St. Paul Grill and Bar Ratings and Reviews
Everything is perfect as always With only one exception about this very thing before. On the cob salad the bacon( I think it’s Nueske’s bacon? )which is really good flavor for bacon appropriate for the salad it’s a big hefty chunks of fat and hard to chew. Just try to be as that the seller needs a little bit more of a delicate bacon component. Otherwise, everything exceptional
The St Paul Grill has always been my favorite. This time, however, it was not as good as on previous occasions. The crab cakes , which are always wonderful, we’re like warm, and the Brussel sprouts were over cooked and tasteless. The best part of the meal was the wine (excellent) and the apple tart dessert.
Had another amazing meal @ St. Paul Grill but felt I needed to remove a star for not having valet service available unless you were an overnight guest.
My 5 block walk in -5 degree weather (both ways) puts a smudge on any event. I dropped my 3 guests off at the door before the meal, but they insisted on walking with me after the meal. Unfortunately, the hike became more of the conversation than the excellent food and wine.
I've lived in MN pretty much all of my life. But I have traveled. Another favorite is Mama's Fish House in Maui. Remember The Blue Horse on University before it became a bar? That's the only restaurant that could have held a cradle to the Grill. Recently dined at revamped Lexington Restaurant. Just as pricy as Grill, but much snootier, weird room-specific menus, unfriendly waitstaff. Never have I been let down by the Grill. A friend takes me every year for my birthday. I make the reservations, tell them of birthday (or other occasion) and please, God, a BOOTH. I was just there--had the original recipe for a vodka Collins, shrimp cocktail, classic wedge salad, filet, hashed Browns filled with bacon and onions. Oh la la. Gratis decadent chocolate mini tart. Way too chocolately for me. My only suggestion would be a second option. But hey, it's free. I give the Grill 5 stars without fail. I once hosted a New Years Eve party with a huge window view of the park with its holiday lighting. Just a gem of a place all around.
This occasion, Our server was well informed and knew the menu and wine selections. She offered great suggestions. The food was very good and ingredients were fresh. All in all, very good.
The week before we stopped had lunch in the bar/lounge area. Food was very good again, however our server was coughing and sneezing all over the place. She was obviously very sick and should not have been waiting on us and handling food! Ick! Very disappointing!
We love the Saint Paul Grill! Every time we go we say we should come more often and plan to stay overnight, it's so beautiful and the service excellent! They never rush you they're always friendly and they just do a great job! The food is amazing! Highly recommend this restaurant!
We went to the St. Paul Grill for New Year's Eve dinner and also for New Year's Day brunch. Both occasions were wonderful with delicious food, great service and we were given a window table which allowed us a great view of all the Christmas lights near the hotel and in Rice park. It was just fabulous. A New Year's we will not soon forget.
We had dinner and drinks after a concert and being there completely made our night! Wes the bartender was very energetic and he made the most delicious drinks around! As you can imagine the food and the drinks were spendy but well worth it! I would recommend going there for a special event but give your self plenty of time if you are going to a show.
I generally love coming here, as it's a holiday treat for us every year. Unfortunately, this time, my steak was egregiously undercooked and under seasoned. It was on the raw side of rare in the center, and just generally flavorless. Not at all what you expect from a dry aged ribeye. I'm sure we'll still be back next December, but I will be apprehensive about ordering a steak again, which is disappointing since it had been a go to for me in the past.
I have never had a bad dish, much less a bad experience at The Grill. Another smashing performance!! Family in from San Fransico and Dublin rated their meals “World Class!!” Service is second to none and stiff classy cocktails. Bring a good attitude and The St. Paul deliveres the rest.
We were a party of three who went for my husband's birthday. We had appetizers, sides of vegetables, and entrees (two aged ribeyes and one scallops). Portion sizes for meats are VERY large, and it would have been good to know ahead of time. Although we were very hungry and hearty eaters, we could have easily split the order of ribeye!
Went to Grill for holiday lunch. Usually food and service is outstanding. Today, not so much. Our table was right by the kitchen so I went back to the office smelling like french fry grease. I expected with a reservation made over a month in advance we would have a prime table. The fries were over cooked and cold, the bread on my turkey sandwich was dry and over toasted. Not the best lunch or experience.
