St. Elmo Steak House Ratings and Reviews
I love this place! Glen, our waiter, was professional, funny, knowledgable and very kind. He made our evening memorable and the food was excellent! We came for our anniversary dinner and the staff went above and beyond. The South African lobster tails are out of this world, and of course, the filet is amazing. We will definitely be coming back.
I have been to St. Elmo's numerous times and I can say that this was my worst experience. It wasn't bad, it was just not as good as in the past. We had a party of 8 and some of our steaks were not cooked as ordered and a few of them seemed like they say under the heat lamps a little too long. There was some lengthy gaps between courses. So this may have led to the quality of our meal. Disappointing, but will not keep me from going again, the next time I am in Indy.
My first time at St Elmo was fantastic! From the food to the waiter (Jason) to the ambiance, and of course the shrimp cocktail, it was all top notch. My party of 3 were still talking about it the next day about how good it was, not just the food, but the whole experience. Thank you Jason, and St Elmo!
We went to this Indianapolis institution for our Mom's birthday and everything about the experience was terrific. Incredibly friendly service from the cooks to the wait staff. We really enjoyed the navy bean soup appetizer that comes with the entree. The salads were fresh and tasty, the steaks were perfectly cooked, and the smoked pork chops were amazing. Our waiter was incredibly and made great suggestions for places to visit. Overall, a terrific experience that I recommend to anyone who loves well-prepared steak.
I have never had a bad meal at St. Elmo's. Since I don't live in Indy it is a real treat for me when in town. Make reservations well in advance especially if there is an event in town or you will not get in, it is that popular. I took two newbies this time and they both are now believers. George was our waiter and did an outstanding job for us. If you have never been, check it out! Pricey, but worth every penny.
My visit was ok until the waiter kept flirting with my date and made a comment about my level of class when I asked for steak sauce then went on to tell me he was tired and this was the attitude you get when u come in close to closing (I had a reservation though) I watched him give very professional service to the table next to mine though. When I return if he is my waiter I will definitely request another one
Recommended as one of the best steak houses in the US (not just Indy!) and even though we ordered the "special" the steak came out and looked like it had been popped in the microwave. Considering we ordered filet medium rare, it was dry, flavorless and tough. The service was great, however that doesn't make up for the below average food. Not to mention the servers were blocking the stairs while divvying out tips. The only positives were the nice touch of an anniversary card at the table for us, and the cheesecake.
Great food & superb service. All of our food was excellent. In fact, there was something to complain about, it would've been their 'World Famous' shrimp cocktail. It was not as good as I remember from years ago. But the steaks were out of this world, melting in your mouth, with such great taste. Even the macaroni with crab meat and the lobster bits soup were excellent. Wish I could visit more often, but the prices won't let me do that. OH... and our server Joel was absolutely great, along with the service attendants. Always watching your table if you needed anything, or plates to be removed. Just an overall excellent place!!!
I enjoyed their special Sunday menu which is similar to their Devour menu and a good deal at $40. You get a smaller size appetizer, main course, and dessert, but I found the size to be perfect. I had the famous shrimp cocktail, and it did not disappoint. Next was the 6 oz. filet which was excellent...even the sides were tasty. I finished with the creme brulee which was good and just the right size to finish off dinner without making me feel overstuffed. My husband enjoyed the larger filet off of the regular menu with soup and a salad. Everything was cooked exactly to our specifications and was excellent. I am looking forward to dining at St. Elmo's again!
Food was great. My only problem was our waiter. I had a whiskey drink before dinner and was enjoying it. My client told the waiter to serve me another drink and I told the waiter No thanks. My client insisted and again I said no thank you. The waiter served me the drink. #1 I was paying for the meal and was on a budget, #2 I truly didn’t want another drink. Waiters should never overrule a customer. It was unprofessional.
