beautiful setting, attentive staff, excellent food.
A perfect anniversary getaway for us - a wonderful setting with a great room and meals!
It was a perfect way to have a Birthday dinner. The table had a great view of the pond and the resting cows. Our dinner was delicious from beginning to end, especially the Chocolate Lava Cake. The staff is wonderful. It's a favorite place to eat.
Excellent service and the view was outstanding. Our dinner was also excellent.
Good over all experience but the food compared to last years Easter Day was down somewhat. We love the pot roast dinner and ordered it again this time. It was a smaller portion of meat this time with very little gravy. last year there was ample gravy to go with the mashed potatoes. It was tasty though and we would come back again
We are frequent diners here, but this experience was beyond bad. They did not have the Open Table reservation so we made them look in the computer to find it. They set up a table for us. The drinks weren't what we ordered. It took 90 minutes to be served dinner, and it wasn't what some of us ordered. No one came to the table in the interim to check on us. They can't seem to handle a full restaurant in season on weekends.
We dine here whenever we are Arizona. Great food, wine, service and views. Martha was our waitress snd she was awesome, even with two grandchildren.
We have been to the Stables before; however, this time the food seemed overpriced and the chairs were extremely uncomfortable due to the seat conditions. I was surprised that even though we were greeted with, “ I see that we're celebrating a birthday”, there was no reference to it when we were offered the Dessert Menu. Perhaps I was expecting to much!
We sat out on the outside patio, and it was marvelous. Solo guitar player, propane heat lamps for warmth. My girlfried ordered the filet and enjoyed it. I had quesadilla from the bar menu and it was good as well. Bread pudding for dessert was awesome.Nice view of the golf course. Indoor dining area was very cozy, will have to save that for next time
Dinner first night; good food, good service. Dinner second night; after asking the very pleasant waitress what was taking so long several times, we finally asked to speak to manager after 45 minutes. He seemed rushed, and explained that he had a big party to deal with. another 10 minutes and our dinner arrived. (If the party was expected, why wasn't additional help.?)
Breakfast on last day. We ordered our breakfast, watched others get seated, served and again no food. We never saw our waitress after she took our order. After 30 minutes we asked another waiter and he said he would find out. He never returned. After another 15 minutes we walked back to the kitchen area and asked about our food (Come on eggs, sausage and toast?) . Another person said they would find out. We finally left after 50 ,minutes. People who came in after us were finished! As we left, a waiter came out to say, finally "it's coming shortly."
Stables was enjoyable. Choices offered in Tubac are limited and we were ready for a quieter restaurant offering individually prepared food, rather than the more common Mexican and barbeque type choices.
Great meal - I had the bone in tomahawk porkchop and have never had a better pork chop. My sister had the prime rib and loved it. Service was great, pricing was good and food was excellent
Stables restaurant has good food, however, the service is not good at all. Had dinner, breakfast and lunch in the restaurant and all three times, lousy service. Out dinner server was good, but not great. Breakfast server was awful, and lunch almost awful. Have a great resort, need to pick up their service!
Especially excellent for extensive gluten-free options clearly identified on the menu. The pot roast ...yum yum.
Beautiful spot. Always delicious food, specialty drinks are unusual and varied. Book ahead in the winter months, place is very popular Dec-April, and deservedly so.
We have always enjoyed the Stables and chose it for a birthday celebration
The service was not attentive but the big disappointment was in one meal, the steak. It was tough!!!! When I told the waiter he was very indifferent.
I did take it home for our dog! Should have sent my plate back.
Poor service, poor attention to detail
We had a lovely anniversary dinner here on a Tuesday night. We were staying at the resort, which we loved. The dining room overlooks the golf course, a small lake and the snow capped Santa RIta Mountains in the background. The food was very good, I had the salmon/mango chutney and my husband had the filet which he said was perfectly cooked and tasty. We had excellent service from Josh, a very polished, personable waiter who knew when to check on us without interrupting conversation. We also had some very nice reasonably priced wine with our meal. This is a special place with terrific ambiance.
Dinner was mixed but generally good..shrimp wrapped in bacon appetizer was good (not great) - visually not great but tasted good. I ordered Chilean Sea Bass but it was extraordinarily bland with no flavor..ok fishy taste..should have been pan seared at least in soy sauce with some flavorings (esp for the price) - sent it back - rice that came with was horrid - green and weird taste...got pork schnitzel instead which was good (again not great) ..hubby had grilled salmon which was good (not great -have had better elsewhere). Service a little mixed. Good drinks.
Food was average. I expected better for the price. But overall, not bad.
We had a six fifteen PM reservations. I checked into the servers desk at 5:30. We decided to sit on the patio and hear Angel play and sing. We informed the desk where we were and to come and get us when our table was ready. No one came to get us, I went and checked on our reservation at 6:45, I was told others were seated at our table.
I asked a manager regarding our situation, we were seated at in the bar area. Which was not what we we looking for in dinning that evening.
Since Stables Ranch Grille is my favorite restaurant in Tubac my husband took me there for Valentine's dinner. We were seated at an amazing window table overlooking the golf course. It was an unusually cold and rainy evening and although we were seated inside they had fire heaters going just outside on the patio which added to the ambiance. We chose to order from the menu rather than order their Valentine special. My appetizer was a generous portion of grilled artichoke hearts served with sun dried tomatoes. For my entree I ordered "tomahawk" pork chop with grilled brussel sprouts and grilled sweet potatoes. The chop and the grilled veggies were cooked to perfection. My husband ordered the salmon. We both loved our meals. The wait staff were warm, friendly and efficient. One of the best Valentine dinners in a long time. Stables Ranch Grille is fine dining at it's best. Fabulous food in an elegant warm friendly relaxed atmosphere. Looking forward to our next meal there. Rated *
I had the pot roast which was very nice and tender. The gravy and mashed potatoes were very good also but the brussel sprouts were very hard ( not quite cooked maybe) hard to cut and harder to chew.
We enjoyed a great meal!
Service seemed a bit rushed.
