First trip to Spoon and it was worth the visit. My first impression was the servers where very attentive and did a fantastic job throughout our meal.
We each got an app and an entree. The Blue Cheese soufflé was very good, I was expecting more blue cheese presence in the dish but the flavors worked well together in the dish. My wife got the Korean Beef app which we both enjoyed greatly.
Our entrees we both very good. I would recommend the pork dish, the duo of pork shoulder and crispy pork belly is a favorite of mine.
The drink menu has several interesting house cocktails and the wine list is strong. They do a nice job of featuring unique wines by the glass you won’t see at other establishments in the area.
My fiance and I try to make it to a new restaurant every month. This month we tried Spoon. We started out with the Carrot Pierogi and Korean BBQ appetizer. Both were great, but we seem to favor the Pierogi the most. My fiance had the swordfish and I the filet. Both were cooked perfectly, delicious, and were more than enough, as far as portion size goes. We were told that we had to try the Spoon Burger, so we got that as well. It was good, but not as great as the other two entrees. We ended up with two appetizers and three entrees and it just put us over the $100 mark. I would recommend to anybody looking to try a new restaurant!
Visiting daughter in Pittsburgh. Love the shadyside area. This is a great restaurant food and ambiance. Warm and inviting on a very very cold day in the Burgh. Food was very good. My daughter and I had the swordfish and the guys enjoyed the chicken and Pork Loin. Also has valet parking. Can’t wait to come visit in the summer and try it again.
I was expecting more from this restaurant. It was disappointing. The food was not hot and the flank steak was not as tender as it should have been. The bourbon list was disappointing as well. They seem to be very Gin focused - they have an entire menu for Gin and Gin drinks - looked good, but we were in the mood for Old Fashions, didn't order them. The Ice Cream was delicious - toasted marshmallow :)
Gluten free options. Personable and professional service. Quality inventive modern American food. Particularly enjoyed the roasted cauliflower, pistachio brittle in the salad and the coffee rubbed flank steak. Nice cocktail, wine by the glass and beer selections. Comfortable ambiance suitable for a special occasion.
We have been to Spoon before, but our server really raised the bar. She was exceptional and did a fabulous job. Always ready to answer questions, knowledgeable about the menu items, checking back frequently, even escorted me to the ladies room. Couldn't have asked for better service. And the food was great, too!
We are former residents of Pittsburgh visiting our adult daughter for her birthday and chose Spoon. Staff accommodated our request to bring our own cake. They even cut, plated it and served it and did not charge a plating fee. They were also able to accommodate special dietary preferences and a fairly late evening reservation. Their first impression is great!
This highly rated Pittsburgh restaurant lived entirely up to its reputation. This is foody food plus just very good high quality dining. The new pork dish was fantastic as was the appetizer souffle. We did not try the four dish dining for the table but it looked excellent.
We had a wonderful anniversary dinner. The food was delicious and the wait staff was attentive. We mentioned it was our anniversary dinner and they went out of their way by writing Happy Anniversary on our dessert plate in chocolate and gorgeous handwriting. It was a very special touch that we really appreciated.
