Square 1682 Ratings and Reviews
Made reservations here for dinner with a work group. Food was decent, environment was a little strange. It was pretty empty for a Monday evening, and they sat us back near the kitchen. It was loud and odd to watch the chefs/cooks be a little silly and not professional while preparing meals. Server was very nice and attentive! Probably would not come back though.
We enjoyed the food at this restaurant and everyone in our party was pleased with the beautiful mushroom and glazed carrots that adorned the plates. The Thai Curry Mussels that I selected were delicious and I would order them again. Two in our party had enjoyable beef ribs.
The main problem was the uncomfortable seats at the table and the noise level.
First, the seats.... when we first sat down we thought the seats were broken since we sunk down into the stools cushion. We tried several other chairs in the restaurant but the others nearby were the same.
Second, the noise level was quite high when we arrived for our 6 pm reservation and we considered leaving and going somewhere else where we could talk. Things eventually calmed down once the bar crowd started to leave but at the begining it was us shouting at one another. It was a first meet for some of us in our group and not easy to communicate.
Third, the toilet facilities are rather obscure and difficult to find. Luckily our waiter was standing near the door to the steps that we needed to take. He did offer the use of the elevator to get there to one member of our party, but not to me. It was two flights up!
George was an attentive waiter and we liked having him come around every so often to refill waters and check on is but he didn't hover.
The restaurant is connected to a hotel, Palomar, which I didn't know when I made the reservation and that might account for the busy bar scene.
All in all, there are so many good restaurants in Philadelphia, I might choose another next time, but since this is around the corner from my husbands office, he might try it for a business lunch.
Have been here before and glad I visited again. The waiter was very friendly and accommodating. We requested the special omelette of the day with egg whites only, no problem, and also my gluten-free diet was accommodated. Delicious breakfast and good staff.
My husband got the burger with no bacon. I had a bite. I️t was delicious. I got the brie grilled cheese. Too much caramelized onion marmalade and not enough cheese. I️t should be named the caramelized marmalade sandwich with cheese and not grilled cheese. Tomato soup was delicious and the grains and greens salad was good. We were the only ones in there for lunch. Service was ok
First time in Friday, was super Impressed the dinner menu as well as the restaurant week menu .
Usually never order from restaurant week menu..nevertheless the menu was extremely cohesive and the food was amazing.
The Staff : our Waitress Sasha was Super
*extremely Knowledgeable about food and drink pairings
* very attentive - we felt like the only guest in the room! (The place was packed) 😃
*The Management on point - helping the wait staff and Survey the room etc.
*The host was friendly and suggested we try lunch there as well because we live and work so Close .
Also I posted some food photos on Instagram and the Hotel page thanked me the picture which was cool 😎
This restaurant is the Hotel Palomar's restaurant. The TV was on with a crowd of people watching the NFL playoff game. While I understand a Philadelphia crowd wanting to see the game, it doesn't exactly signal fine dining. The food was all right, neither great nor awful. The service was pretty slow though reasonably capable.
We should've ordered a la carte instead of the Thanksgiving special
Tbe turkey waz cut off a breast in a faux "cutlet" style and roasted until the pointy end was hard. It was a thick slab instead of nice moist slice roasted turkey that you expect on Thanksgiving. Very disappointing. .
We like to come to the city a couple of times a year and try new restaurants but we find ourselves always coming back to Square 1682. Only restaurant we have visited more than one since coming to the city and I am sure we will be back here next month for our yearly date anniversary.
I always enjoy Square 1682. The ambiance is very nice, the restaurant is vibrant but not noisy, and the food and service - superior. Try the bronzino....I loved it! Our server made every attempt to make us feel well attended to, and was open to our substitutions on our entrees. I will be back again!
