Interesting food, but no tit bits whilst waiting.service not convincingexcept lively sommelier
Annoyed that unexpected donation added to bill BEFORE Vat added to total....WHY?
Bill stated vat was on this total , thus including donation
Manager denied this several times, yet total sum showed that vat was added to donation
Why did he lie, or was he out of touch?
I suggest customers are given option of rounding up the bill as a donation....likely to provide more cash to good fund than £1 donation....+ vat ?
Front desk staff took coats but forgot to hand my hat back....bit dozy of them so separate trip to reclaim next day.
Both problems severely detracted from very expensive food.
Why encourage awful habit of food selfies; ban mobiles in a supposedly top class restaurants, as good clubs do.
We did the Scratch menu and enjoyed every course. It's a great idea to use leftovers to create a menu and we weren't disappointed. It's also a good menu to do pre-theatre as it's only available 5.30-6.30pm. This restaurant is beautiful - we loved the decor and the fact that you can't hear the busy London streets outside! The only downside was it was very cold!
Great ambiance and service, rich food - would recommend!
A special experience from the moment you enter. The room is beautiful and has a lovely calmness about it. You can actually have a conversation and hear your companion. the staff are friendly and professional .... attentive from a distance... in a good way. The courses are spaced out... not rushed. The food is delicious, ingredients fresh, and well presented. . We had a refreshing spiced honey gin cocktail.
Our lunch was a real treat... felt special.... and reminded us what a true delight dinning out can be.
We have been fans of Spring for several years and always enjoy our evenings there.
Beautiful restaurant. Just breath taking. First time there. Tricky to find if entering from where the somerset house courtyard is. My trout tarter starter was just delicious but the main course of brill was way too oily so I hardly ate it. I was surprised that the waiter did not ask why when he came to clear the dishes. I did not want to make a complaint as I was with company but it would have been clear to anyone serving the dish that it was going to inedible unless you are used to knocking back 300ml of olive oil in one sitting.
I would still go back but would check with the staff before ordering about the amount of oil drizzled over dishes.
Lovely restaurant. Have been twice now and idea of leftover from night before is good and ingredients great but the last main course had minuscule amounts of fish and lots of bread in sauce. Slightly disappointing
Another excellent meal at Spring. The dining room is delightful and there is plenty of space between the tables. The menu is small but contains a good selection which is cooked to perfection...especially the pasta!
Scratch menu is a good price service charge is automatically added to the bill at 12.5% ambience and service every good
We had a delicious meal, served by friendly, knowledgeable staff in beautiful surroundings. We loved it and we will be back again soon.
Our absolute favourite place to eat in London. Superb in all respects. We’ve lost count of the number of times we’ve dined here. Always have a further booking to look forward to!
Très belle expérience, à renouveler et à recommander
I went with 3 other friends. The design of the restaurant is minimal and beautiful. The atmosphere is relaxing and cozy. Our table was close to the window and we were sitting on a nice sofa. The food is absolutely perfect, the bread was to die for. I will definitely come back.
I would like to find more vegan options.
Spring didn't disappoint. It's a lovely space with wonderful food and very attentive and happy staff.
My pregnant wife and I traveled from California to London anticipating what we hoped would be a tremendous dining experience at Spring. It was not. We were actually warned by friends to book dinner reservations somewhere else, as they had a very bad experience at Spring themselves. We should have taken that advice.
The most inexcusable part of our evening was how we were treated by one of the male servers for our table. He was incredibly disrespectful and dismissive. He must really despise pregnant women. He treated us like dirt. He treated us like we weren’t worth his time or that we didn’t deserve to be there. He talked back to us and gave us attitude the entire evening. We spent nearly 500 pounds on dinner and you would think you’d be treated not only fairly but with exceptional service. Neither happened.
The place itself is beautiful but the second most disappointing part of our evening was the food. It was so incredibly unexceptional. SO disappointing. The salad was so bland and flavorless. The pasta was good but also so boring and forgettable and so poorly presented. Every server was so rushed and the food came out almost falling off the plate/bowl. The steak was the most disappointing. So poorly cooked. It was the equivalent of a good meal on an airplane.
Please do not make the mistakes we made by spending SO much money for an evening of disrespect, horrible superior and arrogant attitudes and unexceptional food. We were so disappointed and let down.
What an utter disappointment and failure. Our evening was the worst service I have ever received in a restaurant. We spent the entire evening having to ask for services every table around us was receiving from the champagne to ordering drinks, to bread service to even having plates cleared. Each course took over 20 minutes to reach us as we saw tables who sat after us get served. Finally by 1130p when we were meant to be walking to the terrace - and were one of 3 tables left in the entire room - did I have to go to the front desk to just ask to be able to pay so we could make it to the fireworks. We had still not received our dessert course nor coffees (which order had been taken during the cheese course at 1100p!). Just to receive the bill took another 15 minutes and then we had to chase someone else down to bring us the card reader. When my husband confronted the manager, who we could see the entire evening expediting and clearly aware of our situation by the end of our night, when I got up to ask to leave - he offered no resolution.
This was perhaps the most lovely dinner of my life. The scrumptious food, elegant yet warm setting, impeccable and friendly service, the whole evening was simply delightful. We went as a family with our two teenage daughters for New Year’s Eve.
Went there for NYE dinner, quite possibly the most overpriced meal I have ever had.
The steak was phenomenal, but the rest of the menu was dull and forgettable. Gluten-free menu was lumped in with vegan, although full credit to the staff for being flexible where they could.
Lovely venue, good service but abysmal value for money. No beer on the menu either, playing into to the upper-class vibes.
The food and wine were delicious! The waitstaff was warm yet professional. We will go back!
A lovely setting in Somerset house and very worthy of being considered one of the best in London. Fabulous food and generous dishes great wine list and service what more could you want ?. I’ve paid a lot more for food of this quality so I think value for money as well
Great service and food
Beautiful room, lovely people, and delicious, inventive food.
The most beautiful restaurant in London, with food to match.
Great value meal in wonderful setting and attentive and appropriate staff attention
Good food and friendly staff in a very central and interesting environment. Expensive and 15% service charge is excessive. Otherwise very good.
A very beautiful space and helpful staff, but we made the mistake of trying out the scratch menu, which is ostensibly a good idea environmentally etc and seemed ideal as a pre-concert lightish meal. Unfortunately, it was pretty clear that the chef's heart wasn't in it - it was all stuff I could have made at home myself easily enough with fridge leftovers - and I suppose that makes sense, given the number of presumably wealthy people happily ordering from the expensive main menu eve at the early hour we were there, but the experience felt cursory, and of course you choose your (excellent) wine from a list that matches main-menu prices. So no, I won't be doing that again.
Delicious scratch menu, a joy not having to make any decisions.
Impressive setting, nice ambiance. Staff was friendly but not really attentive. Food well prepared and nicely presented (except for the langoustine starter, which were just 5 very small grilled langoustines on a plate without anything else, at £25!), but small portions. We ordered a nice bottle of wine, which came already opened to the table (rather unusual).
One of the best meals I've had in a long time. Quality from start to end. Service was impeccable. Attentive, not too much or too forceful.
A superb dining experience.
A beautiful room with attention to detail in the food and presentation. Lunch prix fix a great way to experience the quality of the menu. Don’t skip dessert, the merengue was outstanding!
Excellent food fantastic interior design great service loved it!!!
Tables are nicely spaced and there is an air of calmness that is welcome and different to a lot of restaurants in London.
I loved the simplicity and grandeur of this space.. the porcelain ceramic installation, exquisite lighting, the branches of magnolia to the starched white tablecloths.
The sustainable scratch menu was a nice touch, the food was presented timely, beautifully and was delicious. You aren’t rushed, a lovely room to meet up, chat and enjoy a wonderful meal!
The lemon dessert was very bitter, the rest of the meal was delicisous
Service was poor and food not great, when requests were made it was not followed up
I ordered the set lunch menu. The parsnip soup was fantastic. The mains and ending were just so so.
This was our second visit to Spring so the first visit can't have been too bad - but it was in the summer and you could actually read the menu without difficulty. This time the lighting was so bad someone at a nearby table was using the torch on their phone to read it.
Too noisy - we could hardly hear ourselves speak.
For the prices they charge I would expect food that excited but it was just dull. Starter dominated by the overwhelming taste of celery tops.
Main course - trout fillet- had little taste and only just cooked.
Dessert the only good part - but difficult to go wrong with the flavours of chocolate and orange.
Hugely enjoyable. Much like the wholesome principles of the kitchen and the low waste philosophy.
Fabulous winterval lunch with colleagues, and really uplifting spring-inducing interiors when it was very murky and rainy outside
Never disappoints. Food, Service and Ambience of the highest quality, which makes it all value for money on any special occasion or business lunch.
