Food was amazing, service was wonderful and they had all the proper covid precautions in place. Outdoor seating was beautiful.
Perfectly lovely evening - delicious food, beautiful (safe) setting, and great service!
great ambiance. Service was excellent. The food was really good. I had the Bison meatloaf, but wish I would have got the seafood pasta.
Food was wonderful, but the server kept wearing his mask below his nose. So that was a bit off putting. But overall great value from the wine to the food.
First time to Spring House since COVID-19 hit. Dinner on patio with pencil-in paper menus and Masked Waiter to reduce viral spread. Very good entrees included salmon rice bowl, filet w/shrimp tempura and black bean enchilada/chile poblano, as well as excellent lemon cake.
Always enjoy Spring House. They have handled the COVID crisis well. Dining outside was particularly nice. Service was excellent. Stephen was very attentive to the diners. Would highly recommend this restaurant.
My husband and I were on a date. He spent the first half trying to kill some bugs that had made it in from the patio. We had a nice time, but we weren’t impressed enough to want to return. For a lower price, we can get a similar or better experience at another restaurant.
We were there for our anniversary and had a wonderful time. Exceptional service and incredible food. Best place in town for a romantic date.
The bone in pork chop and the seafood pasta were amazing. Staff was very friendly/ accommodating (especially the host or manager, I’m guessing she was working both roles?). I’d definitely recommend.
Thank you to Steve, our server. It was nice and quiet, so we and our guests could enjoy quiet conversation without having to yell at each other! Service was efficient, timely and correctly understated, just what we appreciate in excellent food service. The food and wine were not too complex, but both tasty and well presented. It was a wonderful, relaxing evening.
Great food and service as always!
Somewhat of a different menu due to COVID. Still a delicious meal and wonderful service.
Made reservations for outdoor seating on a Friday evening. The outdoor area was very pleasant and set up for social distancing so we were very comfortable. The host staff was friendly and helpful. We had a very nice server Jack who was attentive and took great care of us. The portions were generous and the food quality and taste was excellent. The menu was limited due to the recent restrictions and difficulties placed on restaurants but we found the selection to be more than ample to choose from. We both had side salads with beets. For entrees I had the Bison Meat Loaf with potatoes and creamed spinach and my wife ordered the Shrimp Po' Boy sandwich with fries. We both split the gooey pie for dessert. This was our first experience here but we enjoyed it very much and will be back.
Five star all the way
Spring House is one of our favorites, and glad to see them re-open. They did a great job with spacing, menu was solid--food very good, as always!
Amazing meal and service! They are handling covid very well and are using paper menus and wipe down tables and chairs after each guest. The meal was cooked to perfection and they also gave complimentary champagne to celebrate our anniversary.
Food and service were excellent. Staff all wore face masks and social distanced well. Overall great experience.
Excellent food and service! Highly recommend!
From our hostess to our server (Stephen) the experience was incredible. We were celebrating our anniversary and this made it very special. Despite the limitations of Social distancing it was a truely fine dining experience
Spring House is always a favorite. Very peaceful and quiet. Able to have a conversation without shouting. Service is exemplary. Food is always good. Cocktails were excellent.
Wonderful food and superb service!
We are so happy for our favorite ‘special occasion’ restaurant to be back open. My heart breaks to know you guys were off line for 9 excruciating weeks. Our prayers to you and your loved ones during this pandemic. I pray for you to be prosperous, safe and healthy as we crawl out of these most uncertain of times.
Thank you for always being committed to excellence. We know we will always have exceptional food, service and experience at Spring House. Tonight was no exception!
So happy to be back at SH! Everything was wonderful
The wait staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. The food was great and cannot wait to return
Excellent food and service as usual. Highly recommend
One of the best restaurants in WS. Wonderful service and delicious food in a beautiful setting. Highly recommend!
The short review: five different entrees, five clean plates!
For my wife and daughter's birthdays, the five of us had great cocktails, a couple of delicious appetizers, and superb entrees! The service was terrific as well.
Great food and great atmosphere. We celebrated a birthday and couldn’t have had a better experience!
Our server could have been sharper on gluten-free options; he had to go back to the kitchen twice to seek advice. Also, ours appeared to be the only table in the restaurant without a lit candle. We arrived promptly at the time of our reservation but our table was not ready, even for a 6:30 seating when the restaurant was not full. The table adjacent to ours, seated about 30 minutes after we were, was offered several dinner specials that we were not. I asked our server about this and he said "they just came up."
I love the Spring House , the food is great and we have always had great service. We can’t wait for their courtyard to open
Great food and wonderful server. The bread service is amazing!
The piped in satellite "music" was horrid. Mixing pop, country, show tunes and garbage is unbelievable in this age of playlists and streaming. Silence would be far better.
Great service, ambiance, and food!
Enjoyed a wonderful birthday celebration. Food was excellent!
Both meals were overcooked and the server was very rude. Not what you would expect with a $125 bill for 2 people!! We don't like to complain at the restaurant, rather send a message to management to let them know of a disappointing dining experience.
We made a reservation for Ramen night on a Wednesday. I really wanted to like the food as Winston is hurting for all restaurant categories outside of "Southern" and "NC BBQ." We ordered the Scallion Pancake and 2 versions of Ramen from the menu.
I guess we were expecting more of a flaky, somewhat crispy, Chinese-style scallion pancake. This version was essentially a regular bisquick-type pancake with Shrimp and some dry pork chunks inside, then smothered with several sauces and topped with sweet potato chips. The black hoisin sauce and another mayo type sauce were very sweet and creamy. It was definitely a rich, uniquely-southern, type dish. Also there were no scallions which I thought was strange. The shrimp, sauce, and pancake did not pair well in my opinion. It sort of made us feel ill. We did not eat much.
The ramen was extremely disappointing. The broth on my ramen (chicken and pork mixed) was pretty tasteless and missed the mark. It also came out luke-warm. The noodles were extremely overcooked and melted into a soggy blob. The egg was very soft and liquid runny (think poached) which is not my preference. The pork in my ramen seemed to be NC Pulled BBQ soaked in sweet BBQ sauce. It also came with 4 small meatballs with a taste that reminded me of the ones in canned Spaghetti Os. My ramen was $17. I ate some but gave up. My fiancé ordered the $27 version. She ate some of the crabcake and didn't touch the rest.
The waiter noticed that my fiancé didn't touch her ramen and brought us out a free dessert. It was a gulten-free lava cake. We each took a bite and honestly didn't really like it either. The cake part was blah. I can't believe they missed the mark on this too.
One other disappointment was the cheap wooden disposable chop-sticks. I would expect this from a take-out place but not one of the "Fanciest" restaurants in Winston.
We spent close to $80 for an app, 2 bowls of ramen, 1 glass of wine, and tip. We would not repeat.
The atmosphere was awesome -low light and cool historic home. For the price of the food it just wasn't worth it. My chicken was dry and the side of rice tasted like it had ranch dressing poured over the top. The bread and spreads we had as an appetizer was good. I ordered and extra dirty martini and they told me they didn't have enough olive juice to make it extra dirty. The excuse was b/c they made so many martinis the night before; thought that was the job of a bartender -to stock the bar before the night begins (we had 7:30 pm reservations...plenty of time to send someone to the store). The service was O.K.; we waited a while before we initially saw the waiter. Was hoping they would have a special -no such luck. Also, if you are vegetarian or vegan, no options for you :-) Was hoping for a new favorite, but no dice.
This restaurant is beautiful! It is an old historic house, turned restaurant and it is STUNNING! I love that the menu is seasonal and fresh. We shared the bread plate and the lobster Mac and cheese! Which was to die for! I then had the seafood carbonara and a really delicious glass of red wine! I will definitely be returning!
Great food and drinks, service was a little slow but no major issue. Definitely plan to return.
We celebrated Valentine’s Day with family in town. We had an amazing time. The food was incredible and the service was impeccable.
