Arrived a bit early so grouped at the bar with the servers Meghan and another gentleman. They were completely aware of their wine and liquor listing and wonderful servers. Once seated near the window facing the busy (Manhattan like) outdoor intersection we were able to enjoy the view but the restaurant is free of any street noise. Emily was our server and she was truly good to have as she understood every preparation method and process. The appetizer and food here is exceptional. Do not expect huge portions, you will receive perfectly sized portions for meals that are made wonderfully, cooked properly and with precision and seasoned then plated and delivered with excellence. The pricing is more than fair for the type of special meal you receive. Desserts are also special. The dinner listing offers about 8 items. Two in our party were hoping for was the bass dish. It was not available and I thought there could have been a similar replacement for a Friday evening on a meal that was 'sold out' already when we were there fairly early. Other than that small miss Spoon is worth going to again. Thank you for a good evening.
This place deserves 5 stars and a Michelin star for the food and service. The food was creative, delicious and perfectly executed. We had the bass. It was moist and perfectly seasoned. The duck/ foie toast was amazing. The dan dan was flavorful without being overly spicy. The chicken dish was moist however the chicken confit cake that accompanied it was dry. The octopus was tender and perfectly grilled. Service was pleasant and knowledgeable. This is a great find. ( ps. We came from New York City for Mother’s Day which is usually a tough restaurant day and it was a perfect experience.)
very disappointing....decline since my last visit on all accounts. Service very uneven and poor value for the meal.
My wife and I had a nice meal here for her birthday. The service and food were very good. Spoon is very consistent this dinner was our fifth occasion in two years.
A wonderful meal. Very creative menu. Good service. Nice atmosphere. You can't go wrong at Spoon where Chef Brian is sending out some really good stuff.
We had not been to Spoon in at least six months. What a wonderful dinner we had! The service was prompt and the food was delicious. I ordered a specialty cocktail that I would definitely order again.
This was practically flawless. Exceptional restaurant ... fabulous quality. Would eat here every week if I lived it Pittsburgh.
First time trying restaurant and it was a wonderful experience. The waiter explained the four-course Prix fixe for $45 which sounded wonderful which was too much food for my colleague. We both ordered entrees and shared the Dan Dan which was recommended by the waiter. It was extremely flavorful and really enjoyed the appetizer. I thoroughly enjoyed the diver scallops and my colleague her filet! I would definitely come back again! The service was outstanding and the employees were very personable!
Went here when my dad was in town. We’ve been there for brunch before and it was great (chicken confit over polenta with Asian slaw and fresh ground coffee). Had a fabulous cocktail called Rivera side. We ordered goat cheese soufflé as an appetizer. It and the bread basket were phenomenal. I ordered the scallops in coconut milk with mint and basil and it was great. Best scallops I’ve ever had and I come from the South! The service is always great: attentive but not pushy. Love this place.
We liked the chef's menu. 45$/p. Really tasty. Very good meat.
Excellent food overall. They were limited with the amount of foie gras. I would have paid extra for more. I ordered the octopus as main dish which was very well prepared and seasoned.
The server was wonderful and the food was fantastic! A lovely spot for a nice dinner.
We had a very nice dinner at Spoon. The Hawaiian rolls were amazing and probably my favorite part of the meal. My husband had the wild boar ragu which was excellent, and I had the octopus. I felt like the octopus was lacking a little bit of flavor, but it was still very good. We also split a order of the frites which I thought needed more salt, but my husband said they were seasoned perfectly. Overall it was a very good meal and they do not skimp on portions. We had to take some home because neither of us could finish. The service was great and the ambiance was nice. We would definitely recommend and hope to go again soon!
It’s a limited menu for vegetarians. But nice people and it looked good.
We had a fabulous experience at Spoon. All 4 members of our party loved their meal. Appetizers and desserts were terrific too.
Spoon is one of our favorite restaurants and it didn't disappoint again. The service is spot on--just enough attention and very timely. The wild striped bass with coucous was excellent -- moist but the skin was crispy. We finished the evening with drinks at the bar -- the barista is so friendly and works to make your drink request perfect.
Excellent service and food! Ambiance was elegant not crowded. Excellent wine menu as well.
we will be back
Always love to eat at Spoon.
Wait staff was great
Somalieur very knowledgeable
Spoon never disappoints. The food is scrumptious, the service is impeccable, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming.
Thanks for a great time spoon! That foie gras with marmalade and some kinda pumpkin pie spice was super good. Also pickled prawn, never seen that before but it makes total sense. Everyone very friendly.
Very good. Interesting decor. Surprised that there weren’t more diners at the lunch time
Excellent Chef's dinner menu! The quality is exquisite...spectacular taste!
Excellent experience. Food was fantastic and the Gin cocktails were equally impressive. (Bartenders were really helpful helping us choose from the many options.) You will not be disappointed.
Excellent menu and service. Desserts were scrumptious
The meal at Spoon was excellent from start to finish. The bread basket held true baking treasures (small biscuits, light corn muffins, baguette style bread), all superb. We liked our appetizers (the intriguingly composed salad and the toothy ricotta dumplings) but it was the main plates where the sophistication of the cooking truly shone.
The service was attentive, friendly, and collaborative, a rare trifecta these days. We can only recommend Spoon most enthusiastically.
Sevice was very good. Food was nothing exceptional but can’t complain. A bit of a drive from city center and restaurant was not willing to call a taxi for us after dinner to return to our hotel. Would not go back. Too many other great restaurants our uber driver told us about on our way back to our hotel....many of them are rated higher on trip advisor.
My husband and I had a very nice dinner. Our waitress was great the food was good and the wine list was nice.
Everything was great except the one meal. The chicken was so over cooked it could not be eaten.
Spoon is one of our "go-to" dining spots. The bar service is great; creative, excellent cocktails. We love sitting by the fire before our meal. If it's just the two of us, we enjoy eating at the bar. But we enjoy sharing this great restaurant with our friends as well. Everything is well-prepared with the freshest of ingredients. The wait staff are all very familiar with the dishes, how they're prepared, ingredients, etc. Great appetizers... had the pork belly sliders this time; my husband enjoyed the steak tartar. Our friends opted for the gnocchi... pillows of deliciousness! The pork ragu was wonderful, and you can't go wrong with their "Spoon Burger". Attentive staff without too much hovering. Always a great meal.
This was easily the best meal my friend and I have had in a long time! We go to all of the best restaurants in Pittsburgh, so that says something. I won’t call out other restaurants but we’ve easily paid double at other places and not enjoyed the meal quite as much! The service was excellent and she was very helpful in steering us in the right direction. I asked about two different meals and figured she’d recommend the more expensive one; she didn’t. I loved the wild boar ragu. Also, if you go, the Dan Dan as a starter is an absolute must!!
The food was good, a little over priced for the serving size. However the major thing that really disgusted my friend and I was the women's bathroom floors were sticky! They were dirty behind the toilets and it was dark in there. For me that says a lot about a place. Provably won't be back.
The staff was friendly, atmosphere pleasant. Food and beverages were creative and delicious.
The food was good. I liked the wild boar and the octopus. The cocktails were also very delightful. We had the pistachio cake and it was very tasty.
Pan seared foie gras is the main reason we came here. It was excellent! Scallops were huge prepared with delicious pork belly chunks, an exceptional dish! The juicy burger had a slight kick to it and was served with a heaping pile of fries. The side of onion rings rounded out a delicious meal. The decor was simple and clean, felt cozy even with the high ceilings. The lighting was perfect, soft but bright enough to read the menu. Came here with my daughter before she returned to campus. Will return for sure!
Spoon was a terrific Saturday dinner. We had friends come from out of town and met them there. I have some food insensitivities and Spoon was very accommodating to them. Great cocktail and wine list. Friends enjoyed the wild boar pasta dish, I had the chicken, my wife had Dan Dan noodles and ravioli...all dishes were beautifully presented and tasty. Fine dining, but not over priced for the quality. Great desserts also. Overall a great experience and I'd highly recommend Spoon to anyone!
Interesting and well-presented food coupled with attentive and friendly service made this an enjoyable night out. Above average wine list. We will be back!
The food was good but not great. The service was the real problem though. It took 15 minutes for someone to finally come to our table and she didn’t even ask to take our drink order. She only took it when we asked if we could order drinks. Then it took over 20 minutes to get the drinks (a draft beer and an old fashioned). The salad came before the drinks. We were never asked if we wanted another drink during the two hours that the dinner for two took.
I thought the food was good, but not great, and somewhat below my previous experiences there. I also thought the lighting was too bright.
This is a wonderful restaurant. Tremendous food and very professional service. A very nice location for a special dinner. We greatly enjoyed every dish.
