Always top notch.
Great walleye. Very pleasant room, like the rest of the hotel dated, but very well preserved.
Great service and food. The Traditional and the Maryland Crabcake Benedicts were outstanding.
We celebrated a friends birthday and it was st. Patrick’s Day. The people who had the stew loved it. The waiter was great and he brought out a piece of birthday cake fo my friend with out asking. Always good food and also got a window seat.
Our waitress was amazing!
We made the reservation for 1:45 pm but ended up arriving an hour early. They had no problem seating us and we had our usual great experience. But later that night, we got an email from Open Table saying that we hadn't kept our reservation. I don't especially like Open Table and this would be one reason for not using them. We have been coming to the St Paul Grill for about 13 years for all kinds of occasions: anniversaries, Easter, concerts at the Ordway, Frozen Faceoff playoffs, Frozen Four playoffs. We hope to carry on the tradition!
Chicken pot pie was excellent - pure comfort food!
Took my unit here for a thank you lunch for their good work. Service was prompt and attentive.
It's an elegant room in classic old St. Paul tradition.
Food was flavorful and presented well. Menu had some very nice traditional specials. I recommend that as your best value. One person ordered the petit filet mignon. It was tasty but very petit and served with a small side of sautéed vegetables. A little skimpy for $28. She had to fill up on the bread basket to finish out her lunch!
I love this place for special occasions. Just be prepared for the price.
Been a favorite of ours for years. Selected to celbrate our 14th wedding anniversary. Did not disappoint
Simply had a good meal, at a good restaurant, which I knew I could depend on ( read as not trendy... ), for some international visitors from Asia and Europe. Everything was great.
Excellent! We always try to go when visiting our daughter.
Everything was great, but the prices were ridiculously high. If you want to spend a weeks pay and have a good time this is the place for dinner. I have been to many restaurants all over the world but have rarely had to pay these kind of prices. The food was great and the service was outstanding, but 79 dollars for a ribeye steak and $8.50 more if you want a baked potato and still more for a vegetable is a bit much even for a nice place.
Great food and service!!!!
Great atmosphere, good food, and reasonable pricing for this type of dining experience
The food here was absolutely fantastic! We had the Filet Minion and the Salmon among many delicious sides. They also had several gluten free options which was nice to have. The atmosphere was very cozy and perfect for a nice date night. Would highly recommend.
Thanks to a great bar staff that remembers us every state hockey Tournament time,Shout out to Theresa and Mickey. Also to Diane for our nice dinner table👍Our family tradition 🏒
Our entries ( walleye and tenderloin dinners were ok. It was disappointing as we’ve always had stellar food at the Grille
They seem to be slowly going down hill. Seared Ahi tuna itself was good but aioli with it was strange and not appealing. Ahi is one of my favorites but this was overwhelmingly my least favorite preparation of it. My wife got soggy zucchini as her 'mixed seasonal vegetables'. Someone other than our server brought our food and we were then unable to find our server to let her know of our disappointment.
This was on top of two other recent experiences there that were underwhelming.
Overall a disappointing experience and disappointed in loosing what has been a favorite restaurant.
Awesome, thanks for great food and atmosphere
My husband and I shared the duck. We both agreed it was one of the best meals we had every had. We shall return!
As always the food and service was spectacular. Our Grandsons had a Birthday and Hockey State win and they treated them with special desserts and extra special service. Love the St Paul Hotel and Grill!!
Had a nice dinner. Service was great. It was nice being able to spend time without being rushed. The food could have been a little warmer.
We came to try the pot pie. My husband thought it was amazing. Loved the bread and crab cakes for dinner!
A friend once said to me, "there's only one place to go in St. Paul: the Grill." Now, there are MANY places to eat in St. Paul with interesting ingredients, thoughtfully prepared and creatively presented. There are many locations that are stunning, or cozy, or fun, or impressive. But it is true: the Grill is the best.
Very good food - and those hash browns are ridiculous!
Seated immediately, good table by a window, attentive waitress, food spectacular!!! Went to SPG for the pot pie which had a good reputation. Far exceeded our high expectations. Flourless chocolate cake was amazing, including just-right whipped cream.
Our dining experience simply could not have been more magnificent! Every course of the meal was perfect, and our server Charles was a delight! All the staff work together as a team. Well managed and a true gem of a restaurant!
Food is good and service is attentive when the wait staff shows up. More than once when I have lunch at the St Paul Grill the service is slow and I have to ask for the check - they need to be sensitive to people who met for business lunches has to go back to work and not the leisure 3 hours lunch any more.
Wonderful service, great food, nice ambiance
Spendy but fun and delicious! If you want to save some money, eat in the bar. Very noisy on event nights.
Food came very quickly. Attentive servers, love the ambiance
Fabulous brunch. Food was great as was the service. Such a beautiful St. Paul treasure.
It was our first time and it was great. Our Server Ben (or Bill) was great and attentive. He treated our pre-teen children as if they were normal guests and treated them very well. The food was delicious and plentiful. We will definitely be back.
Brunch was amazing! The staff were friendly and on top of it. The food fantastic!
We requested and received a lovely window seat. The selections offered were quite broad; you could eat lightly or have a big steak. I had the wild rice soup and the roasted beet salad. Both were delicious as was the tables bread basket. My husband had the scallops with risotto and he loved them. Our other guests had duck breast (perfectly medium doneness) and the walleye, grilled. Both were huge servings! Take home for lunch. Our table service was proficient & professional, but she would disappear for long periods leaving us to flag down for water, etc. She finally dropped the check and never returned to thank us or see if we were ready to go. They were very busy. It was a fun time with lots of celebrating parties throughout the dining room enjoying themselves. I was glad we tucked in near the window so we could talk and enjoy the snowing outside. Great evening.
Excellent steak! Mushroom side was great as well. All in all, we had an excellent dinner.
St. Paul Grill has always been and still is my favorite restaurant in St. Paul. The food is amazing!
We had wonderfully prepared food at the St Paul Grill. The 10 oz sirloin was thick, tender and prepared perfectly. The trout was flavorful. It has a great atmosphere and the staff was very attentive, but did not rush us. I appreciate the parking validation for a nearby ramp. It was a very lovely evening.
