St. Paul Grill and Bar
We had lunch at the St. Paul Grill before going to the Holiday Bazaar at the Landmark Center, and we were very pleased with our lunch. The food was wonderful, the service was exceptional and we love the look and feel of the dining area. We arrived a little early, and by the time we had received out food the place was really packed, and the noise level had gone up (although that didn't bother us, and we were able to have a regular conversation at our table). I highly recommend them for any kind of special meal, we have come here for years and have always had great food and a lovely experience. Thank you to the staff of the St. Paul Grill and the hotel!
I had the most wonderful holiday version of an Old Fashioned. You must give it a try!
Our waiter was terrific: attentive but no overbearing and very nice. Made good suggestions and was fine with our small orders: Charlies -- great idea by the way.
Excellent in all respects.
Always great food perfectly served. Terrific service. Never disappointed.
I always enjoy the St. Paul Hotel Grille. The scallops were excellent and loved it on a bed of veggies rather than pasta or rice. Will be back in a couple of weeks1
We were welcomed, promptly seated and greeted by the waitstaff. Our wait person was a consummate professional in every way - attentive, warm, and knowledgeable. Our meals were very good and fairly priced but it was our wait person who made the experience exemplary and memorable.
The Grill lived up to its standards once again. I so much appreciate having a restaurant like the Grill in downtown St. Paul
We came in after a show at the Ordway and only bar seating was available. We were able to get a table but they clearly were not staffed for a full bar at 3:30. Ahi tuna sliders were adequate, way to much bun for the size of the tuna and the tuna was not seared, there was no light crust as expected, pickles were good, sauce was sparse.
What a beautiful view of lights at hotel and in Rice Park! I brought a friend who had not been here. She has already made a reservation to return!
Brunch was pretty good. I enjoyed my trout and eggs, yummy. And Rob, our wait staff, was great! He truly does a great job. The Grill is a nice place to go.
Worst dining experience ever following the play at the Ordway. Our hash browns had hair in it, our steak and pork chops were overcooked and the GM did everything possible to avoid us. Two hour and a half dinner and we laughed about our experience. Stay away from this place!
Excellent service and food, Views of Rice Park with it Christmas lights, great experience
Highly overpriced for food quality and presentation. Service was 'fine' and glad we were comped 1 of our very blah, dry, couldn't even tell what it was entrees; however, the service wasn't 'overly' welcoming. When I asked the hostess about the live music (I'd read online days prior), she didn't know for sure if playing or what time nor did she attempt to find out, while not even busy. The best part of this place is the bar with the beautiful back-bar, bartender service was very good and very accommodating. Views of Rice Park from a window table or booth that has window view (not right next to but still easily viewed) really helps the ambience; however, still doesn't help the poor flavors of food. Escargot just 'ok' - not made/served in the traditional ramiken-style dish; looked like cream cheese puffs but obviously with snails in. Oysters were fine, nothing great. Bourbon pork chops were cooked good; however, lacked in flavor even with the 'bourbon marinade'; Shrimp scampi would have done well to have a small mound of vermicelli or similar. Trout - just remove from menu, if you can't get a decent piece of fish and/or can't make it appealing to eat. Was flat, dry, no sauce, no flavor, I had maybe 4 bites and just thought it could have been sawdust and I wouldn't have known the difference! While your wine list was thorough, it lacked enough affordable glasses/bottles. We did get a red for $48-49; however having more options in $34-42 range' would be appreciated. Valet and coat check is always nice, so thank you for that! Oh actually, my favorite thing about this place is their large and beautiful restrooms!
Unfortunately, between paying the valet and walking to our car, my sisters wallet was stolen from out of her purse!
Security found it on your cameras. Man walked up and grabbed it as she was assisting my stepmother to our car.
Filed report with St Paul Police.
Within 1 hour, the had charged $1,300 on her credit cards at Target for gift cards.
We had a wonderful lunch, celebrating our step mothers 92nd birthday, but this then put a damper on our day!
A good gluten friendly place to eat with knowledgable staff.
In-laws were in town and we wanted to entertain them. Our server was really friendly and helpful. Food was good but not anything that we could not have had at any other steak house in town. We enjoyed our table by the window and looking at the holiday lights in the park across the street. Really pretty view and the martinis were also very good.
The prices have gone up considerably since the last time we were there. The portions are much smaller. Paid$18 for a small dish of brussel sprouts. The service was slow. The Salmon was great but the steak was not hot.
I've reviewed the St. Paul Grill many times, and it has always been a great experience. The service is unparalleled, the food a high-end version of a steak and chop house with some great seafood, excellently prepared. Some places are just old-time reliable. The world-class collection of single-malt scotches announce to the world that this is a power-house venue for all kinds of occasions.I have never taken a guest here who did not come away with warm memories of a memorable meal.
Had dinner before the Ordway performance. Noise not as bad as some places but still more than I would like. Two had walleye and felt the sauce overwhelmed it.
The St Paul Grill continues to serve up one of the more delightful experiences in St Paul
As always, St. Paul Grille didn’t disappoint. We were there for our anniversary, which we do every year. Our steaks were cooked perfectly. Our waiter Charlie was attentive and friendly. We will be there on Christmas Eve and are looking forward to it. Thanks for complimentary dessert for anniversary. But also get Banana Creme Pie!
My favorite place . Food is consistently good.
Everything is prepared as ordered
Everything was perfect!! The service, beverages and meal were to perfection!
The St. Paul Grill never disappoints. The food is always outstanding, the service is always top notch, and the drinks are always great. Our extended family went out to celebrate my brother's and my birthdays, and my only minor "complaint" is the noise level--this is definitely not an intimate spot, but it was a Friday evening and we've been there many, many times so this wasn't a surprise. We'll be back for many more.
Most of the appetizers were over cooked. The pate was a silver dollar size. The calamari n garden salad were great- the chicken had little bits of meat on a skewer n over cooked.
Excellent waitress making our dining experience wonderful!
We got engaged their on 11/21/97, were married 11/21/98 and we celebrate our anniversary there every year. Always exceptional service and food.
The St. Paul Grill is as reliable and as comforting as anywhere imaginable. Salmon is prepared exactly the way you specified years ago when you came to this great restaurant years ago. You can equally be confident that the remarkable Bone In Tender as well as the specialty Hash Brown will be on the menu years from now as it is today.
Wine list has an excellent representation of domestic and old world notable wines. Service is professional, measured, and nonintrusive.
But above all it is an extremely well managed restaurant. They know the preferences of the regulars and yet they treat new customers as though they are family members.
I always look forward to going back to this great restaurant whenever that I am in town.
Great experience for our group of 4.
Had been to this restaurant 5+ years ago and knew I had to dine again. Great food beverages and ambience!
I thought the lunch menu was exceptional. So many items that sounded delicious. I’ve been to St. Paul Grill in the evening but never for lunch. Everything about my dining experience was outstanding. The food, the service and the ambiance. It gives you a “special “ feel. I will make St Paul Grill one of my go to lunch restaurants.
We were glad to be there AFTER the crowd left! The ladst occasion was for dinner and it was deafening!!!!
Great place for Sunday brunch. The crab cakes were very good. Will come again.
not a single dish was good, from appetizer, to main course, to dessert
Poor service. Maybe just our waitress. She seemed rude and did not put in the drink I ordered. After we finished our entree and had already packed our leftovers, she came and threw down the dessert menu and said "dessert." Feeling pressure to order, we the lava cake, quickly ate it and paid the bill.
Our waitress was excellent and very personable. She attended to each of us individually and even presented a sweet treat to the birthday girl free of charge. Loved having a really good, hot cup of tea which is hard to get in most restaurants. Food was excellent, with a good variety of choices other than fries with a sandwich.
It's very rare I give a not so good review... But you were off today St. Paul Grill. I didn't receive my dining points, the glass of bubbles I ordered was warm, after we got our drink the bartender didn't return to us to order for quite some time. When I asked about the seafood tower he quickly stated "no, we don't have that" and walked away. No offering of something I might like instead or mention of anything they're featuring. We had our one drink and went to Herbie's. You guys weren't nearly as busy as Herbie's and we received much better service from them. One good note, the valet parking gentleman were very kind, friendly and helpful.
Great as always. One of our favorites. Great family experience.
Great food, great service and a great ambience. A little noisy but overall a great experience.
