Wonderful as usual!
We've visited and loved St. Elmo's for many years, and try to get in a meal whenever we get to Indianapolis. There isn't a bad option on the menu. Despite the crowds, St. Elmo's allows each table enough space that you don't feel cramped (unlike some other steak houses I won't name). Our visit last weekend was especially great, as the friendly and efficient service from Vladimir could not have been better!
Fantastic meal in in one of the best atmosphere in the city. Can't go wrong with this place!
After theater on Sunday early evening
Awesome as usual! Great food and great service!
Well worth the 5 hour trip each way. Definitely lived up to the best spicy seafood sauce!!
Waiter was amazing and very informative.
Very good experience, had been years since the last time we were there and the food was again very high quality and service was great.
Hadn't been there in about decade... much of it is as I remember it. I must say that while I understand that it is an institution and a real icon in the downtown Indianapolis dining scene. But I was completely underwhelmed. I ordered the special ribeye 18 oz aged steak that was about $68 and it was mediocre at best. The plate was nowhere near warm enough, the steak was nowhere near tender enough, and the sides were boring at best. The wedge salad was good and the shrimp cocktail, while legendary for the sauce, was ok, not great.
My first time, and St. Elmo' s did not disappoint! The steak was perfect, and the service was excellent. I would highly recommend!
Best steak I’ve had
We are Hoosiers living in Florida who were in town to see family and celebrate my husbands birthday. We have always had a great dining experience at st. Elmo's for special occasions. I made our reservations a month in advance. Our service was excellent and the shrimp cocktail was awesome as usual. Our steaks were a huge disappointment. My son had the 70.00 steak which was 1/4 fat and very chewy. Mine and my daughters filets were ordered medium well and came bloody. They were also fatty. My husband described his filet as senewy. Our bill with tip was 450.00 which is to be expected for 4 people. Just kinda sad that we all had such low quality steaks.
Outstanding lobster mac and cheese, redskin mashed potatoes, bread basket, and creme brûlée. At $59 for the porterhouse, I thought it was okay, nothing special to it. My $10 steak from Kroger I make at home packs more flavor and value. The world famous shrimp cocktail takes a special palette to really enjoy, but again, at $16 for 4 "jumbo" shrimp, no real value for the unimpressive taste. The ambiance is great, service fantastic, all my sides were delicious, but if you want a great steak, not worth their price points. 4/5 stars.
Food is great, service is always great!! Little pricey, usually go for special occasions.
Yep, their famous shrimp cocktail IS all that. Our table had filets and lobster tails (grilled). Filets cooked to perfection! We also shared the king crab mac and cheese (5 thumbs up). Lobster bisque was well worth the upgrade, and the service was phenomenal - professional and friendly all at once. Highly recommended.....
The restaurant give you the feeling of a classic high end steak house. Superb service with attention to detail. We loved it.
Great service and excellent food!!
Excellent service, steak was amazing, loved the decor, atmosphere was fantastic. Can't wait to go back for another meal!
Family dinner was exceptional, we were in town for a couple of different performances and knew I had to get everyone there.
Son and family were delayed by traffic had to move reservation back an hour and they made sure it happened.
We arrived early and was seated early which was nice. My wife and came here for our 20th anniversary! We had the best dinner ever along with the best steaks ever! We were worried we would be under dressed but people were dressed nice and some just dressed casual.
Good service, over priced to deal with very loud drunks at the table next to us.
St. Elmo's is always a great experience, and this trip did not disappoint. The steaks are tremendous, the service is superb, and the shrimp cocktail sauce is famous for a reason.
Always a great meal from service to food to drinks!
The food and shrimp cocktail lived up to what i hear. Highly recommend. JUAN was our waiter and he did an awesome job. Will definitely go back.
I have heard about this place for years and typically opted for the sister restuarnt a few doors down...This was well worth the wait. Easily one of the top 5 steaks in America. Service was fantastic and the meal was amazing.
Great evening was greeted right away and no wait for our reserved table. Service staff was prompt with our needs.
Been wanting to try St. Elmos for sometime and finally got the opportunity to on a trip to Indianapolis, and it did not disappoint . We were seated quickly upon arrival and quickly served drinks once our orders were placed the food came out in a timely manner and was cooked perfectly and was delicious I will definitely be going back my next time in Indianapolis. A quick tip if you order their famous shrimp cocktail ask for the cocktail sauce on the side I wasn't aware that the shrimp came already covered in the sauce and while I absolutely love spicy foods the sauce in a good size amount was almost too much for me to handle but definitely a must try while at this wonderful steakhouse.
Top notch local steakhouse. Makes my list of Top 10 in the country. I always say this meal with bring tears to your eyes and the Shrimp always does. Outstanding!
We ate at Saint Elmo's before attending Les Miserables. Our waiter was amazing, as was my fillet mignon and lobster bisque. Our drinks were incredible and we can't wait to return
The food was amazing. George, our waiter, did a phenomenal job. George gave us a tour of the place as well which made our experience even better. Can't wait to come back and spend some more time in the lounge upstairs.
St Elmos should reduce their portion sizes and thus lower the price. The portions are WAY more than the average person could or should eat.
Best known for their steaks but the pork chops are awesome!!
Wonderful service and an amazing meal! We will definitely be back again!
I now know why this restaurant has been in business for so long. It lives up to its great reputation. I will be back!
I had an opportunity to spend a couple of days with my wife. I wanted to treat her to the best steak hose in Indy, and we weren't disappointed. It was awesome. service was awesome and the food was awesome. Thank you for a great experience.
This was our first experience at this restaurant and we were both impressed with the food and service. The food was really exceptional with some of the best flavors we've had in the Midwest. The steak choices were outstanding. Their Shrimp Cocktail was really unique and full of flavor. The Caesar had a strong traditional taste, which both my wife and I really enjoyed. I had the Filet and it was cooked perfectly at medium with a nice glaze on the outside beautiful color on the inside. The red mashed potatoes parred with the steak and greens so well.
Getting the valet parking was ideal. No need to drive around to look for parking. Classic layout and authentic photos helped set the mood. It would have been nice to have a booth or a little more privacy, but overall the spacing was decent and the other conversation around didn't seem to bother the atmosphere.
The staff was really nice and everyone welcomed us. In fact, the staff all signed a card for us at our table, which helped make the night ever more special.
We have a great meal and service. Only thing was we were sat at a small table for 4 and really was not enough room to eat without feeling uncomfortable
Everything I remembered and more! Ofcourse the Shrimp Cocktail was divine and the steak was perfect. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a wonderful steak and wonderful service. Time and circumstances have kept me away, but I will be back again and again.
Great service and food was spot on, great afternoon with the family
We love coming to St. Elmo's. Food is always fabulous and our waiter, Vladamir J. is awesome! We enjoy him serving us. We make a over two hour drive to come to St. Elmo's a couple times a year. The food is superb! Atmosphere is superb!
We arrived an hour early for our reservation so we went to the 1933 lounge for some pre dinner drinks. Service up there was wonderful. When we were seated we were lead to the bottom floor of the restaurant. My date was hesitant about our table but it ended up being a lovely quite spot. Our server Vladimir was wonderful. He recommended some bourbon (four roses #5) off their select list and it was delicious. We both got the filet which were cooked perfectly and I made a last minute change to my side which was accommodated with no hesitation. We will be making this a yearly birthday tradition!
