I made a reservation at Squeaky Bean on Open Table for my work colleagues and me for lunch on Wednesday, June 28th. I read that morning in a blog that the restaurant was closing forever that night after dinner. I called and called that morning to confirm that information was correct, but no one answered the phone. My colleagues and I showed up at the Squeaky Bean for the lunch -- because the restaurant had a cancellation policy that would charge me $40 per person if I didn't show up -- but the restaurant had a sign out saying that it was closing early to prepare for that night's last dinner. I am extremely annoyed that the restaurant didn't call or otherwise notify me that it would be closed for lunch.
One of my favorite eateries. We were there for my birthday brunch, and the kitchen surprised us with a dessert of doughnut holes, ice cream, and fresh berries with a raspberry coulis. And one candle, ha. It was delicious, thank you! A thoughtful, lovely gesture, and awesome service as always.
The person cleaning our tables was more informative and helpful than our server. Our server was inattentive. There were 4 of us ready to eat a huge meal. Usually, when you order "shared plates" there should be enough for at least 2-3 people. We ordered about 5 plates to share and it wasn't enough for even one person. It was basically a side dish at 10-15 bucks a pop. Then we ordered an entrée, the lamb, and were completely underwhelmed by the size...once again, the entrée was a few mouthfuls. The server could've offered a tasting menu or told us to order more at least but he didn't. After I spent almost 200 on "dinner" we went to the comedy club and ordered nachos and cheeseburgers. I have eaten at plenty of high-end restaurants and this just isn't worth it. the food bites I did eat were wonderful but sorry, we aren't Rockefeller's.
Great food - everything was delicious and presented nicely. Service was great. Would definitely come back! Highly recommend in Denver.
This is my second time at the Squeaky Bean, and it didn't differ greatly from the first. The service both times was rather slow, but that isn't why I'm giving a low rating. This is more of just an FYI to anyone who plans to eat there. Our appetizers took a very long time to come out, and when they did, one of the appetizers was incorrect. They tried to clear our appetizer plates before we even got the final appetizer we ordered. When we got our dinners the food on 80% of the plates were cold. No one sent it back because everyone was very hungry by this point. The final issue was bringing us the wrong drink, which of course took a long time for them to even notice that we might want another cocktail. Overall the food was very tasty. The main entrees that came out cold were even raved about for flavor. They did take the messed up appetizer off the bill, as well as the messed up cocktail which of course helps soften the blow for a less than optimal experience. I really want to like the Squeaky Bean, but I've found myself never being wow'd and always a little underwhelmed. I might find myself going back, but it will be a while before I forget.
Service wasn't great. The huevos rancheros had undercooked vegetables and just wasn't a great dish. The other dishes were good though. Two plates and a coffee mug had chips in them. Not a deal breaker, but attention to detail for food that isn't cheap would be nice.
All dishes were excellent. Lamb was especially well prepared with tasteful garnishes. Drinks were equally great and paired well with the dishes we ordered.
Our server was great although I cannot remember his name. He truly created an experience for us. He was kind and patient. My husband and I visiting Denver for the first time. He really took his time to explain a lot about the city to us. The food was really good. I had the risotto and my husband had the scallops but the service was the best!
This is my second visit to this restaurant and my latest experience was great as was the first visit. My two friends and I all ordered different meals and shared. All were excellent; braised ribs, rack of lamb & seafood. Service was attentive, and helpful. Portions are small, and rather pricey, but then that is to be expected at nice places in Lodo. Overall, very satisfied with the meal and experience-----I recommend, and will return.
We loved everything we ordered. Best part was dessert of course: Strawberry Galente (sp?) YUMMM!!!
The staff was very helpful with food and drink options. They checked on us several times. The food was wonderfully crafted. We sat outside which was quiet and it was lit up with beautiful lights at night. I had the vegetarian option which was amazing while they person I went with had the scallops. All the food was good. We also had the sorbet which was delicious. I would recommend this to everyone for a quiet date night.
Food was absolutely amazing and they made my mom feel so appreciated on mother's day. Loved the huevos rancheros! My mom loved the crab cake egfs benedict so much she ate both which never happens! My mom and I will definitely be back again!
Food and location were good. Server was unpleasant with no personality. For that reason our experience was below average and I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to friends.
Went for our anniversary and as always, a great experience. Somewhat pricey but one taste and you'll realize your money was well spent.
My sister was in town from Boston and I wanted a special and fun place for brunch. This was amazing and beyond our expectations!! Super fun vibe, fabulous food, and great mimosas! Bingo and brunch at Squeaky Bean is a must do!!!!
Love the squeaky bean! No Denver trip is complete till I dine with them. Octopus carpaccio is of the charts and the chicken liver mouse is the best I have ever had. While I have tried every main course the bistro fillet and short rib is my go to. Let's not forget the great hand crafted cocktails. If you are a whiskey drinker the never say die is a must.
Great food, average to poor service. Bar / cocktail program was disappointing and inconsistent (ordered the same drink twice and it was totally different each time).

We came to celebrate 2 birthdays. A second visit for each couple; though several years ago for one and previous brunch for the other. We loved the food! The octopus carpaccio was a great surprise. We were not sure what to expect, but the octopus was seared perfectly, very tender and with the other flavors on the plate it was wonderful. Brussel sprouts were delicious. The short rib dinner was beautifully plated and scrumptious. The lamb chops and scallops were perfect. We had a delicious wine at a decent price and followed up with after dinner drinks which were generous and at a decent price. Of course a free birthday dessert of the banana panna cotta was a special touch and yummy, also. A very fun evening of delicious eats and drinks shared by friends.

We loved this place when we went for NYE, and that is why we went back most recently. I was disappointed to find however, that they had greatly reduced the number of vegetarian items on the menu since my previous visit. Meat eaters have a stellar choice, and vegetarians and vegans have one: A $19 plate of vegetables. And no, appetizers (of which there are few vegetarian/vegan ones) are not a main course. It's frustrating. It's 2017 and I find it difficult to believe that the culinary arts have not evolved enough to provide inspired vegetarian meals that go beyond plates of vegetables and salad. Where's the protein? There is a great deal of depth and breadth in vegetarian cuisine that should not be difficult for an experienced chef to produce. Yet choices are always limited. Meat eaters can eat vegetarian dishes; vegetarians cannot eat meat dishes. By expanding your vegetarian options you do not limit the meat eaters, and you engage more vegetarians and vegans. How is this not a win-win? I don't know that we will return, which is a shame as it is a lovely restaurant.
Squeaky Bean was pretty good. We had the green bean appetizer which was unique and very flavorful. The entrees were not as impressive. The chicken was cooked well but overall kind of bland (included some type of gravy that had no flavor at all; the white asparagus was also pretty bland). The purple potatoes, however, were great; we want to figure out how they were made because it was really interesting. Husband had the beef and it was fine but didn't blow us away. Server was nice and fairly attentive but not a lot of interaction or personality. For the price, we expected a little more, but overall it was good. Can't guarantee we would return just because there are hundreds of restaurants we've yet to try and nothing WOW'ed us.
Ever since they got a new chef, the food has been incredible!!!
The octopus is delish. Sitting on the patio was nice with Union Station in sight.
My husband and I went here for brunch for the first time this past Sunday based on other reviews-we were not disappointed!! They were quite busy, we were thankful we had reservations! The place was buzzing with excitement over the Bingo game they had going on, great drinks from the bar and amazing food from the farm!!! When you sit down there is someone to bring you water and get your drink order right away and then we had a different waitress for our food order.
I ordered the pork belly and grits, which was AMAZING!! My husband ordered the crab cake Benedict, which was pretty awesome too!! We also ordered the house made donuts for dessert, which were incredibly delicious!!!
We will definitely be back again!!

The weekend Bingo/Brunch is a must do! The food and selection was outstanding. Jugs of mimosas or bloody marys for $20! Get a group of friends together to check it out. You definitely should make a reservation through Open Table to do it though!
We loved the unique and creative choices. Everything we ordered was delicious. The servers were friendly and helpful.
The scallops were phenomenal! We had a 7:30pm show at Buell Theater and the server made sure we had everything (including a great dessert) with plenty of time. My friends said it was the best restaurant in Denver!
Brunch was great although the music was strange and a little distracting. Not a ton of lighter or vegan options- but great if you're looking for a hearty meal.

Small portions for the price, but that was expected. Not a place I would jump to for a second tasting, but good flavors overall.
I was expecting more options on the menu for my business lunch with a client. I like the premise of the place for its farm to table foods. I love eating fresh. The quinoa salad was referred to me by the waitress to be the best thing on the menu, but its dressing was pretty bland, so it was kind of a disappointment. The avocado in it was like guacamole vs slices, which I was not expecting either, based on it just noting avocado and not 'avocado mash', which makes a difference, to me at least.
On the other hand, the brussel sprout appetizer was so awesome. It had pine nuts and raisins in it. Very yummy. Highy recommend it. Only enough for two people though. Keep that in mind if ordering for a larger table.
My client got the burger and it came with both fries and a small mixed green salad. Looked good, he said it is the best thing on the menu. He works in the building, so has been here before. If there had been more options other than mostly appetizers, salads or a chicken dinner, burger or duck neck sandwich, I would give it a better rating. But maybe that's part of their theme. Which is fine too. :)
3 of us went for Sunday brunch and bingo. We all ordered different benedicts (lamb neck, crabcake and avocado). All were very tasty. I like that the menu has just a few selections, allowing us to order quickly and get right into socializing and playing bingo. Gluten free friendly and very fun place for a Sunday brunch.
Small menu although a variety of choices. Food was very good but not fabulous. Scallop entree was small for a large plate. The striped bass was good however it came with a very yummy broth that called out for some bread to enjoy it with. We requested some bread and we were informed we could order a side of toasted bread. Really? For these prices, they should have just brought us some bread. Of course, we order some and paid for it rather than leave that yummy broth behind. It was the best part of the dish in my option. The brussel sprouts were very yummy! I would definitely recommend them. All in all, I would return if meeting others there for dinner but it probably wouldn't be my first choice with the variety of restaurants in Boulder and Denver.
I kept hearing good things about The Squeaky Bean, however we were somewhat underwhelmed by the selections and the ambiance. The menu is quite small - limited selection - especially for more vegetable oriented folks like us. That being said, the food we had was good. The ambiance is more like a bar, which also surprised us... I guess we just weren't ready for what we got.
Octopus was delicious! Beef tartar wasn't quite what I was expecting. Lamb entree was very good. It was pretty quiet in the restaurant especially for a Friday night- was hoping for something little more lively. Service was great though.
Not many options for vegetarians. The brussels sprouts were burnt beyond healthfulness as were the carrots with the short ribs.
Our hometown is Aspen and we thought we were used to high-priced dining but we were still surprised and disappointed about the value
I had a reservation for 20 people for Bingo Brunch and they were VERY accommodating! Food was outstanding, service was great, BINGO was fantastic! if I absolutely had to complain, it would be that it was difficult to hear the bingo announcer and see the board, but that was due largely because they were nice enough to seat us in our own lounge section. I will be returning!
Love, love, love this place. Food, service, drinks, dessert - all were wonderful!! Can't wait to go back.
