Spring House Restaurant, Kitchen & Bar
Love love love Spring House
Reservation for 8 not seated until 0830. Food was tepid when it arrived at the table. Sanitation was only 90%. Crab soup, what a joke. It was terrible. Lamb was not medium as stated it was black and blue. All this for a hundred bucks? Nope, not for me!
Since moving from WS to Mocksville, we have had terrible luck with fine dining in our area. After searching Statesville, Salisbury & Lewisville/Clemmons it was a triumphant return to the Spring House that finally saved us. As usual, it met & exceeded our expectations. We asked our very attentive server for suggestions for the cocktails & appetizers and both were on point! His suggestion of the House pepper jelly, peach nectar(?) with fresh, tender oysters appetizer was divine! He then paired our cocktails, that also utilized House pepper jelly, with the very same dish. Well done, I say!
My husband had the House special NY strip steak & I had the Chef special Lobster ravioli with fresh shrimp & pan seared scallops. After sharing we had plenty for another fine dining dinner the next day. Hats off to the Chef & employees of Spring House. Hope we can dine again soon. K&M Transou
Food was excellent but service a bit slow when restaurant wasn’t crowded. Very nice ambiance
The food is wonderful and their outside area is a treat...this is an exceptional dining experience on each and every visit
Spring House is my families favorite restaurant for fine dining. The bread service is amazing, especially with the goat cheese and leek spread. The entrees are well thought out and beautifully prepared. The servers are attentive without being intrusive. You won’t be disappointed.
My husband and I like to dress up and have quiet evening out dining from time to time and are always looking for an upscale place with good food. While the Spring House had a beautifully appointed dining room with an interesting and storied history, we were disappointed with our experience. The food was okay but not outstanding, even given that we had expected the price point on dinner to be higher (which I indicated on my higher value score). But what most affected the evening for us was that we were seated near a table of loud, very casually dressed people having, at times, a vulgar conversation who might have been better suited to a table on the patio. I know restrictive dress codes are not popular but if you want to cater to a clientele seeking a fine dining experience - dress does matter. Seemingly this is not a priority of the Spring house management. On the plus side the staff was outstanding and seemed to be very well trained; service was attentive but not hovering.
The ambiance in the beautiful house was wonderful and the food was truly outstanding.
The whole evening was a disaster. They had NOTHING to offer my mother who is allergic to garlic except brown rice and vegetables. The food when it did arrive an HOUR after it was ordered was poorly presented and the lamb was cold, as if it was still dethawing.
DO NOT DINE AT THIS RESTURANT!!
Salmon was over cooked and the shrimp and watermelon salad with spinach was no spinach ((mixed greens and predominantly arugula). Won’t be back
Great food, casual, fine service
Beautiful setting, our server was knowledgeable, professional and very gracious. Don’t skip the bread sampler—it’s worth several trips to the gym. Entrees were creative and made wonderful use of local ingredients. Desserts were delicious and meant to be shared. Wine list is small and well curated; we enjoyed a lovely Pinot noir that wasn’t on the list but was recommended by the bartender. We’re looking forward to going back and sitting at the bar.
One of our favorites in WS!
Great food with surprisingly large quantity of food. Great responsive service. Excellent!
The creativity and diversity of the menu and the high quality of the food made the dining experience at the Spring House outstanding.
The food and the service was outstanding. We plan to go back soon.
My wife and I were there for our wedding anniversary. Great service and incredible food as always! I never fail to be impressed by this place!
Kylie was our server and she was excellent! It was the perfect experience for a bridesmaid dinner.
While the ambience is delightful, the food was mediocre. Lukewarm she-crab soup. Lobster ravioli with no hint of lobster. But the worst was the vegetable “paella.” I honestly couldn’t eat it. By the service was fine and the wine delicious. However, I won’t be going back there.
This place was awesome! Little loud with the tasting going on behind where we sat but we didnt mind, really enjoyed looking smelling all of their courses. Our dinner was amazing! We will 100% be back.
Food was very good as usual. Loved getting to try the new summer menu
Noise level was unusually loud but the porch where we were seated was full
Service was mediocre, not up to what we usually experience
Gareth and I appreciated the complimentary champagne and desserts! We look forward to having our wedding here in December!
XOXO Jade & Gareth
This was a get together with friends. We are from out of town, and wanted to host them. What a wonderful experience at the Spring House! The lovely staff helped us make the evening special-like we were in our own home (but better!). They worked with us to have a couple of bottles of wine and a selection of breads with delicious honey butter ready and waiting when we all got to our table. Cameron, our waiter, was fabulous. He was attentive but not overbearing; allowing us all to chat up a storm while having some wine and bread, before ordering our meal.
The restaurant had just come out with their newest menu that day, and we had some fabulous entrees! We highly recommend the salmon, chicken and shrimp, filet, and the trout. All entrees were cooked to perfection.
We were too stuffed to try any of the desserts, but they all look wonderful. Will have to come back for those!
We are in WS quite often, so plan to make another trip here very soon!
We have always enjoyed Spring House when we've dined there and have no complaints. Even though there was a table for ten in our room and the noise level made it impossible to converse and that I have promised myself I will always call ahead to ask if they could seat us anywhere except wherever they have a group, I never do. I was, however, impressed that our server was astute enough to notice our discomfort with the noise (although we didn't say anything) and made sure that we were served a pro bono dessert. Tables for groups at upscale restaurants is not a phenomenon unknown in the Winston-Salem restaurant scene and it is unfortunate because some of the noise level is encouraged so that the restaurant seems, as you put it, "energetic." Frankly, I don't need that much energy. I like to be able to talk to my dining companions.
Planning our wedding reception followed by another unparalleled dining experience. Can’t say enough positive things about this restaurant and the people there who infuse so much richness into their food, drinks and life!
The Spring House location was in a very beautiful restored home with gorgeous landscaping and outdoor space. The inside is also amazing. Our server was very helpful and was attentive to our every need. The food tasted great. My husband had the mahi mahi . He said that it was delicious. I had the roast beef sandwich with au jus and kettle chips. We enjoyed visiting The Spring House for his Father's Day dinner.
Everything was wonderful, but I do wish they had some lower priced red wines. I would go more often if they did.
I was excited to try this place- it had great reviews and looked beautifully inviting. Our meal started off great with the bread sampler- all delicious. When our meals were brought my mouth really started watering- everything looked fantastic. Looks are deceiving. Out of five people at our table no one enjoyed their meal- we had prime rib dip, OBLT salad, chicken and waffles, asparagus soup, ribeye, and pork belly w/ scallops. My scallops were sandy! After that grit my appetite was ruined. No one that I ate with would go back.
Great service and ambience for our anniversary! Apps to dessert were excellent!
This was our first experience, and we had read reviews that the chairs were uncomfortable, and we should have listened! However, the food was great for the most part. We thoroughly enjoyed our duck appetizer (unique and very flavorful), and the oyster BLT salad was fabulous, with perfectly fried, juicy oysters. My husband was very happy with his pork chop dinner, but my mahi-mahi was disappointing -- very chewy and dry -- definitely overcooked. Given how wonderfully cooked everything else was, I chalked that up to an anomaly. However, the chairs were so uncomfortable that it ruined the meal. You have to either sit straight up on a tufted cushion with no back support, or lean back in the seat so far that it feels like you are taking of in an airplane and can't reach the food. We were stiff walking out of there and our backs still hurt the next day. Because of this, we won't be returning, but if we find they ever have new seating, we would definitely reconsider!
How unfortunate that you did not take the opportunity to share your thoughts with us while dining here at Spring House. As always, it is incredibly helpful if guests share their feedback while they are here dining with us rather than comment afterward when it is far to late for us to assist you. We are pleased to offer six distinct dining rooms in our historic home....many with their own chair style!! We look forward to finding you just the right chair on your next visit to Spring House.
Wonderful as always. You just cannot beat the $20.12 Wednesday 3-course feature anywhere in town. The best food at a great value!
No better service anywhere and the ambiance is outstanding. As a cook, and former professional chef, I find the current 'decorator' food/splashes of this or that sauce, with way too much 'southern fusion'..pimento cheese on/in everything, overdone.
I expect more from a quality restaurant, with the ability to charge whatever the market will bear. Sampled two desserts; one lemony w/whipped cream, and one chocolate lava...both 'way too much white sugar'...healthier sugar, less of it, will vastly improve desserts.
Great and affordably priced Savignon Blanc from South Africa.
We haven’t been to Spring House in a couple of years. We absolutely love the ambiance but were underwhelmed by the food. We ordered fried oysters as appetizer and enjoyed the dish. I ordered the lamb and my wife ordered the filet. Both dishes came out lukewarm and did not meet our expectations. Hoping it was an off night. We love the atmosphere but left wanting more from our entree.
incredible food and service
Beautiful historic home with delicious food and friendly staff. We even bought 2 cookbooks to take home. Chef Tim and his staff created the perfect dining experience!
Delicious good with lovely atmosphere and excellent service. Thank you!
We had dinner there for a birthday. We were so happy and very full. The menu was great and service was outstanding. We’ll be back for our next celebration.
The Spring House was a nice restaurant overall. Nice atmosphere and pretty good service. The food was just ok. My fish seemed over cooked and dried out.
The bread basket was very good. I think I would try it again.
We choose Spring House for our Anniversary dinner out. W
