Lovely dinner to celebrate an anniversary

Very unfortunate meal this past weekend. All have been outstanding in the past and patio dining is delightful, but things started out badly when we were informed that no liquor was being served due to a bar renovation. One couple likes their specific cocktails, so they left for a few minutes to run home and fix their own as they live nearby! The June heat had my mouth watering for the special blueberry mojito listed on the website, but no specialty cocktails of any kind for the next two weeks as well. We considered leaving but decided to stay put as the food sounded great. We laughed that we could set up a card table and serve cocktails easily all night...why could they not do the same? Bread service was excellent and soup very good. Two salmon salads were delicious and perfectly cooked although the hunt for the black-eyed peas turned up very few. My husband’s main dish salad had the most overcooked breaded oysters we have ever tasted. They were hard as a rock and one went flying off the plate onto the ground when he tried to spear it. We all sampled and agreed they were inedible. A polite mention of the problem brought no compensation. Our waiter was as a very nice young man and we felt badly for him, but management should do better with these issues. Not sure we will be back anytime soon.

Highly recommend this beautiful gem! My family includes a 5 year old had a great time. Our server Leslie, was extremely patient, knowledgeable and made great recommendations. I know the bar is going under renovations and are looking forward to trying more of their specialty drinks. In the mean time we cannot wait to making another visit very soon.

Amazing service!!! We sat outside on their lovely patio with my dog, and they were so accommodating and sweet. We loved our waitress, can't remember her name! We went on mondays which had half off handcrafted cocktails!! The bread service was amazing.. southern oysters were soooo bomb & they gave a really good portion! Hanger steak salad was cooked perfectly & dressing was delicious. Definitely will be going back!

We have been to the Spring House Restaurant several times and have always enjoyed it. The bar area is actually our favorite. It is a small, quaint area with lots of personality. The bartender is always very social and engaging. Though I mentioned on Open Table that our dinner was for a birthday “special occasion,” no mention was made about our celebration. I could have said something to the waitress, but I was curious if mentioning it on Open Table made a difference. Not sure if the restaurants always get that part of the Open Table comment section. It is best to mention it yourself if it is important to you.

Wonderful food and wonderful service. This was our first visit to Spring House; went for our 6 year anniversary and it was also our first night out after the birth of our child. Our waitress was absolutely fantastic, the food was on point, and the wine was wonderful. I look forward to my next visit. It can't come soon enough!

Wonderful meal! Loved the breads, appetizers and entrees. Interesting fusion of southern, Cajun and Asian ingredients. Outstanding service! My only suggestion is to be have more comfortable chairs at the tables.

I was really looking forward to a unique experience here with an unusual and historic atmosphere. Unfortunately, the food did not hit the mark for me or my dinner companion. I ordered the mushroom dish (vegetarian) which was just ok, the flavor could have been much better and the dish was lukewarm. I do give them credit for offering a different vegetarian option. My "date" ordered the special- fried softshell crab. He didn't like it and ended up leaving over half. The bread plate appetizer and goat cheese compliment was very nice-best part of the dinner. We did not complain so there was no opportunity for the server to do anything. The service was good, our server was friendly and when told I am vegetarian she made sure to point out everything that had either meat or made with meat products. The atmosphere is really nice, the weather for sitting outside was perfect. Not much for parking which is understandable. If the food was better I would happily return. In all fairness, we did go there because my "date" had been there twice before-his girlfriend strongly recommended it as the best place she's been. Hopefully our experience that night was a fluke. One more note, the early hostess was excellent!!!, the 2nd of that night seemed confused with little personality.

Very friendly hospitable service! We felt well- cared for. The food was just yummy - creative combinations and tasty sauces. We had a “supreme” Bloody Mary that was a drink and an appetizer in one - it came garnished with two grilled shrimp and a pimento cheese stuffed jalapeño!

Sitting inside, by the fireplace, by the constantly being opened patio doors made our dinner less than enjoyable. The open doors attracted lots of house flies to come in and really be a bother as we tried to eat. It was annoying. If we wanted to sit and eat outside we would have expected the bugs, not though since we were inside. Originally, I had specifically asked for a cozy table on the inside porch room. I had put my reservations in several weeks ago. It was our 31st wedding anniversary celebration. When we arrived we were told the porch room was booked.

The food though, as usual, was spectacular!

My wife and I have enjoyed dinner at Spring House on numerous occasions. This past Friday night was especially good. I had requested outside seating when making the reservation, but we changed our mind upon arrival (it was still muggy after a heavy afternoon shower). We were accommodated without hesitation with an excellent indoor table . Our server was superb. The meal and wine were outstanding.

It was a very nice evening. Everyone liked their food and the server was attentive but not pushy. He had the right mix of warmth and formality. Two had salmon, one the filet, one chicken waffle- everyone was happy. It was martini night so we all drank martinis. Was kind of surprised that i had to ask for olives... but all in all, a very nice evening.

Casual fine dining in a relaxed atmosphere. Our server did a great job, the food was fantastic and the drink list was adequate. My only disappointment was the desert options as nothing really jumped at me. Overall it was a great date with my wife to celebrate the twelfth anniversary of her 30th birthday.

The Menu, Food, and Wait Staff were excellent. We were disappointed with the Menu, when we found the two items we noted 'on line' weren't there (Steak/Oysters, Duck 3 Ways). But what we ordered was excellent, especially the Chicken & Waffles.

They have a problem that they are obviously well aware of, because the waitress actually offered us pillows. The chairs were the most uncomfortable we have ever experienced. The bar under the middle back hits right on the Coccyx. There were four of us, all different shapes and sizes, and we were all very uncomfortable.

We visited for our anniversary. The atmosphere was great, service was great, and the deluxe bread with assorted spreads was incredible. Our entrees were not very good...the filet was cooked medium, but tasted charred. The risotto and ravioli tasted bland, like it had been cooked in boiled water. We did not order dessert.

This was the nicest dinner out I've had in a very long time. First of all, the restaurant is located in an historic home that is quite beautiful, with a stone terrace and outdoor seating. The bar is great-looking, with nice art and a fire in the fireplace. The food was delicious and varied and priced well. And our server was excellent--attentive, gentlemanly, really very sweet. I would drive from Atlanta to Winston-Salem just to go to this restaurant again.

Celebrated family birthdays with a party of 10 early in the evening and the wait staff & kitchen took such wonderful care of us! We had special dietary requests, asked for spur-of-the-moment-minor modifications on entrees, switched wines/drink orders a few times throughout the meal and each and every request was handled with the upmost care and consideration. The new Spring menu is delicious and the wine list is always solid! Great nightly specials to add to their already varied menu. Kitchen took great care in preparing gluten free options , which were creative and far from the expected. Awesome birthday celebration! Thank you for the memories!

First we must call out Andrew our server-he gave us impeccable service in a relaxed manner.
The ambiance was good -old 1920’s house and nice yard area.
Now for the food: thank god we ordered the bread service as all the breads were delicious -the spreads that accompanied the bread service were not that good with only the goats cheese leek spread being enjoyed.
The fried green tomato appetizer was completely overwhelmed by the overly tangy bbq sauce which made the tomatoes complete mush.
The shrimp, crab and corn beignet appetizer had a deceivingly crisp exterior only to reveal a Luke warm liquidy interior along with the tasteless pepto-bismol pink sauce.
The pork terrine was wrapped in sandwich meat and the inside ....I can’t even put words to it.
The sweetbreads were overpowered by an ocean of mustard and weren’t quite cooked properly.....
We were very excited to eat here as the menu looked delicious....unfortunately the food was not good at all.

We thoroughly enjoyed Spring House Restaurant! Our waitress, Noel, was friendly, helpful, and responsive and the food was delicious. We tried the four-course meal and enjoyed the unique dishes and top-notch quality. Parking was easy to access across the street, and the ambiance was quiet and cozy with great background music at perfect volume. The house is beautifully decorated with classy and elegant touches throughout. We plan to try Spring House again soon.
