Spuntino is an intimate, Italian inspired restaurant nestled into the heart of the historic Potter Highland neighborhood, owned and run by a wife and husband, chef and manager team along their small, dedicated staff. We are obsessed with what we do and dedicate ourselves to sharing our passion for wonderful food, drink, and service with our lovely guests. We are inspired by our travels, our diverse culinary experience, our wonderful purveyors, by the seasons, and by the wonderful guests we have a pleasure to serve. We are a from-scratch kitchen, making everything we are reasonably able to in house, including breads, cheeses, pastas, gelati, a wide range of digestivi and amari, and more. We look forward to your visit!
What Insiders Are Saying
An excellent choice for special occasions, Spuntino is all about great pasta and wine.
We loved this restaurant and will be back soon. Amazing food and service
We had not been to Spuntino for about 3 years and I am not sure why! It was great the first time and equally as great this time! From the moment we arrived, Spuntino had professional and friendly service, delicious food and an overall nice vibe. I will not wait so long to return again! It was a wonderful dinner!
The best restaurant in Denver.
Delicious neighborhood gem. Superior food, excellent cocktails, wonderful dessert, and great service
Couldn’t have been better.
Cool space. Small, cozy and well decorated. Food is solid across the board. We had several entrees and small plates. Good portions and price for the quality. Only complaint would be on drink service. Took a long time to be able to order (15 minutes) and receive drinks (15 minutes).
The food and service at Spuntino were fantastic. We had a lot of questions and our waitress did an amazing job at helping us understand the menu, pick good drinks to go with our food, and make good choices over all. We really loved everything.
We sat outside at one of the two patio tables. It was nice and quiet outside and a wonderful evening. Inside the restaurant seemed much louder and so we were glad to be outside; that said, everyone inside seemed to be having an amazing time too.
Wonderful food and service was excellent. The basilcello after the meal unique and quite tasty.
Only criticism was noice level was high.
Service was fantastic! Charcuterie was great. Buratta was great. The pasta was terrible. Boxed pasta and jar sauce is more satisfying.
Hi Holly, While I'm happy you enjoyed most of your experience, we're quite sad to hear your comments about the pasta. We take an enormous amount of pride in what we do and especially in our pastas and while we know that we'll occasionally make cooking mistakes or certain dishes will not to be to certain guests' taste, we can only do something to address it if we know. We would have happily found you something you enjoyed better had you communicated.
Delicious food and GF options. They accommodated our party of 8 with a large square table that made it easy to converse. Will definitely recommend to friends.
Great food, service and atmosphere!! Recommend it
Had a wonderful evening....we all had pasta dishes that were to die for, started with antipasto and calimari and topped our meal off with the homemade spumoni. Service was wonderful and Chef Austen cam out greet and explain menu to us! Thank you for a memorable meal and experiece...
Best restaurant in Denver. 50 characters not needed.
We adore Spuntino! It's such a cozy, neighborhood spot. Every staff member is incredible and we love all the food, especially the charcuterie board that changes everyday. The drinks are a little expensive but also delicious. Definitely going back for happy hour!
My only issue is they canceled our reservation because we were 15 minutes late. Did not call the cell number to check. We did get served when we arrived but not at the best table.
Outstanding cocktails; great pastas, menu remains consistent and varying dishes would be much appreciated. Excellent wines
Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and was very helpful with out questions.
One of the best restaurants in Denver
Great neighborhood restaurant. A wonderful find and gourmet food with attentive and friendly service. You should go to this restaurant. You will not be disappointed!!!
Outstanding. Great food, service & atmosphere. A bit noisy, but we’ll be back.
I love this place. I always get the scallops...because I love them. This time they were on the menu with a spring profile including corn, which unfortunately I'm allergic to. They swapped out the corn for English peas (I LOVE ENGLISH PEAS) and the dish was A-MAZAING!! I think the peas made it perfect! I went back twice in less than two weeks, because the dish was so good. They have a phenomenal wine list, homemade pastas, fresh everything! I love this place!!
Spuntino is a neighborhood treasure!
My husband and I celebrated our 46th wedding anniversary!
Anna, our server, was beyond lovely!
Food is fresh and delicious!
Always a special occasion to dine at Spuntino!
We had an excellent meal. Great service. Started with calamari - lightly breaded perfectly fried. Then salad with strawberry's, a mild goat's milk cheese and candied cashews. third was a pasta dish. Perfectly cooked with a mushroom, sausage sauce. Delicious. Last was a duck leg, fava bean and faro dish. Wow - was a blend of textures and tastes difficult to describe but intensely good. Dessert was three tastes of gelato.
Our waitress was professional. She discussed the dishes, explained things, suggested a super tasty homemade lemon salty minty basil soda. We'll be back!
Great overall dining experience
Wonderful return visit. We sat outside and we treated like old friends.
The food was fantastic and our waiter was extremely knowledgeable.
I have eaten at Spuntino a couple of times before this visit and have enjoyed it but this visit was not good. We were dining there before a concert downtown and had 90 minutes in which to eat dinner before we needed to leave. We made that known to our waiter when we arrived and were assured that would not be a problem. Unfortunately, it was. Our entrees came out 15 minutes before we were due to leave and we had to have them boxed up in order to make the show. And to top it all off, I ordered that night's special and it was so salty, it was inedible. I don't know what was going on in the kitchen that night but it left us with a very bad taste for this restaurant.
Excellent food! As older folks we were challenged by the high noise level. We were in the back room where a group of eight at one table greatly contributed to our difficulty hearing each other. That good review in the Post brought them. Kudos for Spuntino!
I would gladly return, but none of the other three will. And any recommendations will mention the noise. (The noise factor has been the reason we don't frequent many other very good restaurants.)
My only regret was not having room for dessert. Wonderful staff. Salami, burrata and warm olives were fantastic. Fig raviolini and scallops incredible. Finished with a Cappelletti Sour to close out a perfect birthday meal. Seasonal selections. I can't wait to return. The house made gelato and zeppole are calling out to me!!!
For an early pre-theater dinner, we had Spuntino to ourselves for a while and even after other patrons arrived we were treated like the only guests. Each dish was fresh and outstanding, with unusual and creative ingredients that complimented in balance. From pork cheeks, house-made pasta, topped off with gelato, we were satisfied in every way. Service was prompt and helpful; attentive without disrupting our night out.
This is the best restaurant in Denver. Cozy up to the "chef's table" at the bar, ask for the tasting menu and enjoy conversation with the owner.
Quite possibly the best homemade pasta I have ever had. The pasta del giorno was a flat noodle with buttery sauce, fresh herbs from their garden, tender pork belly and amazing mushrooms. The drinks were immaculate, the service and ambiance were great, and don't leave without trying a HOMEMADE gelato sampler. I was blown away, and will be back.
Absolutely great! All aspects
Could not have been better, well, unless it was free. Everything top to bottom was superb. Rotating the menu makes me always want to go back to see what they come up with next.
Sputino has become our go-to date place. Great food, wonderful ambiance, great service at the bar, house made truffles and limoncello to top it all off. Can't be beat.
All the food was delicious and executed perfectly. The servers were friendly and responsive. A great dinner.
Always a great experience. Spot on food and service. One of my go to places.
Excellent food. Noisy restaurant, exacerbated by loud music.
Magical at every moment from our drinks, service and incredible dishes our lovely server took us on. We felt like we were back in New York City with incredible food at our finger tips.
I did not enjoy sitting at the crowded and uncomfortable bar as an alternative to our reserved table outside on a rainy evening. I wasn’t aware that reserving a table outside would relegate us to the bar in the event of poor weather and feel that the restaurant should make it clear that a table indoors may not be available. A complimentary cocktail or desert for our inconvenience would have been a nice gesture but that wasn’t offered. The most unappealing part about sitting at the bar was the noise level. The wait staff brought dirty dishes and silverware behind and just below the bar right in front of us scraping and clattering the plates and tossing them into tubs throughout the evening. The food was good and well prepared but the experience was unpleasant and customer service poor. The bartender and servers were pleasant.
Hi Paua, When we saw you had booked our patio on a thoroughly rainy night, we did try to call you (~5pm) but were unable to leave a voicemail. Since many guests seek out our bar to dine, we figured saving space there for you would be appreciated since our tables inside were booked and we hadn't heard from you. Had you let us know your concerns while you were here, we would have done whatever we could to help. We're glad you enjoyed the food, but wish we had a chance to take better care of you.
