The service and personal attention at this restaurant are outstanding. The butter lettuce salad is my favorite of any salad served in Portland. The choices for a cheese plate are varied and interesting. We really enjoyed both our entrees. A great place to celebrate our wedding anniversary!
One of the best meals we have had in a while. The Butter Lettuce salad is something I am still craving, days later. So simple but just perfect!
Ran out of crab and thought the menu was already limited. Burger was really good though.
St Jack never fails us! We’ve eaten dinner there often and always take house guests as we live close by. This was our first time for brunch and it was excellent. We were seated by a window in the bar area and it was quiet enough to chat..though every table was taken..(the noise level in main dining room has always been a distraction at dinner serving. )We had crab omelette...served with fresh greens, and their pommes frites and a fabulous croissant with homemade marmalade. And to die for slabs of maple bacon. The coffee was wonderful and our cups..beautiful china cups and saucers ..were constantly topped off by Portland’s best wait staff. I can see that brunch is going to be our go to St Jack meal...with a menu that includes everything from omelettes to hearty lunch fare including a fried chicken sandwich and burgers. Good idea to get reservations as it fills up quickly.
Noisy, and hard to hear, but food was EXCELLENT! Service was great too!

This is a wonderful French bistro experience. The dishes are well-conceived and delicious, and the atmosphere perfectly captures the vibe of a French neighborhood bistro. Highly recommend!
Not a ton of lacto, ovo, pescatarian options and they were out of the cod :(
In addition to the food being great, we were able to get an excellent bottle of very reasonably priced Burgundy to accompany our brunch.
St Jack is an extraordinary place where everyone seems to be paying attention to the details that make a visit there a memorable experience. I arrived early and the staff were most accommodating with any and all request we made of them. Drinks were right on, apps were beautifully put together and tasty, and main courses a hit with the whole table.
Will be back soon to enjoy the open-kitchen counter seats.
If you want to spend time at a nice bar with skilled and friendly bartenders, St.Jacks is a good place to visit. However for dinner, you should pass and consider other options. Limited menu. Poor wait service. Fair food offerings. Prices too high for net experience.
So disappointed. I have been to St Jack a number of times since they moved to their current location. It was one of my favorite restaurants, but i doubt that I will go again. The room was hot and stuffy. The waiter was terrible, perfunctory at best. We didn’t receive our drinks until halfway through our appetizers, and then only because we asked where they were. The butter lettuce salad was so heavily peppered that no other flavors could be detected. The steak was very tough and hard to cut, let alone chew. The waiter never returned at any point to ask how our meals were. He also kept calling me “sweetheart” which I found extremely offensive. Their prices have gone up while the quality, service and ambiance have significantly declined. The one positive was that our water glasses were promptly refilled without needing to ask.
We love St. Jack. The tomato soup was especially delicious!

We picked a good day to go to St. Jack and a good time. The light was fading to blue outside and contrasted with the yellow glow of the candle-lit dining room. I tried Duck au Poivre this time, and it was incredibly rich and special. My other half had the filet steak frites--the only way to have it. I recommend saving a trip to this restaurant for a special occasion when you are feeling hungry, adventurous, and willing to treat yourself.

Best French food since Paris. Wonderful fairly and reasonably priced wine list. Fabulous martini. Service was right on, professional, friendly, knowledgable and understated. When you go try the ice cream — house made and fabulous! We will be dining there again soon. Beyond our expectations.
We had a very nice meal shared between two couples. Our server recommended a crisp, light-bodied Chardonnay by Minimus, a local Oregon winery, that was fantastic! We loved the baguette served with both butter & sea salt and an olive oil & roasted garlic dipping sauce with red pepper flakes. We shared a green salad, lovely, fresh poached prawns, mussels with both the toasted baguette that came with them and frites, a roasted halibut dish, and mushroom crepe. Everything was very good, and this was definitely enough food for the four of us. The atmosphere was lively and fun, and the service was excellent. It is on the spendy side for everyday dining, but is a great spot for a delicious and fun meal. If you want to dine at St. Jack on a budget, the happy hour is much more affordable.

Best mussels ever! The service was attentive and friendly. Loved sitting at the counter. The only downside was the cold rubbery baguette.
I always live this place and eat here often but the halibut this week missed its mark. And was only just okay. Still great
I went for an anniversary and it was perfectly set up for intimate conversation, great atmosphere and service, and delicious food. We will definitely go back!
How could a French restaurant ruin duck confit? Overcook it. The special entrée of the night was dry and tough and far from delicious. Thank goodness for the cooked greens, the six cubes of roasted potatoes and two slices of roasted peaches. The crust of the baguette I ordered was so tough it took real force to rip it apart, which was a little embarrassing in an expensive restaurant. To make the meal more disappointing, I waited one hour for it and it wasn’t that busy when I arrived at 6:30. To cap the evening off, about a half hour before leaving, the smell of cooked grease began to permeate the room and my clothes. Upon arriving home I had to hang them outside my closet. Two days later they still smell and I am hanging them outdoors now. Maybe they were short staffed? Or had problems with the cooking equipment? Whatever, St. Jack did not live up to its stars.
We arrived a few minutes ahead and asked to go to bar but were told no and taken to table we waited over 30 minutes to get a cocktail served. Waiter was uninterested at best in explaining anything about the menu. We then waited for appetizers until we had a second round of drinks all brought out with no attention to timing. Our meals were ok but nothing remarkable for us he palate other than one guest who thought the duck was really good. Overall it was a disappointment.
Everything a restaurant should be! Fantastic food, service, atmosphere. A lovely place for a celebration - even if it's just celebrating a Wednesday.
Food is great. Service was adequate but spotty.
I always visit St Jack when I come to Portland. Our favorite dishes this time were the chicken liver mousse, the Duck au Poivre, the mussels with chunky bacon, and the Steak Frites. Service was perfect. The noise level is extremely loud so sometimes it’s challenging to hear across the table.
Love St Jack's, remains one of my favorite Portland restaurants. Service, food and drinks are always on point!
Love the food here, but we won't be back because the service is sooooo slow. The time between when we ordered to when we got our entree was 90 minutes. Just too long.

Too damn loud, won't be returning. Miss the old St Jack on Clinton -- very quiet and intimate.
Our dinner was fantastic in every way. Our server had some incredible recommendations (order both the pork rinds and chicken liver mousse and eat them together), the food was delightful, and it was a wonderful night out.

The value isn’t worth the trip. We were expecting it to be along the lines of Le Pigeon, Ringside, Bistro Agnes, and others in that group. For spending $100+ per person, the quality of the food wasn’t quite where we wanted it.
