At Martin’s has been on my restaurant bucket list pretty much since I moved to Dallas. It was always on the lists of top most romantic restaurants, I’d read about the champagne brie soup being THE must order dish (it is), and knew they were known for having live piano nightly. But when a birthday or anniversary would come up, there was always a newer, more trendy restaurant that took precedent. Sadly, it took learning of their closing to finally prompt me to pay them a visit on their last weekend. You just can’t beat the dark ambiance with shelves full of books and jeweled sconces. I was glad to be able to take it all in one time, with songs from the “Peanuts” theme to “Your Song” playing from the piano next to the bar. The escargot, lamb and chocolate terrine were all fabulous and of course the star- that magical, creamy soup. The only disappointment was that we were celebrating my husband’s birthday which was noted on the reservation and there was no acknowledgement. Also when I asked if we could wait after appetizers to order entrees, the waiter wasn’t willing to accommodate and said they were going to have 100 people coming in tonight so he couldn’t guarantee if we didn’t order then that we’d be served which I found off putting. He also made a fuss about me asking if they could portion the Brie soup into two cups so my husband and I could share and told me they were short handed, he doesn’t have time to give the chef special instructions.

A favorite restaurant of ours for many years. Sad to know it’s closing on Greenville but looking forward to the next opening!

This restaurant is definitely a throwback to an earlier time. That is its charm. You feel like you’re in a ‘fancy’ restaurant. The service is super attentive but not intrusive. The host and waiter both congratulated us on our anniversary and our dessert had it ‘written’ on the plate. They definitely go out of the way to make your occasion special. Our food dishes were well prepared and nicely presented. Is it the best French food in Dallas? It is not. Is it a great French restaurant to have a quiet, romantic meal with your wife on your anniversary? It is indeed.

This is one of our favorite restaurants. I had the red snapper oscar which was perfectly prepared. My girlfriend, who has a lot of food allergies, ordered the steak Diane, which she has had before and usually loves. This trip the steak tasted watery like it was not completely thawed prior to cooking. I realize that sometime special request call for deviations in preparation, but it is typically not so noticeable. Charlie did a great job of taking care of us. We'll be back, and hope for a better prepared steak for my girlfriend.

The piano player was superior and a reason that we return. Our waiter, Charlie, was ever present and did a very good job. The host was cordial and repeated my surname upon arrival and at our departure. Everyone in my party had nothing but compliments about the restaurant.

St. Martin’s has been our go to for excellent dining and lovely and warm atmosphere for years. The service is great and the food perfect without fail. The welcome is warm and courteous, and of course there is the piano player! I love listening to him play while we enjoy our meal. The wine list is extensive and if you are unsure what to choose, the owner will help. The cocktails are are also so good. We love this place!

We went to celebrate my wife’s birthday. We sat in a booth nearby the pianist. The service was good. The food was good. Parking can be a little bit tricky since there’s not many parking spaces in the front or back.

Took friends here to celebrate a milestone wedding anniversary and it was fantastic, as always. Champagne brie soup is still a hit. Our table ordered crab cakes, the famous soup, lobster bisque, duck, a red snapper dish, and beef bourguignon and all 3 dishes were outstanding. The entire staff was pleasant and friendly. Piano player was still a hit. Great night. Highly recommend.

The lamb chops are divine. The crab cakes are good. Our server was most helpful and LOVE the friendly bartender! Live piano sets the tone for a very romantic evening, this place has it all going on if you are looking for “old school” We’ll be back!

In my mind, St. Martin is the iconic choice for a great French food in east Dallas. We had a beautiful prix fixe Easter lunch which allowed us to try some new things. The brie soup and lamb shank were to die for.
