This place, what can I say. We've been wanting to try it out for ages, but have never found the time (we're both busy millennials). Even if you can't get a reservation I would say to just walk in and see if you can get a table. We went for Valentine's day and it wasn't that crowded. I recommend the Lionfish Buns - their buns are second only to my girlfriend's (gnaw gnaw gnaw). Normans's Kay: We'll see ya again soon!

My husband and I went here for a date night and absolutely loved it. Delicious food, amazing spices, authentic but prepared with a unique flair. Great service and drinks -- a wonderful experience. He had the jerk chicken tacos, I had the jerk salmon and we shared the conch fritters.

LION FISH is delicious!!!!!
This is an invasive, destructive reef fish w few predators.....so they are moving into a neighborhood near you! They have a very painful, dangerous sting, so we must eat them all up! This is the only restaurant I know of [through the NYTimes] that serves them in NYC. It is an enchanting place.... I would go there in a heartbeat even without the Lion fish. I recommend it with enthusiasm & look forward to my next visit .

This place is okay. The jerk pork steam buns were good but for them to be so small they were not worth $12. The escovitch sea bass was delicious as well but also not worth $21 if I getting a fillet and not the whole fish. I would eat there again for happy hour if the prices are cheaper or the portion size was slightly larger. I would not travel back to the city from Queens just for the food.

The food was ok, but I was expecting more. I hoping it was because it was a cold Sunday night and basically empty. The jerk chicken appetizer was a lil burnt and the gaucamole was not fresh. The conch fritters were really good and so were the lion fish tacos. I would try again on a busier night. I went when it just spur tree a few years back and had a better experience overall.

Fun times at this rustic venue. The only thing is even with reservations they only had a table by the door and it was FREEZING that night. So every time someone walked in we had to get up and close the door behind them so we wouldn't feel the chill. Recommending them getting a small heater for that area. If it wasn't for the food we would have prob left.

Not a lot of good Jamaican food in this city but this is the best. Excellent curry goat and rice & peas. Good music in the upstairs lounge

The staff was excellent. Food and drinks were good. Mac and cheese would be better if it were made to order. Chocolate cake could have been warmer. The fried fish with rice and peas was excellent. Service is extremely slow, which is ok if you're not starving to death and are in good company.

Some dishes are really spicy so make sure to double check with the waitress before ordering if you're more into mild hotness. That said, I really like the food there, simple and good, and I would recommend it for everyday dining, or casual dining with friends. Overall the ambiance is good, relaxed and not too noisy. Waitresses are usually very sweet but be depending on nights or how crowded the place is, be prepared to wait for ages for your order to be ready. I suspect the kitchen to be understaffed and they really need to make some improvements there, cause no matter how good the food is, this can be a real deal breaker.

Being a Jamaican I am always looking for food cooked close to home style. I have to say me and my husband enjoyed. I hadthe fish tacos that was very good and my husband had the striped bass. Atmosphere was nice... Though the restaurant was quite small. Overall good experience.

This place has some of the best Caribbean food in the city. Their plantains and shrimp appetizers are the best I've ever had. A tip though, you can make a reservation for around midnight, but the kitchen closes at 11 so be mindful. You'll only be able to get patties and drinks after that.

Reason why we came here is my elementary classmate wanted to try the lionfish. If you like bony fish, then this is the fish dish for you. If you like meaty fish, then it's not for you IMHO. The oxtail stew is also very delicious. I split the lionfish and oxtail stew with my classmate. BTW There are two lionfishes in an entree. I think the appetizers are spectacular. If you want to try Bahamia fusion, this is the place otherwise you would have to travel to Bahamas.

I was so disappointed by the slow service, that I would be embarrassed to refer anyone this restaurant. The food was very good, but by the time the food arrived we weren't hungry anymore. It took our food an hour after we ordered to receive it, which left a poor taste in our mouths. One of our friends at the table is a restaurant owner and stated that if the service was this slow he would've comped us something, which wasn't offered.

Despite what I read from the other reviews I still went ahead and made reservations. Everyone in my party arrived about 9:20pm (we had 9pm reservations). The hostess told us we could wait upstairs at the bar and we would be seated as soon as a section was cleared. Our waitress came upstairs around 10 to say that the kitchen was backed up so we should place our orders ahead of time. About 10:20pm we were finally seated and ordered our drinks in hopes that the food didn't take long. About 10:45 the waitress came and said that myself and one of my guests had to change our order because there was no more oxtails. I declined to change my order because it was late already and only God knows how long it would take to prepare the food. A little after 11pm everyone's food finally came. The portions looked like they were for children. 2 people ordered the jerk chicken and requested white meat, which is usually a breast and wing...they instead were given a drumstick and thigh. The service was bad and I will never go back there. Food was over priced for no reason. Wasn't worth the money that was spent.

We went here on a Saturday evening. The goat curry was great! (Though portions could be a bit larger). It took almost an hour to get our food. We would have appreciated a heads up on the wait time and / or some bread while we waited.

The restaurant is adorable with a great ambiance. We went on a Friday night. When we walked in it was crowded. We were asked to wait at the bar for our 8 pm reservation. We waited about 20 mins past our reservation time. Then we were seated. The restaurant is very small, so when we sat down there were a ton of people literally standing right next to our table waiting for their tables. We placed our order... then waited, and waited, and waited. We thought the waitress forgot to put our food order in... because she did forget to put our drink orders in. When we finally got our food at 9:30 pm (remember we had an 8 pm reservation!) ... we were very happy that the food was good! I think they need to hire more servers and cooks for busy nights. We liked it enough that we are going to give it a try on a less busy evening to see if the service issue was a fluke or if the restaurant always operates on "Island Time."

i went with my boyfriend for an early V Day dinner. And i have to say,i was amazed at how amazing the food was. Being that i am Jamaican, it is rare to find a great restaurant that reminds me of home. THIS WAS IT!!!!!!! the young lady who served us was such a sweetheart and very accommodating to my comfort. (7 months pregnant)

I will definitely be going back in March for my mother's birthday in March!!!

The food was absolutely top shelf and the service was best in class. Quiet and cozy, the atmosphere was very relaxed. The menu is loaded with scrumptious Caribbean dishes with a splash of Asian, the combination is a hit. This is definitely one of New York City's hidden gems.

The waitress got 3/7 orders wrong - one didn't even come out. No apologises were offered but sass was served. They need to sort themselves out.
However, Painkiller cocktails were good. That's the only thing they did right.

We chose Norman's Cay strictly for the Lionfish, it was delicious! They have fried or grilled, we ate both. I prefer the grilled and their seasonings were to die for. It is the whole fish so be prepared for bones and lots of them. But it was worth it! Service was excellent!!
