Food was great and Andy our server was fabulous
A fixture of Indy. No trip here is complete without going to
Wait staff was excellent. Great suggestions, excellent conversationalist, made us feel welcome and entertained.
Food is always top notch and prepared perfectly.
Always my "go to" when visiting Indy.
We went to St. Elmo's for a 12 person group dinner. They set us up in our room upstairs at a round table and everyone agreed it was one of the best meals we have had as a group and as an overall experience.
Went with my wife and daughter as we always hit a good steakhouse when we travel. They had the filet mignon which was excellent, as it should be. I, however ordered the 45-day aged NY Strip as the 69-day Strip has a bit too much flavor for me. The Strip was cooked correctly, medium-rare, but the problem was it had a vein running through which made it very tough. Prime cuts should not have this. Needless to say I was very disappointed in my NY Strip. Other than that, it’s a great place.
Really had a great time. Brought people from the corporate office and they loved it! The wait staff was incredible and very easy to work with, leading us through the best dining experience I've had. We could not have asked for a better experience.
Appreciated that they recognized that it was my birthday. Service was great and the food was amazing. Staff was helpful and friendly as well as valet service was on point.
St Elmos is a great steakhouse and typical of what you think of for a high end streak dinner. The filet and brussel sprouts were fantastic! The services was outstanding. Nice quite place for a lingering dinner with someone special.
My family and I had a wonderful dinner in celebration of my birthday. Everything was delicious, and the steak was so delicious.
Service was top-notch. Had shrimp cocktail and ribeye - everything was prepared perfectly and tasted outstanding!
St Elmo’s would be, at best, an average experience at a chain restaurant. Pack in people, serve them fast, hustle them out. But, given the history of this steakhouse, I had hoped for much better. The shrimp cocktail is the only item on the menu that shines, but it is overpriced just like everything else on the menu. The lobster bisque was lukewarm and tasteless, the steaks were ok (nothing better than you might get at Longhorn), and the lobster Mac n cheese was decent, not great. I willingly pay the prices that St Elmo’s charges, but expect much higher quality food and service in return. With so many other good steakhouses in Indy, I’d go somewhere else. I will not return to St Elmo’s.
Wonderful as usual!
We were celebrating our anniversary, and were greeted with congratulations and well wishes, from the time we walked in, until we left. The food was fabulous. We have been to St. Elmo's on several occasions, but this was our first celebration.
We've visited and loved St. Elmo's for many years, and try to get in a meal whenever we get to Indianapolis. There isn't a bad option on the menu. Despite the crowds, St. Elmo's allows each table enough space that you don't feel cramped (unlike some other steak houses I won't name). Our visit last weekend was especially great, as the friendly and efficient service from Vladimir could not have been better!
Fantastic meal in in one of the best atmosphere in the city. Can't go wrong with this place!
After theater on Sunday early evening
Awesome as usual! Great food and great service!
Well worth the 5 hour trip each way. Definitely lived up to the best spicy seafood sauce!!
Waiter was amazing and very informative.
Very good experience, had been years since the last time we were there and the food was again very high quality and service was great.
Hadn't been there in about decade... much of it is as I remember it. I must say that while I understand that it is an institution and a real icon in the downtown Indianapolis dining scene. But I was completely underwhelmed. I ordered the special ribeye 18 oz aged steak that was about $68 and it was mediocre at best. The plate was nowhere near warm enough, the steak was nowhere near tender enough, and the sides were boring at best. The wedge salad was good and the shrimp cocktail, while legendary for the sauce, was ok, not great.
My first time, and St. Elmo' s did not disappoint! The steak was perfect, and the service was excellent. I would highly recommend!
Best steak I’ve had
We are Hoosiers living in Florida who were in town to see family and celebrate my husbands birthday. We have always had a great dining experience at st. Elmo's for special occasions. I made our reservations a month in advance. Our service was excellent and the shrimp cocktail was awesome as usual. Our steaks were a huge disappointment. My son had the 70.00 steak which was 1/4 fat and very chewy. Mine and my daughters filets were ordered medium well and came bloody. They were also fatty. My husband described his filet as senewy. Our bill with tip was 450.00 which is to be expected for 4 people. Just kinda sad that we all had such low quality steaks.
Outstanding lobster mac and cheese, redskin mashed potatoes, bread basket, and creme brûlée. At $59 for the porterhouse, I thought it was okay, nothing special to it. My $10 steak from Kroger I make at home packs more flavor and value. The world famous shrimp cocktail takes a special palette to really enjoy, but again, at $16 for 4 "jumbo" shrimp, no real value for the unimpressive taste. The ambiance is great, service fantastic, all my sides were delicious, but if you want a great steak, not worth their price points. 4/5 stars.
Food is great, service is always great!! Little pricey, usually go for special occasions.
Yep, their famous shrimp cocktail IS all that. Our table had filets and lobster tails (grilled). Filets cooked to perfection! We also shared the king crab mac and cheese (5 thumbs up). Lobster bisque was well worth the upgrade, and the service was phenomenal - professional and friendly all at once. Highly recommended.....
Great service and excellent food!!
The restaurant give you the feeling of a classic high end steak house. Superb service with attention to detail. We loved it.
Excellent service, steak was amazing, loved the decor, atmosphere was fantastic. Can't wait to go back for another meal!
Family dinner was exceptional, we were in town for a couple of different performances and knew I had to get everyone there.
Son and family were delayed by traffic had to move reservation back an hour and they made sure it happened.
We arrived early and was seated early which was nice. My wife and came here for our 20th anniversary! We had the best dinner ever along with the best steaks ever! We were worried we would be under dressed but people were dressed nice and some just dressed casual.
Good service, over priced to deal with very loud drunks at the table next to us.
St. Elmo's is always a great experience, and this trip did not disappoint. The steaks are tremendous, the service is superb, and the shrimp cocktail sauce is famous for a reason.
Always a great meal from service to food to drinks!
The food and shrimp cocktail lived up to what i hear. Highly recommend. JUAN was our waiter and he did an awesome job. Will definitely go back.
I have heard about this place for years and typically opted for the sister restuarnt a few doors down...This was well worth the wait. Easily one of the top 5 steaks in America. Service was fantastic and the meal was amazing.
Our server , Sean, really elevated our experience and provided us with first class service. He was attentive and very accommodating.
The food was amazing - we had bone-in rib eye with the shrimp cocktail. The sear on the rib-eye was perfect.
The ambiance was also great and the tour of the wine cellar and den was absolutely fantastic!
Great evening was greeted right away and no wait for our reserved table. Service staff was prompt with our needs.
Been wanting to try St. Elmos for sometime and finally got the opportunity to on a trip to Indianapolis, and it did not disappoint . We were seated quickly upon arrival and quickly served drinks once our orders were placed the food came out in a timely manner and was cooked perfectly and was delicious I will definitely be going back my next time in Indianapolis. A quick tip if you order their famous shrimp cocktail ask for the cocktail sauce on the side I wasn't aware that the shrimp came already covered in the sauce and while I absolutely love spicy foods the sauce in a good size amount was almost too much for me to handle but definitely a must try while at this wonderful steakhouse.
