The meal was wonderful. We started with the shrimp cocktail. It was hot, but the heat went as fast as it came. Your sinuses will clear, ha ha! Salads were varied - wedges, chopped, and the seasonal caprese - but all equally enjoyed. Everyone had a steak for dinner and cooked to the specification of each person. The Indiana corn shareable side was delectable! For dessert, we split the chocolate mousse and the raspberry sorbet. A great, yet accidental, combination! We had two bottles of wine. Cherry pie and then the recommended cab by the waiter, Andy Cooper, who was one the very best waiters we’ve had. If you can request him, he will delight your table. It was a wonderful evening with family - thank you for such a great dinner and service!
Amazing food and service, very rarely will be coming back due to the price.
Too expensive for no reason. Steak had no flavor. For a $41 steak I expected flavor. I endured the steak...I didn't enjoy it.
We had a great meal and service as always was excellent. We celebrated our 42nd wedding anniversary and were very pleased with how we were treated and taken care of.
AC too cold....too cold.
Table atendant......an idiot.....
How not been to Saint Elmo's in over 30 years, It is even better than I remember it! Our server, Jake, was unbelievably accommodating. He didn't miss a beat. He anticipated every need and did it with a smile on his face and a friendly conversation tone. The food was phenomenal! The filet was so tender you could cut it with a fork. I would make the 5 hour drive again just to go. Thank you Saint Elmo's.
The best steakhouse in Indianapolis. Best food, best service & best atmosphere. I've been to all the others in Indy --- and St. Elmo is simply better than everyone else.
This is an annual dinner date for my spouse and I at St Elmo's, in connection with the Drum Corp International Championships. We love the shrimp cocktail, although the cocktail sauce is too hot for one of us, and the waiter either forgot to substitute mild sauce or it, too, wasn't mild enough! In any case, the shrimp themselves and dinner were excellent, the waiter super professional (although seemed hurried on this occasion), and the ambiance fine in the traditional white table cloths and wood paneling style. We'll undoubtedly keep visiting St Elmo's as long as our trips to Indianapolis continue.
The food was great and so was the service. Our waitress was very friendly and was always filling drinks and asking if there was anything we needed before we asked. The food was delicious and cooked exactly as requested.
We went on a Sunday and they had a special Sunday menu where you got an appetizer, entree, and dessert. Was a great value and worked well for us.
Everyone should experience this place! Third time going and this place never disappoints! Fillet is perfect every time and I suggest the lobster Mac n cheese also. Delicious! Go on a Sunday when they have their 3 course meal for cheap!
Doug was our server and he was superb. 2 years ago we had the pleasure of dining with him at Harry and Izzies. He’s always so attentive and warm. We can’t wait to go visit again next summer.
I don't even know where to start! From the minute we walked in, I felt so special! Our waiter was fantastic, the service was out of this world, and the food was beyond excellent! This was such a quiet perfect date night. Even though other diners were in the room, we felt like we were the only ones there!
One of the best meals and dining experiences I’ve ever had! There’s a reason for all the hype, and St Elmo’s lived up to it. Sunday 3-Course dinner was a great value. Will be back!
Great food, great service. Loved the shrimp cocktail.
This was our first time, but definitely won't be our last. My wife & I both enjoyed the atmosphere and the food was OUTSTANDING!!! The entire staff was personable and made us welcomed.
Excellent service and the steaks were great as always. We arrived quite early and staff was great to work us in quickly. Will always recommend and be back soon. Thanks.
St. Elmo's never disappoints. Our steaks were cooked as requested to perfection. The aged beef melts in your mouth. The bean soup is delicious also. It is great for special occasion and worth the cost.
We sat downstairs in the cellar and had a magical experience for my in-laws 44th wedding anniversary! Absolutely delightful!!
We celebrated my parents' 50th anniversary. Every staff member we encountered wished them a happy anniversary. The food was delicious, and the service was exemplary. Overall it made for a perfect celebration!
The food and the service was great! I hadn’t been there in years, but everything was just as good as I remembered!!
Food was simply amazing as well as the service. My only caution is be prepared when you get the bill. This was a great place to eat and I m ow it was expensive. But I will end by saying it is well worth the price.
Great experience. We make it a point to come to St Elmo’s when visiting Indianapolis. Love the shrimp cocktails. Service outstanding!!!
Service was wonderful. Food is very very good and the ambience has the feel of a real steakhouse. Enjoyed the experience very much.
Very good meat. The shrimp cocktail was delightfully horseradishy, and it would tingle your nose just right with a proper bite. The redskin mashed potatoes were scrumptious with a delightful texture.
Great server, staff were quick to fill empty drinks and remove plates. Wait staff was excellent, very personable and attentive to our needs.
Best steak and shrimp cocktail. I can't wait to go again.
Some of my family were in town for a wedding. I had researched restaurants trying to find one with a good reputation and unique to Indianapolis. It was also within walking distance of our hotel. We had 8 in our party. Our table was ready when we arrived. Service was impeccable. The food was everything that was reported! The steaks were delicious and so were the sides. I love the old style atmosphere. The place was crowded, for good reason, but we never felt hurried. I would definitely recommend this restaurant when visiting Indianapolis.
Tables are too close together as a person cannot get up and go to the restroom without turning sideways to hopefully not knock something off the table next to us.
Every time we have gone to Indianapolis for DCI we have always had dinner at St. Elmo's and have had excellent service and food!
Fabulous food in wonderful historic surroundings. Best shrimp cocktail and steak anywhere!
Our service was great, he was always around for anything we needed and even before we had to ask. Dinner was amazing!
Best shrimp cocktail. Awesome service
I will definitely be returning to St. Elmo's in the future. The food is top notch and the staff are all fantastic. It was a little loud, but it shows just how popular the restaurant really is. The shrimp cocktail is so spicy it's hard not to go back for more even if you can't really handle it!
Our ribeyes were perfect. Well seasoned and cooked just right. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly and came round right on time. Our experience was somewhat diminished by where we were seated. Back corner of a small room that smelled slightly musty as we entered. There was a larger, round table in the center of the room. Those guests were loud (trying to hear each other across the table, I think). Because the room is so small, it seems like limiting seating to smaller parties in there would help control the noise level. Also, service items were stored inches behind my seat. Servers were grabbing things off the shelves throughout our meal. Otherwise, we enjoyed our food and appreciated the complimentary (birthday) creme brûlée.
Old fashioned steak house. Limited menu, but entrees were large and well presented. Unsurprisingly steaks were very good, the rest of the offerings less so. Kyle our server persuaded us to have the shrimp cocktail starter - sauce was incredibly fiery, difficult to eat. Dining room is very, very loud - so be warned!
Best in the city!
Excellent food ! Could add a couple more shrimp 🍤 in the shrimp cocktail.
It had been a number of years since I had been at St. Elmo's for business event and I was looking forward to our meal. While the food and service was excellent, as always, the ambiance left a lot to be desired. The main dining room is extremely tight, too many tables in the space, and with the high ceilings the noise level at 6:30 on Tuesday evening was high. Our small family party could hardly hear each other or the wait staff. Not where you would go for a quiet, intimate meal.
