Amazing menu, amazing cocktails and wonderful staff. We will be back.
The sea scallops are to die for! The Brussels sprouts appetizer is delicious. The atmosphere is a little dated and old fashioned, but is still nice.
Our server was fantastic. Super nice and knowledgeable. Forgot her name but she had blonde dreadlocks. Food was pretty good. I will definitely come back for another brunch.
Overpriced Boulder brunch with great service
Brussels Sprouts appetizer was wonderful, but our main dinners and dessert were not great...fish and chips were bland; steak (with fries) was tasty but very chewy; chicken sandwich was mediocre. Dessert was a weird combination of cheesecake and ice cream, which was disappointing, too. We’ll stick to appetizers and burgers in the future.
Service was very slow! we had to wait a long time to order. I ordered a Mimosa which took 15 to 20 minutes plus to arrive. The Huevos Rancheros was just “okay” it didn’t live up to the hype. very mild and odd! had peas and squash 🤫 peas?? our coffee wasn’t refreshed when promised. we had to keep asking for water refills and coffee refills. it also seemed that our server wanted us out of the table because she kept asking us if she could give us our coffee in a cup to go. I didn’t think that was appropriate. And when we did ask for a coffee and a water refill we had to wait a further 10 minutes before she came around.
The food is great, the service is outstanding and it’s a lovely place to have a delicious meal!
Great variety, service was expectational and food was amazing. Loved how many Gluten free options were available. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
Great selection, and everything was delicious. Many healthy options and fresh local offerings! Will visit again and again.
Never lets us down. One of our special occasion places.
Sadly not up to past experiences. Order was wrong, drinks did not get refilled. Service was slow.
the food always tastes great; nice ambience, quiet and relaxed.
excellent food from a wide menu,
We've curtailed our dining out due to Covid, but decided to go to the Boulderado on New Years Day. We ordered the duck (my wife) and prime rib for our mains. Both were excellent. My wife enjoyed a couple Herbal G the Pinot Noir was a perfect match for the prime rib. CJ waited on us and did an excellent job, even though the restaurant was busy. We have only one complaint and I'll take some responsibility for it. Spruce Farm however, it's always served luke warm (at best). We've noticed this every time we've ordered it, which is fairly often. Unfortunately, we always forget to ask that it be served hot, so it's our bad too. Still, the kitchen needs to learn from this and check the heat before serving it. All in all, we're glad we went to SF&F and will continue to go there - and to Corner Bar - but hope the kitchen reads this review and makes this small adjustment in its service.
My husband & I drove to Boulder from Longmont for photos with Christmas decorations in the Boulderado Hotel (where I have stayed once or twice a year since the late 80s).
We reserved a table for brunch & were happy to get a Booth for comfort. I broke my ankle/leg this past Covid time period.
Quit chemo at end of June 2021. So we are celebrating, albeit on a budget.
We both moved from the east coast (VA him, CT me) in June 1982. Met doing a show at Nomads Theatre (star/him; director/me). Married a year later.
Moved to Longmont when rents/mortgages for houses in Boulder went Sky High. Bought a 989 sq. ft house in East L'mont. We love L'mont---but MISS "old Boulder" with Penny Lane, Naropa Beats (Ginsberg, Ed Dorn still alive et alia.)
Anyway, feeling sentimental, bummed with Covid ruining many plans, various & sundry health disasters. Spruce cheered us up to no end!
Lily a wonderful, kind, attentive, knowledgeable server. Food beyond delicious (avocado benedict + fruit/me; prime rib hash/him). I got a lavender mimosa, so exquisite (first alcoholic drink since quitting chemo). The place was calmer & quieter than usual, we came at a time not super busy. Always, music is great (1930s, N'Orleans Jazz, 1950s Twilight Time type of music).
We entered 2022 with JOY thanks to Lily, the chef, bartender & all the people who help run this beautiful hotel/restaurant. Happy New Year to you all!!!
To say it was busy on Christmas was obvious. What we liked best, this restaurant tried on all levels to create a Christmas experience for everyone in the midst of busy beyond busy. Food was very good, service was great given all of the activity, and as the restaurant cleared a bit, the noise level came down, and conversation was easier. Glad we chose this restaurant for our family gathering and we will be back to sample other offerings.
This was a special Christmas Day dinner, it met all of my expectations!
CJ provided great service and the whole experience was wonderful.
Elevated seating area was way too closely packed. Should probabaly not seat the middle two tables. I was not comfortable sitting there given covid spread.
They moved us and all was ok.
Very nice Christmas lunch, the set Christmas menu was hideously expensive so we went for the main menu - food very good, service very nice, no overly long waiting time - it was Christmas and we are all aware that staffing is an issue during this time so I've absolutely no complaints - I was aware of comments made on this.
I'd return, it's not that smartest of restaurants - pretty casual and a little down at heal - we were in the 'conservatory' area but the noise levels were very acceptable.
As a party of two we got a very uncomfortable table. The hostess was not very sympathetic about the seats used for twosomes. She seem rather abrupt when she seated us. We heard he being rather unfriendly to several other couples as well, so it wasn't just us. That was the downside. Our food was good, although my pork loin was slightly over, it was well seasoned. Our waiter treated us well, and we noted that things were busy because of Christmas.
3 neighborhood couples spent a lovely Christmas brunch at the Boulderado. It is a very special place to my husband and I because it is where we had our first date 34 years ago. The atmosphere, the gigantic tree and historic feel of the hotel brings back wonderful memories. The food never fails to inspire and the waitstaff is always professional and kind. In short, it was perfect!
The food is excellent, the service was great, and the ambiance is so nice!
great quality food. I will come back soon, 100% recommend.
We dined on Xmas Eve, and everything about the experience was really inconsistent. I had requested dining at a table instead of a booth b/c my husband just had knee surgery, and the put us at a table up in the raised center area where he had to navigate stairs on crutches, although there were empty tables in the main dining area. Our waiter was lovely but seemed nervous/ rushed and was sweating quite a bit—not sure why. It took a while to order and be served but then the food came out in a rush, after clearly sitting under heat lamps fir a bit. Plating was not existent, and our food was dry (salmon), undercooked (risotto, cauliflower steak), and under seasoned (bucatini). We skipped dessert as we didn’t have high hopes. In general, the whole meal was waaaayyyy overpriced for what it was—$150 for pasta, salmon, cauliflower, pellegrino snd calamari. We went fully understanding the anticipated price tag, but the quality of the food—preparation and plating—did not nearly justify the price.
Kept waiting at Check in but once settled Zach’s service was excellent. Will look forward to a repeat visit
Attentive and professional service. Great cocktails. Lots of choices on menu that appeal to us. And the food never disappoints.
Since so many other Boulder favorites have closed up, there aren’t many choices for a nice dinner in Boulder any more. Spruce has surprised us and become our go-to place for a date or get together.
We were there with our two granddaughters to enjoy an early Christmas brunch. Service was terrific and the food was outstanding. Don't miss the huge, decorated tree in the lobby,
New York Strip steak was worst I ever had anywhere!!! Completely covered with char, which causes cancer, and was awful for 39.99!!! My daughter’s birthday and very disappointed!!!
Didn’t even ask us if we wanted bread which we did!!! Nothing for her birthday which we told them and nothing!!
We had a wonderful Caesar salad and a fabulous duck dinner, even eating all of our vegetables because the au jus was too good to leave behind. Staff were all pitching in to keep up, even one of the chefs delivered our salad.
5:15 dinner reservation, timely seated. Approximately 40-50% of restaurant occupied. Waiter was accommodating, and we placed a drink order immediately.
5:30 we received drinks!!
Entrée of Mahi was 4-5 ounces: 2 vey small pieces on perhaps 1.5 cups of kale.
Flavors were good, but very small portion of fish and way too much kale.
Other entree of pasta was good.
After entrees delivered, we were abandoned and saw the waiter scurrying across the room and eventually he revisited 15 minutes later.
Then, upon clearing plates, waiter disappeared again for 15 minutes.
Finally received check and left at 7 pm...
The food was delicious, especially the sea scallops and the bison filet. The service was very good.
They seem to be understaffed. Every time I visited this past year, the food was extremely slow, and the server was attending too many tables. There was something wrong with one of our orders and I waited and waited to get the server’s attention. I ended up going up to the host to have her call our server. The server was courteous and he promptly corrected our order, but this disrupted our meal significantly.
Excellent food and ambience ! We have been coming to this place for a long time and it never disappoints :)
Our party enjoyed a tasty, well prepared dinner. The service was a good despite their being busy with the food served hot but before our salad and appetizer plates were cleared. Every food item was flavorful and prepared to the proper temperature.
Incredible meal in a terrific setting. Has become my wife’s and my go-to restaurants. Tonight, my wife, daughter had the Sea Scallops and Corn Nage, and the Sea Bass on Risotto. Perfectly prepared and perfectly served.
I would love to tell you about the food, but we never received or meals. After 45 minutes, with empty coffee cups and water glasses, or server came by to tell us that our order never got put in the system. We got up and promptly offered to pay for our coffees. So very nice of them to comp our coffees after the horrible experience. BTW, we also tried to have dinner here last night at 7:30. The hostess said the kitchen was backed up and they weren’t taking any more dinner guests. 2 time losers. Some things you can’t blame on wx or Covid. We won’t be back!
Seemed to be short staffed. We had a great table. Food took about 40 minutes with only half of the tables full. Half of our tables food was cold but no one even checked to see if we were satisfied with our food, no follow up for about 15 minutes after it was served. We had to ask for water refills 3x and we seemed to be annoying or putting out our wait staff when asking to refill our empty glasses. Food was overpriced but had it been warm and served with a smile we would have been fine spending that amount. Will think twice about going again.
Delicious piping hot quiche - with a tasty side salad and fruit - generous portions. Helpful and friendly staff. Eat on the enclosed porch - watch Boulderites pass by!
The ultimate dining experience with truly outstanding food and very pleasant and efficient wait staff.
