SqWires Ratings and Reviews
We lucked into this restaurant by chance. I didn’t know what to expect, but it met all my expectations! Excellent food, interesting and creative food choices, terrific and attentive service. We were even mived to a nicer table closer to the fire place! Will definitely go again. Cool renovations!
The ambiance is wonderful with the fire burning in the corner. The waitress and staff were very friendly . My French toast and sausage were both a little dry, and the sausage was tough. My daughter's scrambled eggs were a little too runny for her and she thought her sausage was tough also. My husband thought his breakfast scramble was wonderful though.
We each enjoyed our meal. We ordered the Salmon which was cooked just right, not dry or over cooked. My husband ordered the river & thoroughly enjoyed it as well. My some had the pepperoni pizza special (w/out the pepperoni, lol) & he said he could have eaten two. Management came by to be sure we enjoyed our main course as well. We splurged & had the flourless cake, (divine), the strawberry bread pudding (very generous portion) & the adult hot chocolate (which was a little strong for me but I finished it just the same). This will go on our short list for when we are in the area.
I gave this place two stars because we had a horrible experience. I would usually rate it a 3.5-4. We had a reservation and we requested booth seating, of which this place has a long wall. Sqwires was busy. And we were told reservations are for the round table/chairs by the door with drafty windows. We took the “reserved” table and waited to be served. After we sat at the table for 5-10 minutes, a table vacated in he booth area We weren’t offered that, even though the hostess was aware we preferred booth seating. Finally, a server helped us and he was apologetic. We ordered drinks and he promised to return in a minute to take our order Another 10-15 minutes later, our drinks were delivered. The server promised to come back in a minute to get our order. After several more minutes, we debated about just leaving. As we were deciding, he came to take our order. I could stop now, but know, the order wasn’t made correctly. By then I told my husband to forget it. He ate his food but mine sat there because my eggs weren’t done and the potatoes and biscuit were cold. Another server came to deliver new eggs, but didn’t replace the cold sides. It’ll be a long while before I choose to return!
Overall, everything was fantastic. We were doing for Saturday brunch. Everyone constantly had a full mimosa and was able to enjoy the afternoon! I didn’t rate a full five stars because we had a reservation and still ended up waiting 20 mins. Which isn’t bad but personally that defeats the purpose of a reservation. The food was fantastic, absolutely delicious. Our waitress was wonderful!
Fantastic as usual!! There was five of us that got together to celebrate 2 birthdays and exchange Christmas gifts so we were there quite a long time. The service was delightful and we never felt rushed! The food was amazing as it always is everytime we go!!
Recommended by wife, went for my birthday - great vibe, live music was fantastic, very lively - made a reservation Sunday morning at 10 that we didn't need - picked up pretty quickly thereafter. The service didn't suffer despite our waiter being busy with a larger party. Eggs Benedict is my favorite dish so I try it anytime I see it on menu - it was fantastic. Bloody Mary bar and Mimosas are pretty great as well.
SqWires had several, fantastic Vegan choices! I and other members of Meetup Groups I work with as an event organizer look for places that offer quality choices for everyone. SqWires offered a variety of vegan and vegetarian options in a warm, relaxing atmosphere. Additionally, the staff provided excellent service. Everyone enjoyed themselves. We will be back.
Second time visiting Sqwires for brunch, and just as good as before! Bottomless mimosa bar is where it's at...$14, and our server came around repeatedly with more champagne. Loved being able to make my own juice combos at the beverage station. The food was good, too!
Earlier this year we re-discovered Sqwires. Its been around a long time with lots of changes but the food and service were very good and a great value. On any other occasion, I would have probably rated the Ambiance higher but we were having a family dinner before a show and didn't realize there would be a guitar player in the middle of the restaurant. He sounded very good but made it almost impossible for us to talk at the table. Kevin the waiter and team were very attentive and the food was great. I will go back, but probably not when I want a quite evening.
