St. Elmo Steak House Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I made a reservation while visiting Indy for the monument lighting. The food was excellent and our waiter was fantastic. My only “complaint” (and not really a big deal) was being sat a foot away from a table of four when there were LOTS of other tables. I could have lived without their conversation. It was close enough to feel awkward in a not crowded space. All in all - would definitely recommend and will absolutely return!
This historic restaurant is worth going to for the experience. We were there on a week day so there were fewer people and quieter than on weekends. Although the quality of the food was very good and our server, Jordon, was excellent, the price was so high it left a bad after taste!
The entire experience was great. Wonderful server. Food was phenomenal. We both had the New York strip steaks and they were cooked perfectly. My boyfriend orders his Pittsburgh rare and it was cooked exactly as he wanted. We will be returning and recommend it to anyone. A truly enjoyable experience.
Drove to Indianapolis from Pittsburgh for this and was not disappointed. Phenomenal food and the service was excellent. Glenn is the man. (And I really hope I spelled that right.) Worth the trip! One of the best meals I've ever had. A comfortable place to have a fantastic meal. I doubt there's something on the menu that isn't good.
Food was terrific but could have been warmer. Service wasn't what I expected at this price point. Not as attentive as I had hoped, could have just been our waiter. However, busing wasn't immediate. Restaurant was cold, could have been about 5 degrees warmer.
The service was fantastic. Our waiter went above and beyond the expected for a nice restaurant. The steaks were good and so were the potatoes. We were a little disappointed in the tomato appetizer but it was probably the wrong season for quality tomatoes in November. Atmosphere was as you would expect with a top quality restaurant and not too noisy.
I’ve heard about St. Elmo’s for a long time and suddenly had an opportunity to try it while in Indianapolis. The restaurant itself is quite large, made up of three rooms plus the bar area at the entry door. It’s a steakhouse, so we ate excellent beef, but the menu is large with other options. Expensive, but worth it. Tuxedoed waiters provide excellent service. Their signature appetiser is the shrimp cocktail with house-made cocktail sauce which includes lots and lots of fresh horseradish. The sauce is very spicy hot because of the horseradish. I like spicy food, but if you don’t, ask for the sauce on the side. It brought tears to my eyes! The beef is excellent and superbly prepared. Super service. Excellent wine list. Glad we went.
St. Elmo's is the premier Indy Restaurant, and probably one of the best steakhouses in the country. When you plan a trip to St. Elmo's, remember a few things- it WILL be busy, the food is fabulous, and it IS expensive. The bill for our party of four was well over $500.
However, if your idea of a great supper is a very large hunk of cow prepared to perfection ( I recommend blue-rare) go here.
Best steak I have had in a long time!!! Always lived in Indiana and had never been to St Elmo's. I work in a bar downtown and have received bottles of St Elmo's Cocktail Sauce as tip, but had never been in! I have to say I have had some pretty amazing steaks, but this was an amazing overall experience, not just great steak!!! The service was exceptional, the food was outstanding! I had the Filet Mignon and my wife had the NY Strip, both were incredible leaving us miserably full! But well worth it!
