This was the nicest dinner out I've had in a very long time. First of all, the restaurant is located in an historic home that is quite beautiful, with a stone terrace and outdoor seating. The bar is great-looking, with nice art and a fire in the fireplace. The food was delicious and varied and priced well. And our server was excellent--attentive, gentlemanly, really very sweet. I would drive from Atlanta to Winston-Salem just to go to this restaurant again.

Celebrated family birthdays with a party of 10 early in the evening and the wait staff & kitchen took such wonderful care of us! We had special dietary requests, asked for spur-of-the-moment-minor modifications on entrees, switched wines/drink orders a few times throughout the meal and each and every request was handled with the upmost care and consideration. The new Spring menu is delicious and the wine list is always solid! Great nightly specials to add to their already varied menu. Kitchen took great care in preparing gluten free options , which were creative and far from the expected. Awesome birthday celebration! Thank you for the memories!

First we must call out Andrew our server-he gave us impeccable service in a relaxed manner.
The ambiance was good -old 1920’s house and nice yard area.
Now for the food: thank god we ordered the bread service as all the breads were delicious -the spreads that accompanied the bread service were not that good with only the goats cheese leek spread being enjoyed.
The fried green tomato appetizer was completely overwhelmed by the overly tangy bbq sauce which made the tomatoes complete mush.
The shrimp, crab and corn beignet appetizer had a deceivingly crisp exterior only to reveal a Luke warm liquidy interior along with the tasteless pepto-bismol pink sauce.
The pork terrine was wrapped in sandwich meat and the inside ....I can’t even put words to it.
The sweetbreads were overpowered by an ocean of mustard and weren’t quite cooked properly.....
We were very excited to eat here as the menu looked delicious....unfortunately the food was not good at all.

We thoroughly enjoyed Spring House Restaurant! Our waitress, Noel, was friendly, helpful, and responsive and the food was delicious. We tried the four-course meal and enjoyed the unique dishes and top-notch quality. Parking was easy to access across the street, and the ambiance was quiet and cozy with great background music at perfect volume. The house is beautifully decorated with classy and elegant touches throughout. We plan to try Spring House again soon.

I wish there were more fish and vegetarian choices, and maybe a few lower fat things, but the food was delicious and the service and setting as great as always.

This is a wonderful restaurant! The food was very creative and all was prepared well. The basket of breads were amazing and the bacon wrapped pork tenderloin was the best that we have ever had. Will be back!

We were in Winston-Salem for one night. Great find! I had the pork tenderloins wrapped in bacon- very good. There were four of us in our group, found restaurant on Pinterest and we were not disappointed! Charming and very good!

Entree choices are excellent. The BBQ quesideilla is truly a great signature item. Consider this restaurant one of the best if not the best restaurant in Winston Salem

We went for my girlfriend's birthday. Given that it was a special occasion, we ordered two appetizers, a bottle of wine, steak filet with fried oysters, and salmon with "smashed" potatoes with lobster bits. Everything was excellent!

Good food, excellent cocktails, and attentive but not cloying service. It was quiet when we went, but the dining space is pretty small so I could see how it might get loud with more patrons.

Kitchen was slow and service inattentive. If one of these is missing other areas of the experience can make up for the misstep. Our servers lack of attention made the wait from the kitchen even worse.

The restaurant was great!! Our first time dining here. A table of 6-8 boys were seated next to us and were extremely loud. The waiter was embarassed and apologized profusely. Wanted to move us to another area that would be quiter but no other seats available. We will return and waiter guaranteed a more reserved seating next time. The noise level of the teenagers was the only reason of a lower rating of the experience.

I love Spring House. Every time someone is in town who doesn't know Winston, I take them there. The food is creative and delicious; the service is great; the physical space is comfortable and beautiful, in an old, renovated house right across from the cool new library. It's the best restaurant in Winston Salem, bar none. And the cocktails are amazing. Great bar and great bartender.

The waiter was appropriate for the type of restaurant and its prices. The Winter 2018 salmon was highly priced at $32 considering you get it with potatoes and asparagus and a few tomatoes. What happened to the $24 salmon that is in the OpenTable-listed menu? The duck was appropriately cooked and priced well, and the bacon/pumpkin/cabbage ragout was plentiful but salty.
I would recommend more options for other fish and green leafy or other types of vegetables on the menu instead of the more calorie-laden sides that contain fried items, pork or shellfish. For example, lamb loin atop jumbo shrimp?

First of Alex was a great server and made recommendations that were perfect.
The food was exceptional. Catfish with collards was the special and spices. This should be a regular item as it was great. A favorite restaurant. Thanks!

The place is a absolutely gorgeous but expensive. The service is amazing plus if you like throwbacks and good vibes, this place is it. The food was decent, if anything the Filet Mignon is we’re it is at! Very nice place to take a girl to impress her.

This was our first time visiting Spring House.
As a world traveler and connoisseur of fine dining, I will have to say that this was one of best dining experiences my wife and I have experienced in the US, including the quality of food, atmosphere, attention to detail and desire from the entire staff to make it a wonderful event.

The food my wife and I was incredible. I had pork tenderloin wrapped in bacon that was cooked to perfection and as tender and moist like nothing I have ever had before. Our waitress, Kiley was a pleasant person that was not only informative about the food but also gave us great background about the history of the building. What a fantastic experience. We cannot wait to go back.

We were excited to go to Spring House, since I have heard good things. I left disappointed that we had wasted our kid-free evening at this restaurant. Took forever for waitress to come around and ask us about drinks. Appetizers then came out before we even got our cocktails. They brought dinner out with our appetizers and plates still sitting there and then expected (I guess) for us to hold them while they juggled food around. I asked for my filet medium well, it was rare. I only ate around the edges. Also, I ordered a glass of red wine while eating appetizers to have in time for my entrée. She was walking to bring it to me when I was almost completely through with my entrée. My husband stopped her on the way to tell her not to bother. And then, we killed a bug on the table before we left that was crawling around. Overall, our waitress was nice, but the service levels were not great. She said the bar was backed up......get more help then! I don't expect to go to a restaurant like this on a Friday night and experience these type of issues. Not impressed, will not go back.

I was a little disappointed. The menu was too limited. We had brought cupcakes to eat after our meal but was told there was a $25 cost for doing so. I took them back out to our car.
The food was good but the portions were poor for what you paid. I had lamb which had a hair in it. That was a major turnoff. It was my wife’s birthday and though we were given a piece of cake to share we had brought the cupcakes to eat and wasn’t able to.
I hope this makes some changes to attract others like myself to want to come. It wasn’t what I expected and I don’t think I will be back.

This was my first visit to The Spring House. It was very nice and laid back. We arrived early for our reservation so we had drinks in the library bar which were good but a bit pricey. After we were seated in a very quiet area we had a glass of wine and ordered the bread appetizer which was exceptional. The menu is seasonal and I ordered the pork tenderloin wrapped in bacon. It came with broccolini andca sweet potato. My date ordered the portabella mushroom caps. Both dishes were really complex with smooth flavors. We capped off our dinner with bread pudding for dessert. We will definitely come back again.

Beautiful place with excellent service, but neither my wife or I enjoyed our food. My wife ordered the fillet minion and the cut looked unusual, the cheese based topping was a little over the top. I ordered a spicy bison meatloaf and while I expected spicy, the spice was over powering, all you could taste was red pepper . Side dishes and appetizers were ok. Food I guess was just not our taste.

The Spring House is a great restaurant inside a charming 1920's house. The atmosphere is cozy and very comfortable. Menu selections are varied and our table sampled about all of the offered menu dishes, from buffalo to duck. Each entree was presented well and the flavors were unique and savory. The duck soup was a pleasant surprise and I would highly recommend it. Prices are a little on the high side, but the food and experience was well worth it. We stayed at the Cardinal and found the walking distance to the Spring House presented a nice stroll. Definitely will come back!
