Good food. Butter cake was particularly good. Had a prime ribeye. Pretty good.
One of the best restaurants in the Midwest. Fantastic menu that keeps the starters simple and makes the main courses count. Best shrimp cocktail anywhere. When in Indianapolis this is a must!
Amazing Steaks, Shrimp Cocktail and Private Bourbon Barrells
Our waiter was very nice and attentive. We did not wait long between each course
Excellent food and a very good staff made our visit a pleasure!
It was our 10 year anniversary, we decided to have dinner in a notably upscale place. We chose St. Elmo's and was not disappointed, they are known for a reason!!
Very average for a high end steak house. The seating in the basement probably really ruins the evening.
Loved the whole experience. Anniversary card at the table was a great touch.
Shrimp cocktail and wine was
The steaks were super and not as tasty as we would expect
An old classic. Always been great for us. The shrimp cocktail is great and kind of fun to eat. The horseradish will really clear your nasal passage. We always love the steaks.
Great every time
We dine here once or twice a year. It's always great: the meal, the service , the location for all Indy. sporting events, concerts, and special occasions! Steaks are mouth watering, Shrimp cocktail is of course the most special treat! Have been coming here for 40 years, always something special to look forward to!
Everything was amazing! Would highly recommend.
What an incredible night. We had a wonderful dinner and Bill took great care of us!
A few issues that I had with the waiter were: He was not knowledgeable about wine, when he poured our glasses he then proceeded to wipe the wine spout on the sleeve of his jacket, My steak was not cooked evenly ( more done on the top then the bottom), lastly the food was overpriced for the taste. Honestly, the shrimp cocktail was the best thing i had that night, besides the wine that I picked out. I would not recommend anyone go here and spend the money they would like you to spend on the poor service and quality of the food.
The ambiance is perfect! Service was impeccable! The shrimp cocktail was awsome! My fiance and I both got the bone in ribeyes. They were both cooked to perfection for us. There wasnt a bit of flavor to the steaks at all. We both put the flavored butter for the bread on our steaks to give them some kind of flavor. I was very disappointed to say the least. We are from around Cincinnati and stayed two nights in Indy to celebrate both of our birthdays. We booked reservations because numerous of our friends and family told us that the steaks were amazing along with the shrimp cocktail. Maybe the cook forgot to season the steaks? We both enjoyed ourselves but we most likely would not spend the money to dine here again. I am just telling you our opinion and i am not telling you this to get something for free! I also do not want anyone to not go there because of my review. The place is very rich in history and again the service was impeccable!
Great experience and wonderful meal!
St. Elmo's has never disappointed us. We had a reservation and was seated immediately upon arrival. Our server was very attentive to everything we needed. The steaks were tender enough to cut with a fork. Everything was delicious.
Shimp Cocktail was wonderfully spicy! Cream Spinach was amazing too. They cook to the rare side so prepared for that. I was still full the next day. Very rich food!
I felt like a little bit slow for coming out the food and really quick for picking up a food...
Hosted a retirement celebration dinner recently. Was fortunate to have a private room, otherwise the noise would've made conversation difficult. That said, our service and meals were excellent. St. Elmo is always a good choice while in Indy.
This was one of the best places that I have ever eaten at. The service was great. The food was amazing! You must try the surf n turf. Best I've ever had. I would highly recommend eating here.
Food and service was good. The area we were seated in was quite congested!
Such a great place to go for a special occasion. It’s very pricey but well worth it for a celebration. From host to wait staff to bus help, they are all very professional, attentive and experts at what they do. Highly recommend St Elmo’s if you want to be well taken care of and enjoy a GREAT dinner.
As always, food and service were exceptional. Our favorite downtown restaurant, best filet in town!! We enjoy having Amy as our server (one of only five female servers) and decided to request her each time we dine there.
Service was absolutely top notch. Food a little pricey, but worth it because it was all quite tasty plus you pay for the attraction of eating at St. Elmos which is a status symbol.
Visited to celebrate wife's birthday, and as always this place is one of the best Steak Houses I've ever eaten at. We really enjoyed our dinners and the staff was friendly and welcoming as always.
I’m surprised that the restaurant has only one appetizer because they believe their shrimp cocktail is so special. While good it’s not spectacular
We had a Birthday celebration while my son is in town after coming home from Afghanistan.
Excellent as always
Good service. 2 out of 3 steaks over cooked and slightly charred. Not impressed. Have had as good or better for a lot cheaper.
Food was outstanding, very nice ambiance and excellent service. Pretty expensive.
Best steak I've ever eaten. Delicious, tender and full of flavor. Service was perfect. Highly recommend this restaurant.
We were given a gift certificate for our meal. The waitress was amazing and very helpful and attentive. My ribeye was grilled to perfection. I had never had the Lobster Bisque and it awesome. Food was very promptly served . I would go back in a minute. Well done.
Outstanding food, atmosphere and ridiculously professional service staff. It ain’t cheap but you get what you pay for.
St Elmo's was amazing. The service was exceptional and the food was amazing!! Highly recommend
Our server Steve was phenomenal and made our entire meal. We shared every item ordered (a starter, salad, New York strip, and two sides) and still brought home leftovers.
Steak I ordered was supposed to be medium rare but it was cold in the center. Waiter also overcharged me for a drink as well. Service was pretty poor from him. I wouldn't recommend this place as it is overjoyed and I've had better steaks at home. Pie was good though.
We had been planning on going to St. Elmo's for years every time we visited Indianapolis. But we didn't. This time we did and it was worth the wait. The food was great and the service was excellent. We will be back.
Was recommended by friends. The food and service were excellent!
