About Spoonbar - h2hotel
Spoonbar Chefs Patrick and Casey Van Voorhis serve a menu of clean and simple dishes honoring America’s diverse culinary influences. Their artfully-crafted, market-driven cuisine of fresh, bold flavors is built around seasonally-inspired local and sustainable ingredients. The same focus carries over to Spoonbar’s cocktails which use specially sourced organically-grown herbs, fruits and vegetables with an emphasis on locally and domestically produced spirits.
Freeform tables made from reclaimed acacia surround a long, communal table crafted from a split tree. Splashes of color—from the turquoise Eames chairs to the golden floral three dimensional wall art—brighten the open space like dappled sunshine filtering through summer leaves. On warm days and evenings the restaurant’s Cantina doors open up to sidewalk dining.

Spoonbar - h2hotel Ratings and Reviews
Thought we were going for Sunday pasta pre fixe. Turned out that had been put on hold until the new year. Three of us dining. We ordered three starters and all three pastas on the menu. EVERYTHING was delicious! Price was not more than we were expecting for pre fixe menu. Pastas were as good or better than San Francisco restaurants famous for their special pastas. Service was great. Want to give special notice to Young man named German. He was engaging and gave us excellent service.
Great dining experience again. Garden fresh greens/purples adeptly dressed. Uber fresh oysters need no adornment but chef’s idea of granite (champagne vinegarette this time) adds rather than detracts from o/w perfect dish by itself. Roasted potatoes are all about the potato and not the crunchy roasted exterior- initially I missed the crunch but soon found the beauty of the heirloom varietal potato itself. Handmade pasta needed nothing but fat and salt but got a nice tomato sauce too.
This visit was very hit or miss. We had been once before and had a great meal and great service.
We had one of our dearest friends visiting and I specifically asked for a nice table so we could enjoy ourselves and eat, drink and be merry. We arrived on time and were seated next to a family with a toddler. I thought this odd since I asked for a special nice table and the restaurant was not full. We were there adults having a nice dinner out and really did not want to hear a child wining. At least they were finishing up and left not too long into our meal. Our waiter was very nice but the service was extremely slow and my husband had to ask to have our dishes cleared twice. My chicken entree was also waaaay overcooked. Not what you expect from the location and pricing on the menu. I feel mixed about returning - especially since there are so many great places to eat in Healdsburg.
Spoonbar has gone through a progression of chefs over the years, but the current husband and wife duo, Patrick and Casey Van Voorhis, are the best of recent memory. Their Sunday pasta meal showcases their ability and care with freshly made pasta. Choosing a region of Italy as their theme, Casey prepares the pasta with a rich mixture of eggs, egg yolks, and high quality flour. She lets the pasta speak for itself with a restrained hand on the saucing. The starter and dessert were equally well crafted. This is the best of its kind in Sonoma County.
We are local dinners and have been to Spoonbar a number of times, sometimes disappointed in our meal/experience. Tonight we were very pleased! Food was great as was the service. We went for the Sunday Pasta menu but also shared two starters, oysters and crudo, both great. Will definitely go back!
A delicious dinner out with friends - we shared several starters (oysters, ahi tuna crudo, beet salad, watermelon salad), enjoyed some cocktails, and then had a nice bottle of wine with dinner, and also shared a couple desserts at the end. The service was extremely friendly and helpful - our group had a couple people with various eating restrictions, and all our needs were easily accommodated. When our original selected bottle of wine was unavailable, the sommelier recommended another similar bottle that would go with all of our meals. The restaurant itself is beautiful, and feels very spacious and open, and a very welcoming spot in Healdsburg. I will definitely be going back!
Sorry to say BC we really wanted to like this restaurant in Healdsberg. Great location, modern fun ambiance and menu looked healthy and creative, tho limited. Both my husband and I felt the food, enteees, salad (we had asparagus salad) were bland and lacked falovor. Very disappointing, they unfortunately need a new chef or chef needs to step up his/her game in a big way. The one item that was delicious was the oysters, bluepoint, fresh and delicious. So all I could recommend Sooonvar for would be going for oysters and cocktails.
This was our second time dining at SpoonBar. We were very pleased with our first experience so we brought guests with us the second time. Service was just ok. Food was not good. Everyone's food was either cold or just warm, not hot. Food was bland, no flavor. Food was taking much too long to get to our table. It seriously looked like the kitchen was having issues. Based on this last experience we will not be returning for quite some time. Sorry about that because we really like the ambiance, plate presentation and cocktails. Oh, the shining star of the evening was dessert; the donuts and the peach tart were delicious.
Limited menu, food is good not outstanding - portions are small. If you like to share dishes with another couple, those plates come in odd numbers so it it hard to split them up and they are reluctant to add 1 more to make it work out. Pleasant atmosphere, the service was good and the waiter was very attentive. No corkage for local wines which is a big plus.
This is the second time I've been there recently and was again disappointed. The ambiance is lovely, but there was only one rose' on the menu. The corn ravioli were mushy and sweet, the tuna tartare nothing special the nori crackers greasy-- The food used to be fabulous. Too bad. I should have had cocktails.
Food looked better than it tasted. Ahi tuna crudo first course was significantly under seasoned. Oysters were room temperature which was a little concerning. King salmon though was cooked nicely. Too much focus on presentation and need to pay more attention to flavor.
Mixed reviews difficult to understand as our dinner for four with a very near complete tour of the menu was stellar. Came back the following night for a late night snack of a few of the highlights including the ravioli and the nicely adorned freshly shucked oysters.
A big disappointment, each dish was artfully composed with little apparent thought to the ingredients or flavor combinations. Chicken was poached with little flavor and small amount of gravy beneath, plate included beets that were totally unconnected to the chicken. Lobster ravioli were overcooked and rubbery. Service was disorganized and our waiter seemed distracted during the service, forgetting requests.
I had gotten good reviews about Spoon Bar from friends, and they were right. Nice modern casual decor restaurant. Fresh, creative and delicious menu. Service was great. I would highly recommend Spoon Bar and we will be making it one of our regular Healdsburg restaurants.
Very solid choice in Healdsburg, awesome bar off to the side, many great spirit selections. You can tell the chef and cooks know what they are doing, food was spot on. Menu is just the right size, not too large or small, local, seasonal, healthy and decadent offerings, has something for everyone. Well done!
