St. Paul Grill and Bar Ratings and Reviews
Despite reservations for a 12:30 lunch we had to wait with my 89-year old mother for a table for 30 minutes. Other people seemed to be seated before us. Service was spotty. No bread basket until right before lunch was served. Food was OK but not worth the price.
I don’t appreciate the hostess “scolding” me for making a reservation for 4 when we ended up with two. Not acceptable ever. But, definitely not acceptable at an establishment like the St. Paul Grill. Otherwise, my guest, who is regular, and I had a good experience.
Our family enjoyed a wonderful brunch prior to attending a show at the Ordway. The service for our party of 10 was excellent. The food was terrific and everyone, including children, vegetarians and gluten free, had options to choose from on the menu. We enjoyed the mimosas as well. You really can’t go wrong here. The St Paul Hotel is a long cherished landmark in the city and is beautifully maintained. The restaurant is traditionally furnished and looks out over Rice Park, magically lit with Christmas lights. Outstanding!
We enjoyed a delicious brunch before the theater. The Maryland Crab Cakes Benedict was amazing! The poached eggs were cooked to perfection, and the crab cakes were bursting with lump crabmeat. Bloody Marys and Screwdrivers were pleasing to the palette. We'll definitely return for another amazing meal!
It's very nice to have the chance to enjoy an excellent birthday dinner at the classic Saint Paul Hotel before seeing a show 1-block away at the Ordway. The St. Paul Grill didn't disappoint us in any way. In fact, even though my expectations were high, they once again exceeded them. My walleye was probably the best walleye I've had all year and my wife's tenderloin was equally impressive. We also shared a beet salad and a few sides and everything was terrific. Most important, our service was perfect; friendly, helpful, and prompt. Our server also picked up on the birthday celebration and hit a home run with a wonderful piece of gluten-free cake to finish our meal. if you have tickets to a show at the Ordway, don't pass up the opportunity to enjoy a great dinner at the St. Paul Grill.
Excellent service and food as always! I highly recommend the salmon, the hoisin sauce compliments the fish, yum!
Our server was attentive and replenished our drinks promptly.
This restaurant is our main go-to for pre- Ordway and Xcel events, and for post-event drinks. I also recommend the Cranberry Beret cocktail.
I was very disappointed in the meal. I had a beet salad that was dry and boring. My meal mate had a chicken salad sandwich that was ordinary. I expect more based on price. By the time we were done the bill was about 100 and we did not have drinks. Way overpriced for poor quality meal. I will not be back.
This was a special occasion. The St Paul Grill isn't an everyday dining place. The prices are high, but absolutely doesn't disappoint. Beautiful view out the window of lit up Rice park. And the restaurant itself - lovely. Most importantly, the food was excellent! Worth trying!
How can you say anything bad about the St. Paul grill? Reservation was exact, seating was per the request, service was impeccable, and food, as always .... delicious. Never been disappointed there. A little spendy but as the saying goes... you get what you pay for. Perfect resteraunt for any occasion, or none at all. Best in the twin cities, by far!!
My wife and I enjoyed an early dinner prior to attending the opera. Service was friendly, quick, attentive. Escargot appetizer was very good, French onion soup and spinach salad were excellent. My steak was prepared and seasoned perfectly, my wife had the sea bass special and said it was one of the best fish dinners she has eaten. The Grill is pricey but never disappoints, we will be back.
Our overall experience from our party of 9 was .....outstanding. Lovely, lovely atmosphere. The food was wonderful, seating wonderful. The waitress was quite attentive and polite to everyone at the table. The only mishap would of been when our dessert was served if we would of been asked if we would like coffee served as well. It was a wonderful dining experience and the hotel and decorations are just lovely!! Thank you for making this a special day!
