St. Elmo Steak House Ratings and Reviews
Food was great. My only problem was our waiter. I had a whiskey drink before dinner and was enjoying it. My client told the waiter to serve me another drink and I told the waiter No thanks. My client insisted and again I said no thank you. The waiter served me the drink. #1 I was paying for the meal and was on a budget, #2 I truly didn’t want another drink. Waiters should never overrule a customer. It was unprofessional.
We came there to celebrate my brothers 40th birthday. We had a group of 10. There were 3 in the group that had never been to St. Elmo’s. The food was perfect and served timely. Steve aka the Tool was our waiter. He was superb. Steve handled our table perfectly and also entertained us when serving us. I live in South Carolina and send any one I know that travels to Indianapolis to this establishment. They all come back with positive stories on their experiences.
St. Elmo's is an institution and it starts off with the most delicious shrimp cocktail in the world. The service was amazing and the people were enjoyable to be around. I cannot stress enough how great this restaurant is. Get a reservation with Open Table and go, eat, drink and be happy with your choice.
This was our first time visiting St. Elmo's and the food was excellent. My only negative was the level of noise in the small room we were placed in. The table beside us was very loud; I was confused as to why we would be put there when there were many other tables open. My husband and I could hardly hear each other talk. I was almost tempted to ask to be moved. That was surprising to me. Besides that, the wait staff was excellent.
My hubby and I decided to take a date night and made reservations to St Elmo’s. Great ambience, From the time we walked in the door until we left the staff was friendly, professional and there for your needs. The food was & is delicious as always, never a disappointment. Known for their steaks & shrimp cocktail.
We started out with soup and their signature shrimp cocktail. I had the lobster bisque which was delicious. My husband enjoys the bean soup.
We went on a Sunday and looking at the menu did not realize that they have the Sunday special.
The special - choice of appetizer, main course with garlic mash potatoes, green beans & dessert.
I enjoyed the shrimp cocktail, 6oz filet which comes with green beans & garlic mash potatoes and dessert - creme brûlée. One of the best meals I had there.
Yes you can afford it too!! Go on a date night or out to enjoy Great food.
Probably one of the finest Steak Houses in the mid-west.
I have traveled across the US and have had many opportunities to experience fine dining from New York to Los Angeles. St Elmo's provides all of the things it takes to be in the top ten. I would prefer St Elmo's over Ruth Christ's, Morton's, Smith and Wilenskys and several others.
There just isn't any place that matches St Elmo's.
Maybe the most overrated food/restaurant experience ever. The "famous" cocktail sauce is merely a heap of horseradish and the steak not better than what you'd find in any decent restaurant. Is Indianapolis that starved of good food? What a disappointment. Don't waste your money or your calories...
St. Elmo’s is a true dining experience. Started first with the famous Shrimp cocktail. It truly will clear our your sineses. The steak was to die for. Best streak I’ve ever ate. St. Elmo is a must go to for any special occasion. Truly impressed with top notch service and unique dining experience.
Our server was Fantastic, food delicious. Only complaint & just personal not a serious one noisy and dark inside. Lobster bisque and Lobster & Shrimp linguine was out of this world good at a well know Steak house. Thank you for a wonderful evening definitely recommend.
I'm not one to complain at restaurants, never have been. However, I ordered the ribeye and received a cut of meat that I believe was prime rib. It was tough and full of tendons, it was very tough to chew. Also when I received the bill my steak was $68 instead of the $41 which is what the ribeye was priced at. I still didn't complain, I paid the bill, tipped the waiter 20% even though it was probably his fault for entering the wrong steak. So my over all first experience was just OK, not what I was hoping for.
