We will constantly strive to source seasonal, local and sustainable products whenever possible.
Food is fantastic, service is wonderful, everybody treated us like family. We will be back.
One of the few pricier restaurants in Pittsburgh where I leave feeling I got my money's worth. Everything is fabulous. The scallops were delectable.
I can’t wait to go back and eat here. We were visiting for the weekend and I searched Farm to Table restaurants and best of Pittsburgh and Spoon made both the lists. Met all my expectations and more.
The food and service were exceptional! We had the celery root soup, which was topped with a generous amount of crabmeat. It was superb! The walleye entree was delicious as well. We would love to return to try other menus items, but we weren’t in town long enough.
The staff were fantastic: friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. The food was delicious and beautiful. We had a reservation, but had to wait a bit bc the people at our table before took longer than anticipated (not the restaurant’s fault). Only real complaint is that it was too chilly in the building.
Once again we were thrilled by the cuisine and had to struggle to get the service we think a place of this calibre requires. The fish dishes were perfection and everyone loved their main courses. (The duck + frisée did not please us all but was well prepared and presented.) Meantime the waitstaff, pleasant and solicitious always, failed to notice when glasses were empty while trying to take away plates that were clearly in active use. I can't help but think it's just a matter of training and vigilance of management to make improvements, but I've seen little change over time. But again, Bravi for the food!
Our important guest and we had a wonderful dinner as usual.
Whenever we need a little formal, business or special occasion, we come to Spoon.
In addition to the great service and food, the prices on the menu are surprisingly reasonable.
Food was prepared well but the base of the main course was cold and the fish was hot. Service was slow on a slow night. The first glass of wine was not the correct pour so had to get another glass.
As always Spoon never disappoints. Always exceptional food and impeccable service.
Menu offered excellent and interesting options. Food and presentation were also excellent. Sommelier was very helpful in explaining our wine options. Much improved from our last visit a few years ago. We will be back and tell our friends!
The walleye is fantastic. Really nice place for a special date.
4 of us met for a midweek dinner. We were shown to our table immediately and it was comfortable. It was a Tuesday so the restaurant was not crowded or noisy. We all agreed that the food was delicious. The tuna poke and the Dan Dan noodles were both hits. Overall it was a delicious and relaxing evening with great service.
Usually very good overall. Unique menu. Trendy location.
Great atmosphere. The food was incredible with so many different tastes and textures. It was a wonderful dining experience.
Wonderfully eclectic restaurant offering good food and wine, and a relaxed atmosphere.
Spoon is a wonderful place. The food is so fresh and clean with a beautiful presentation. They use local farms and the menu is updated daily. The service is spot on and location is great. Recomend highly
Everything from the little breadbasket to appetizers (tuna poke is awesome) to the main course (halibut) was wonderful! The for those who are not imbibing, try the "Responsible Citizen and you'll never miss the alcohol!
The food was delightful and the service was outstanding. I would recommend you try this restaurant, if you’re in Pittsburg.
Great food and service! Tina is an awesome waitress. The chocolate cake is amazing. I have had the poke, bruschetta and octopus appetizers and they were all good. Highly recommend!
Food was excellent, interesting, and delicious. Service was uniformly haphazard and disappointing.
Exceptional meal. Service was a bit slow- would definitely return.
Fabulous food. Grade A. Would go again in a heart beat. The only thing is the menu on open table wasn’t the same as their current menu. Food was incredible.
The service was excellent. Very attentive, knowledgeable and professional staff. Drink and menu options and pricing were good. Loved that local ingredients are a focus. Food was great. Not fall off your chair amazing, but very good and we would come back again to try something different.
Food was fantastic. Server was struggling. Had too many tables. And the bar was a disaster. We came for dinner at 7pm, just a relaxing Friday dinner so we ordered two beers. Easy enough right? Nope. Took 20 min to get and when it came server poured it into the glass straight up so the head over grew and it overflowed onto the table. Yikes! Did it not once but twice! Good food, nice place, bar and servers need help.
Great food and service!
Great service and staff. Food was delicious and wine list great. Highly recommend!
We had a wonderful experience at Spoon. Our waitress Breanna was very helpful and attentive but not overly so. The Stuffed-Crab Zucchini Blossoms appetizer was delicious. We especially loved the marinated tomatoes that came with the dish. My husband and I both got the Walleye for our entree, and we were not disappointed. The crispy panko crusted side was very good and the mustard remoulade was a nice accompaniment. This was our first visit to Spoon but will not be our last.
Service was great, very attentive and professional, food was very good as well
Everything executed perfectly. The Tuna poke app was brilliantly enhanced by cubed watermelon. Ravioli (artichoke-ricotta) were perfectly firm-tender. The fried walleye plate was delicious, with a terrific slaw. Wine and beer selection was excellent. Prices moderate. Fine choice!
Spoon is my absolute favorite place to dine. The four course meal is the best deal, and the chef did an amazing job adapting mine to be vegetarian. All dishes and the service were excellent. I can't wait to go back again soon!
Once again, the kitchen triumphs while front of house tries to keep up. Great food; that's crucial. But despite very friendly and sincere waitstaff, there are persistent issues from multiple visits that seem unnecessary: duplicate requests from different waitstaff about drinks; long wait times before wine or tea appears; mistakes of what's to acmes to whom. individual preferences are accommodated and followed, which doesn't always happen in restos, but here they are attentive.
Wonderful food and great service
It's a little pricey but the food was phenomenal! We had two appetizers, the dan dan bowl and the grilled octopus. The dan dan had an asian flare with noodles, spicy sauce, and a perfectly runny egg on top. The grilled octopus had a perfectly grilled flavor and the texture was amazing - not chewy or rubbery AT ALL! For our entrees, I had the chicken which came with the most delicious fried green tomatoes I've ever had and my fiance had the halibut which came with white beans that tasted amazing. Our waiter, Angelo, took great care of us and was very knowledgeable about the menu. We were both very pleased.
Ravioli was perhaps the most spicy thing I’ve ever eaten. Not pleasant at all
My boyfriend and I were very disappointed with our experience at Spoon. Our appetizers were burned, our entrees were bland, and the drinks from the bar were so strong they were almost undrinkable. We spent over $100 on dinner for two and left vowing to never return. The service was perhaps the only modicum of a fine dining restaurant, but was not enough to make the experience enjoyable. Very disappointed with our experience at Spoon.
Restaurant week menu was misrepresented. The server acted surprised when we questioned salmon as opposed to halibut dish that was published. I then over heard the same story at 2 neighboring tables. Chose this menu because of the halibut not the salmon offered every where. Things happen but don’t play bait and switch unless everyone has the same story.
I haven't been to Spoon in a very long time and was disappointed on what I remember. I felt the experience wasn't as good as the first two times I was there. The salmon was overcooked and dry and the food could have been a little more flavorful. The wine was paired well with the meal but overall I wouldn't come back.
Very good restaurant and reasonably priced for what is offered. Food is very good and inventive, but I wouldn’t say there was a “wow” factor. That being said, still one of the best restaurants in Pittsburgh.
Restaurant week 3 course meal with dishes of locally-sourced veggies and fruit. Fried squash blossom over heirloom tomatoes and blue cheese soufflé with sliced nectarines and plums were excellent. Main course of chicken breast quarter with fried green tomatoes and sauces was also very good. The other main entree of grilled salmon over beans, with fresh dill and pickled fennel pices was good; however on plate with a thick piece of salmon was undercooked and raw in the center and had to return to the grill. Fresh bread and butter included hot-from-the-oven, flaky chive biscuits along with cornbread muffins and sourdough bread. Dessert was extremely tasty fresh peaches and house-made fennel ice cream with a granola nut crumble topping. Portions were large and doggie bags necessary. Service and wait staff were superb.
Went for restaurant week. Thought overall it was an average meal. Nothing special.
