Springs Orleans Ratings and Reviews
It was a nice restaurant, but the hostess was extremely rude. I was shocked at how we were treated when we first got there. She spent 5 seconds trying to find out reservation, and when she couldn't find it, she told us we "were going to have to leave". THEN....she offered the bar as an option. When I told her I knew she had a reservation, she was a total smartass and said, "here, see for yourself". and I found my name on the list.
She really needs more training. I wish I could remember her name, she was in her mid-twenties and it was on Saturday, November 11th around 7 p.m. Maybe her name was Hannah??
I’ve been to Springs Orleans many times and always it’s been great, until now. We went for breakfast on Saturday with 9:30 AM reservations. When we got there the restaurant was less than half full. We walked up to the buffet and it was completely empty. No eggs, no bacon, some old soggy French toast, no sausages, no potatos, no fruit or granola etc. Maybe a little green chili. Took them 30 minutes to restock. While we were waiting, we ordered coffee which was brought to us cold and a Mamosa which was brought in a chipped glass. We ended up ordering omelettes which were included with the buffet. They were Holiday Inn Express quality omelettes. The waitstaff was apologetic and even comped us one of the Mamosa’s, but blamed the situation on being understaffed and overbooked. Overbooked? Hogwash. There were even fewer people in there by the time we left than when we arrived. In short, very disappointed and quite frankly embarrassed because I had out-of-town family and was trying to showcase Colorado Springs. Won’t be going back again.
Lovely evening. Great ambience. Efficient, professional service.
The food was very good with a nice mix of flavors. My only complaint was that the lobster meat was a bit bland. I blame the source of the meat, not the recipe (which was excellent). I notified the server so the kitchen knows they need to check their supplier.
I was impressed with the gracious service provided to the table next to ours where two young children were treated with full professionalism.
I had the crab cake - which was virtually all crab meat; the lobster tortolle (great recipe, but needed more flavorful lobster meat); and Brie-stuffed beignets, which were excellent.
Great ambience with tasteful decor and a pianist.
We will return!
I rated the food as good given that my dining partner enjoyed his meal quite a bit. Mine, however, was okay. The blackened chicken I received was far more charred than blackened, unfortunately. And the vegetables that were supposed to come with the entree were almost non-existent. So, I'd have to say that my first visit to Springs Orleans was disappointing.
Also, having made a reservation through Open Table over a month in advance, I was disappointed to find that our reserved table was literally right behind the hostess station. It was a special occasion and we had absolutely no privacy and the hostess stand was a distraction during the entire meal. Plenty of lovely tables in the restaurant but, sadly, ours was the worst of them.
Just decided to grab dinner last minute and we were able to get a table no problem. It was pretty busy and our server actually didn’t come to the table for a while. The manager took our order and brought us appetizers.
I always order the Brie beignet and it was amazing as usual. I tried the shrimp Po Boy this time and was not super impressed. The shrimp had a little too much breading and the remelaude sauce was skimpy. I think I will stick to the shrimp and grits next time.
Dessert (pecan tart)was great and I finished it off with a nice latte.
We were staying at the hotel, so decided to try this restaurant. Food was very mediocre. Cajun caesar salad unexceptional. I ordered grilled shrimp, not blackened shrimp, and they came out blackened with cajun spices and were unbelievably salty. My husband's salmon was less spicy and salty so we split that. Waiter was kind, and offered to make me something else, but it was late, we had traveled and were tired, and I did not want to wait for another entree. The waiter was kind enough to report this to the manager, who then discounted this entree, and offered a free dessert. We appreciated the waiter's honesty in reporting that we were not satisfied. However, we each had one drink, and he did not offer another, nor check on us during the rest of our meal. While he was kind, he needed more training. I would not return to this restaurant.
It tries to be New Orleans or Cajun style but basically fails on all attempts. Other than some decor, nothing hits minimal expectations. The food is OK, but NOT creole. Étouffée and all similar dishes are mass produced and they use flour to thicken! No slow cooking reductions here. Cajun Caesar is just romain lettuce with some chopped tomatoes. PLEASE! If you're from any southern state around LA, you will slap your waiter. If you're from CO, you won't know the difference and will probably think this is real creole food. (smile)
We are from out of state and we stayed at The Mining Exchange for 2 nights, beautiful. I looked up best restaurants and found this one. We went there on our last night in Colorado, and it was a perfect evening. The staff were amazing and very personable. The food was so good! If we ever come back, which we will, we will definitely be dining there again.
Overall not bad. Service was fine. The area where we sat was well lit and comfortable. I had a party of 5 and the server was all over it with each of us. Drinks were ok but somewhat inconsistent (first weak then strong - I had 3). The food came out reasonably fast but the shrimp and grits were mediocre at best. My freind's French onion soup looked good however the portions looked small. Drinks and dinner came to just over $240 with tip for 5 people (with drinks and wine). I would go back again if in town.
The waitress was very slow, the food was very disappointing especially for the price. The gator bites were tough. My husband and I both ordered a shrimp dish and my shrimp were so small I could barely see them and my husband's weren't much bigger. For the price I expected bigger shrimp. The dessert was the best part of the meal. We would not recommend this restaurant.
The food was exceptional. Our server explained what the food was when we had a question. The flavor of the food was so good. The voodoo rice was the best I've ever had. Our drinks were kept full and the server was very attentive. It was a good dining experience.
The food was delicious. The menu was misleading. I have no issues with the price we paid, as the buffet was delicious and Turkey, and Prime Rib were readily available. I will point out the menu given to us had a price point of $10, but in fine print it stated Monday through Saturday. Not a huge deal, but Sunday was not mentiined, nor was a price listed. Still appropriate pricing for what was offered.
We went for Sunday brunch using a Groupon, so we paid less than the regular price. At the price we paid, it was worth the money, but we wouldn't have paid full price for what we received. The service was lackluster. We sat for more than 5 minutes before being brought water even though the restaurant was less than half full and most people were there for the brunch buffet. I was thankful that it was a buffet so we weren't dependent on a waitperson. As for the buffet, the selection of food was really nice! Unfortunately, some of the dishes had clearly been reheated (such as the etouffee and gumbo) and they were still cold. I think if they had been warmed through, they would have been very good, however.
