great vibe, lots of energy. food good, but not overly creative. classic bistro menu selections. nice wine list.
Excellent entrees, appetizers, cocktails and wine. Desserts (clafoutis and creme brûlée) were a bit disappointing in that they didn’t rise to the level of the rest of the meal; were ok, but nothing special. Service also excellent. All around wonderful experience.
The presentation matches the taste. Do not miss the Lemon Semi Freddo!!!!
Superb to have a french restaurant with an excellent chef in wonderful downtown Camas.
Halibut was fishy and very small portion. Butter leaf salad presentation was pretty.
Lamb was overcooked and lacked flavor. Portion was small. Presentation was mediocre.
St. Jack’s is my favorite restaurant in Oregon. Every time I visit it’s amazing.
We had an AMAZING time for our anniversary at St. Jack. Everything we ordered was delicious, perfectly prepared and presented. The service was phenomenal as well...patient and friendly...and not pretentious, in spite of the high caliber of restaurant. We didn't feel rushed at all, and had a dining experience rather than a fast meal. We loved it, and hope to come back soon!
Excellent food, ambiance and service, will eat there again ......and soon.
If you’re ever in Portland, this place is a must! From oysters to properly cooked steaks and steak tartare to the most delicious asparagus salad, you will be in for a treat!
Never had a bad meal here. Perfection. I will come back agin.
Excellent restaurant. Enjoyed it a great deal. A bit noisy, but wonderful service and excellent food.
Excellent food and service from start to finish. Wonderful selection of appetizers and entrees.
Excellent food. Friendly and attentive service. Extremely loud. Had the bad luck to be seated next to a party that appeared to be over-served which put a damper on the evening.
We haven’t been to St. Jack in a few years but decided we wanted oysters on the west side. The restaurant has a great hum to it, the service was professional and the food was notable. We split a dozen oysters, an appetizer of an asparagus salad on special, a side of fries and a bowl of mussels. The prices seem high for Portland, but then again this is a fine dining restaurant.
I will say the food impressed us. The bowl of mussels, while it cost $29 sans pommels frites, was the biggest one I’ve ever had and was plenty for us to split. Add to that the fact that the mussels were uniformly plump and fresh tasting, it was a decent value.
I would say St. Jack can be what you want it to be. Expect to spend some money, but it feels like the restaurant is providing very solid and good food that makes it worthwhile.
First time at St. Jack and can’t wait to go back. Drinks at the bar were great before our dinner reservation. Food was fantastic and service was very friendly!
Bocuse dinner was truly excellent...... and I was aquatinted with Bocuse, was very close friends with his Godson And had the great privilege of dining in the “Point room”.
This was a wonderful ode to him!!
Top notch French bistro cuisine. Highly recommend!
Always great food, great atmosphere. Our out of town guests wished they had a restaurant like this in their town
Shrimp over cooked and tough
Silly not to provide high quality ketchup with pomme frites; the (hollandaise?) sauce that comes with them was warm, too rich, and unappealing . Butter lettuce in salad was not well washed... yuck!
Always a great place to dine. A little noisy but food and service great
We attended a friend’s 45th birthday - the food, service and ambiance exceeded expectations. I’m sorry I can’t remember our server’s name but she was friendly, polite and efficient. One of the top steak frites in Portland.
Wonderful food!!! There wait staff were quick to explain the menu, fill our glasses and make sure we were out on time for symphony. The cod was filling and flavorful. My dining mates had the mussels and they were quite satisfied. The Lyonnaise salad was very good. We shared the cheese plate with a selection created by our waiter that was equally delicious: honey, apple and apricot were a great companion to the cheese. Putting the restaurant in my rotation of favorites. Well done!
Amazing food and quaint dishes and salt on the butter with sturdy baguette- yum!
Underwhelmed for our date night, but kate was awesome and kind and inviting.
We each ordered wagyu filets. The meat quality and texture was not even close to costco choice let alone wagyu. Not sure what cut we were served. That being said, it was executed perfect( whatever cut it was).
We sat at the counter and wAtched the show. Amazing. Perfect service. Delicious seasonal dishes perfectly mastered. Loved the black cod dish. The chocolate truffle with pistachio butter was divine. And not to sweet.
They pulled it off perfectly without a flaw. Always a pleasure.
Second time in 3 years that my wife and I have made reservations at St. Jack for our anniversary. Had a wonderful evening last time, which the first time we'd eaten at their NW 23rd location. No hesitation going back this year.
I let St. Jack know that it was our anniversary and requested a quieter table a bit separated from the crowd. We were seated at a nice two-topper in the corner near the front window that fit the bill perfectly.
Our waiter, Tyson, welcomed us and brought two glasses of Champagne Tassin Brut NV on the house. We wanted a Rose Champagne with dinner. Tyson suggested the Champagne Chartogne-Taillet, Brut Rose, NV and it was delicious. We started with oysters, then their Butter Lettuce salad (a meal in itself, and a fine one at that). My wife had the Cod and I had the their untraditional Gnocchi. Both were well prepared and delightful.
Tyson took good care of us all evening. Terrific job.
Want to thank St. Jack for another wonderful anniversary dinner.
We have always loved St. Jack. We have come for birthday's for years. The food is very good, our waitperson was excellent and the drinks also wonderful. The cod dish was disappointing in both portion and taste and price. The tables are very close and it was very loud.
Too loud. Would not recommend if you want to have a conversation.
Great place to celebrate a birthday
3rd time I went to this restaurant.
1st it was all good, my fav in PDX.
2nd time was a vey expensive valentines menu. Not worthy and the main course was too small.
3rd time our stake frites (3 of them) were over cooked outside and super raw inside.
Anyways, nice one but hard to love it after that.
If you appreciate french food then this is your spot.
Wonderful. Loved the duck and foie gras!
Perfection! Perfection! Perfection!
The four of us enjoyed our meal at St Jack's last Saturday evening. The gals both had the Lyonnaise tart and the guys had the clams and pork belly. Doesn't sound like a good combination but their bowls were not only empty but wiped clean with the last of the bread. Our waiter was friendly and attentive but not in our face. Very pleasant two hours and, like in France, felt no pressure to vacate the table
Some of our courses were outstanding (lamb, tomato soup, butter lettuce salad), while others were a mixed bag (my cod was perfectly cooked with a wonderful crisp skin, but the accompanying potatoes were underdone, almost crunchy), and our appetizer (barnacles— a special) was a flop, with about half being extremely sandy. My daughter had the duck, and loved it, but the portion of duck was really very small (like four bites) for the price. We will give it another try, as the service was excellent and the highs of the meal were very very good.
Wonderful French cuisine. The food is delicious and the presentation superb. Great and attentive service.
Our waiter was great. He had great ideas of wines choices and knew the specials well. The food was great. We will be back again.
I am so glad for the 3 coarse for $33 in Portland to give me the opportunity to try this and many other amazing restaurants. Since our night there I have been raving about St. Jack. The cuisine was incredible, even the salad we started with. I will definitely be returning soon! St. Jack is perfect for date night, dinner with grandparents, drinks with friends and surely lots of fun. I enjoyed the warm and lively atmosphere, and hope others will also by visiting St. Jack soon!
We've eaten at this restaurant a few times and have enjoyed every meal. I had the cod casserole this time and it was outstanding -- moist and with perfect flavor from the wild mushroom broth. The service is excellent, too. The waiters are knowledgeable and the service is paced just right.
The dining room was stupidly noisy with diners shouting at one another to be heard across their table. Fortunately, the maitresse'd noticed that we had requested a quiet table on our reservation in hopes of being able to engage in conversation and moved us to the bar area, where we were served with the dining menu.
