We really enjoy the atmosphere of SpringHouse for special dinners. It is a very nice, yet relaxing, place to dine and we have always enjoyed our meal choices. Unfortunately, this visit did not live up to our expectations as compared to past experiences. We started off with the baked oysters, which were very good. For entrees, we chose the shrimp and grits and the Montgomery style fish. The shrimp dish was only ok and the fish was quite bland. Even our chocolate bread pudding was disappointing- it was too cakey and slightly dry. Although this was not one of our best experiences at SpringHouse, I am sure that we will return at some point in the future.
Springhouse was not quite up to par with its usual standard. It could be it was the first week reopening after New Years and a couple of freezing snowy days. None the less, the atmosphere was delightful. Our waitress wanted to rush us until i asked her twice to slow down and let us enjoy our drinks an hor d'oeurves. My tuna was surprisingly dry and had obviously been sitting out. My wife's chicken was delicious. The chocolate dessert was Delicious as well. Peppadews are really good and a fun appetizer. The meat in the Cavatelli was tough but flavor was good. Gold Dust specially drink was perfect.
Food was delicious. Service was on point. Ambience was great.
Been here many times for Sunday Brunch. Hopefully will make it one evening for dinner. Wife's birthday coming up. Will be looking forward to a memorable dining experience.
We had a great time for a long overdue date. As usual, the service and food were great. However, because they saw more of an uptick in business that weekend they had run out of several entrees. My only real complaint. This was over the New Year's weekend.
Warm welcome, lovely setting, beautiful design and decor, delicious food served on Earthborn tableware, and a pleasant low-key sophistication are some of the reasons we return to Spring House. It's no wonder we see it featured in Alabama Magazine and other media.
We enjoyed the Sunday Brunch. The food was outstanding, they cure (smoke) & cut their own very thick sliced bacon. I don't believe I've ever had any bacon that approaches the flavor and taste of their "home made" bacon. Rob knows his food, preparation, service and with the beautiful setting, serves up a wonderful dining experience. The focus on local and regional cuisine expertly prepared enhances the experience. I've never had a better breakfast (Sunday Brunch) in my life and I have enjoyed excellent southern food for 70 years.
Beautiful Sunday brunch with table on balcony. Skyler was excellent as a sever with quality information on menu items.
Sunday brunch menu is very reasonable and nice selection for cocktails if desired.
Two thumbs up
Outstanding cuisine with very friendly attentive service in an upscale rustic setting. Just wish they would have a soup on the dinner menu.
Wonderful restaurant. Great chef, great food and great service.
We had an enjoyable meal at Spring House. We both had a shrimp remoulade appetizer with house-made crackers. Not your usual remoulade; but almost a dip consistency. Duck with apples and rutabagas was my entree. The duck was tender and flavorful. My husband had tripletail fish with potatoes and mushrooms. It was cooked perfectly. He had a slice of apple caramel cheesecake for dessert. The cheesecake must have been good because there were no leftovers. Our server was courteous and knowledgeable. The other waitstaff was very attentive. This is a beautiful restaurant in a gorgeous setting. We will be back!
We had brunch on Sunday following the Auburn victory over Alabama. Everyone was extremely friendly and the food was awesome. The Scamp fish was excellent and the Eggs Benedict was just cooked to perfection. This was our first visit and we'll be back next time we're in the area.
Wonderful find! Amazing experience and food that is certainly worth the drive!
Late brunch with our sons. Food quality, preparation and presentation is exceptional. Portions are on the small side designed to be savored. Dessert selection left a lot to be desired. Service was non intrusive and adequate. Atmosphere and restaurant is warm and gracious. A real gem in the middle of rolling hills and a true asset to the Lake Martin community.
We took our son (Auburn student) and some friends here for Sunday Brunch. It was such a beautiful atmosphere and yummy Southern food. The guys ordered 2 food items as some of the portions are small but the prices allowed for that. The property is beautiful. We didn't get a chance to go to Catherine's Market but will definitely do that next time.
A lovely evening by the fireplace. The Springhouse has the best ambiance with its rustic but elegant charm. The food was simply scrumptious, the staff friendly, and an all-n-all wonderful evening. The Springhouse also easily accommodates food allergies or intolerances so don't hesitate to visit.
Another anniversary at this amazing place. Exceptional food and service presented in an unpretentious fashion. An absolute jewel in the most unlikely of locations. Don’t expect to return and have what you enjoyed last time. The chef is true to the locally sourced promise, so the menu never repeats. That means every meal is a truly new experience. A bonus is the very respectable wine list and a bartender who truly understands his craft. SpringHouse is out of the way, to say the least...but more than worth the drive.
Delicious again! Can't wait to go back. Great wine, great food and great after-dinner drinks. Get the Pimento Cheese to start.
Loved everything about Springhouse. Food, service, and atmosphere is exceptional. Beautiful setting in the rolling hills make for a romantic outing.
Great food and service
Food tasted fabulous and good presentation. Seated immediately.
Dinner at this upscale rustic culinary gem continues to be a pleasurable experience, with outstanding food, wine and cocktails, great ambiance, and friendly and attentive service.
The food and service was outstanding...we were there to celebrate a special birthday. I would highly recommend SpringHouse!
Our first time for dinner - did a Sunday brunch once before. Favorably impressed both times. One of the special places by Lake Martin.
great experience! Thank you! You made my daughters 21st bday a special one
Great food.....outstanding service! We have been several times and it never disappoints.
I had the chicken and it was NOT good. Chewy parts, cartlidge parts.... really unappetizing. The steak and triple tail were both very good.
Another great meal.... wonderful service, great menu and atmosphere!
Best food experience for miles and miles around.
Thanks to everyone there for your hard work.
Just wasn’t a fan of their menu tonight at all. Left hungry:-( sorry . Also service wasn’t really up to par tonight. I guess I only paid for 1 glass of ice tea... no refills. You would think since the Summer crowd has basically gone, they would go above and beyond for the guest /locals to keep us coming back during the Winter Season.
enjoyed the night, dinner was wonderful but way overpriced.
Dinner and apps were decent. The chocolate cake was delicious. The service was impeccable.
Outstanding creative menu
Had dinner at Springhouse with out of town family who were visiting. Weather was very cooperative so we sat outside. Great setting with awesome sunset. Our waitress was outgoing and friendly. Service was very good. There aren't many similar dining options in this area, but even if there were, I would still choose Springhouse for their food, service and awesome location.
Fabulous. No better place on Lake Martin
Springhouse was mostly a very enjoyable experience. Service was excellent; restaurant is just gorgeous; location is rather out-of-the-way, but situated beautifully on rolling hills and meadows. Most of the food was good, but my husband and I had the NY strip steak, and both were tough and overcooked. If we return for a second visit, we would definitely order a different entre .
Wonderful brunch experience. Good wine selection. Good service. Delicious food. This is a great place for a special dinner or brunch.
We had another wonderful experience at Springhouse. Our family and friends from out of town loved the meal and service. Great brunch get together.
Service was very slow. Everyone's entrée arrived at different times.
Good wine list.
We absolutely love Springhouse! We have dined here multiple times and I can honestly say IN MY Opinion the best menu options are at the Sunday brunch. We have yet to eat at the family style dinner they have once a month, but we are planning to!
This was our first experience at this restaurant. It was freezing cold and had a draft blowing from somewhere. So hard that the candle on our table wouldn't stay lit. The restaurant smells of the wood fire stove so we both left smelling like we had been camping. The server was excellent. Everything on point there. The steak tar tar was an odd cake with some type of sauce. The texture was stringy. Cheese plate was on point. The fish entrees were disappointing, flavorless. The deserts were excellent.
