Slow, slow, slow. Granted it was BigTen Championship game night, but we had a reservation. We are still waiting for our entree (which hadn't arrived after 60 minutes). Food was "okay" (what we got). Our first and last visit.
I’ve been here three times. Consistently serves great food, good service, beautiful setting. Ever changing menu keeps it interesting. Cocktails are outstanding.
It was more like a bar setting really loud. The food I got was terrible (shrimp & grits) very watery with no flavor. and I took one bite which my waitress notice and said nothing about. I was greeted with a free glass of wine when I mentioned it was my birthday. Which service was cool
When I made reservations I asked if there was a children’s menu and the answer was yes, yet upon arrival there were no such menu.
Went for Sunday brunch. Crowded, but we were seated right away. The host took our order because the 2 servers could not handle the crowd, apparently. Waited 45 minutes for an omelette and a burger. Soda was served in a can for $3. That was strange.
Our server Brandon was excellent, as was the food ! Definitely can’t wait to come back !
I can recommend for breakfast. But for anything after 5 pm you have to plan to be here 2 to 3 hrs with the service just being so slow. Its just way understaffed with only 1 or 2 servers at any time. So I would warn against anyone having dinner here as a pre-game or pre-concert meal. Food quality is still very good. And so that is what makes the service appear that much worse. No sense in a chef taking the time to create a great meal if its going to sit 20 or 30 minutes before getting to the table (thats what Door Dash was created for! LOL)
I was a bit apprehensive given this is in a hotel, but the food was excellent and the service was great! Good selection of food, and of cocktails. Will return for sure!
Thank you so much! So happy that you enjoyed everything!
Had brunch before the game. Excellent
Visited Spoke and Steel for my hubby’s birthday - we enjoyed our experience overall very much. Great craft cocktails - and the best French fries I’ve ever had in my life (not an expected choice at a restaurant like this - but I’m glad we did...)
Read great reviews about the restaurant, were disappointed only in the service. It took quite some time for us to even be greeted by the staff - and our server (who seemed to be wonderful!!) was just so busy it felt like he was in a rush to serve us. Especially when spending a bit more on dinner - we always love a more personalized approach from the staff. But overall the food was outstanding.
Thank you for the great review! Our servers strive to create a bespoke experience for all guests, but we did get very unexpectedly busy that evening. We hope you'll join us again to receive the service that you (and we!) expect. Thanks again!
We enjoyed an early dinner at the bar after a meeting on a Friday. We were early, before our reservation and before dinner was to be served, however, the hostess, bartender and servers (as well as the kitchen)accommodated us, efficiently and most graciously. The menu choices allowed for the meat lover and the vegetarian, plate sizes were quite good. yes, a bit pricey, but the food was fresh, well prepared and oh so tasty.
Thank you so much! We're so happy that you enjoyed your visit, and hope to see you again soon!
We had to eat early and it was nice because they were not busy yet. Food was excellent. Our server was very knowledgeable about different wines. Made our experience great
Thank you so much! So happy that you enjoyed your visit.
The signature barrel aged old fashion was fantastic as was the signature Sea Bass and plank Salmon. The waitress suggested a fine wine that complemented the Sea Bass wonderfully. We were additionally treated with a visit from Chef Erin. The quality of food, service and beverages is outstanding.
Thank you so much for joining us! We're so happy that you enjoyed everything. See you again soon!
Good food and lots of variety. The ambiance is contemporary and well put-together but there is no need to dress fancy. It is right next to nightlife and the Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Only complaint is that some of the dishes were very low portion for the price (and I am accustomed to smaller portions, but this was just not enough).
Thank you so much for the feedback, Jess! We hope you will join us again very soon.
The biscuits were the best. The oysters needed to be colder. Service dropped off as our meal went on.
Everything was delicious, the hamachi was so fresh, my only wish was that there was more of it. It got a little noisy at one point but otherwise everything was excellent.
Highly enjoyable meal. We shared medium plates as tapas.
Really cute atmosphere, perfect for our bachelorette party brunch! Delicious food and drinks. Lots of options! Our waitress was really busy so was not as attentive as we’d have liked, but we really loved our whole experience!
Thank you so much for the kind words. We hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend!
Having enjoyed many meals here in the past, I was disappointed to see the change in menu offerings and ambiance. Even with reserved seatings (3 mo in advance) identified as a special occasion, we were not seated on time and the noise level around our table completely impaired any/all conversation. This type of service was well below expectations based upon previous visits.
Erika, so sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your experience. We changed the focus of the restaurant to a small, medium, and large plate format this spring and the response to this has been overwhelmingly positive although we acknowledge that it is a definite departure for those who enjoyed our previous chef's vision. On the night you visited, Elton John cancelled his show at BLF which resulted in guests sitting far longer than normal, delaying seating. We hope that you will visit us again.
We recently had a long dinner here and the 4 of us slowly moved through 2 shared appetizers, 2 shared small plates, 2 shared medium plates, 2 shared large plates, and dessert. Of the 8 dishes we tried, most were good. Our appetizers were the hush puppies and roasted brussels. Both tasted good, but weren't anything special. The small plates we tried were the deconstructed sushi roll and oysters. The sushi roll was good, but the oysters were just OK and there were small bits of shell in each bite. The medium plates were probably the most enjoyable, which were the shrimp and grits and the pot stickers. For the large plates, we chose the lobster fettuccine, which was very good. We also got the Chilean sea bass. This was denoted as a restaurant specialty, but for $50 it was a small piece of fish and large piece of bok choy in a mildly flavored broth. It was the most disappointing, especially for that price point. If you had skipped everything and gone straight to a large dish, this would have left you hungry. The desserts were just OK. The service was fantastic and the atmosphere got loud, but was enjoyable. This is not a place I'd go to again as the food experience was mediocre the first time I went a few years ago, too.
We dined there before a show, and it was a wonderful evening. (And is recommend getting the biscuits, they’re absolutely delicious!)
Thank you so much, Sarah! So happy that you had a great time. And we agree -- the biscuits are amazing! See you again soon!
It was awesome
Food and Service was Excellent, Bloody Mary had way too much Horseradish!!!! But overall good brunch!!!
Thanks, Michele! Yes, we do like our Bloody Marys spicy but we can always tone them down upon request. We hope to see you again soon!
Delicious brunch before the colts game. Charcuterie board was large and delicious cheeses and meats along with warm bread slices, butter and jam on the board to use.
Thanks, Happydiner! We hope to see you again soon. Go Colts!
Dined at Spoke I had salmon. Both were excellent. The pinot noir we had with dinner was quite good and more or less reasonably priced (3 times retail mark-up, maybe 3.5). Overall, our experience was quite enjoyable. We'll be back.
So glad you enjoyed it, James! We hope to see you again very soon.
Great resh food with unique dishes. Highly recommend the biscuits and Scallops. The pot stickers were awesome too!
Kenneth, thank you! So happy you enjoyed your meal. We hope to see you again very soon!
The only uncomfortable situation was the time I waited on the valet when I went to leave. He was MIA and another customer of the restaurant waiting had to go look for him.
So sorry to hear that you had to wait for the valet, but so happy to hear that you enjoyed your meal! Thank you!
Service was SLOW. Our cocktails were delivered the same time as our entrées. Disappointing. Server was very pleasant but couldn’t see why the delay. Place didn’t seem very busy.
Great service friendly staff. Had the Ribeye and eggs w chimichuri. Amazing
Thank you for the great review! We're so happy that you enjoyed your meal. We'll see you again soon!
Overall very good. The sea bass was excellent. As well as the lobster shrimp pot stickers.
Thank you for the great review! Chef Erin enjoyed meeting you and sends along a hello! Please come back and see us very soon. Thanks again!
Spoke & Steele is a gem of a restaurant. The menu is creative and the food is stellar. I have not had a better charcuterie board anywhere else. The wine list is unique and the waitstaff is well versed in it. The waitstaff is professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. This is a must try restaurant if you find yourself In Indianapolis.
Thank you so much for the great review! We hope to see you again very soon!
Super loud and service was a bit slow but friendly. Food was delicious but pricey.
The food was delicious and the service spot on. The prices are a bit high for the quantity and a couple people left hungry.
Noise was high due to some very loud customers
We were disappointed with the value of the experience. The food prices were very high, and the ambiance was very bad... loud children noises filled the space. We ordered scallops and got 2 for $19, much too much for what you got... the waitress advised us that we would only get 2 but still the price was high. We were told that rice would be included but it wasn’t really rice, it was 2 flat things about the size of a quarter. Drinks were very good but overpriced.
Hello, John -- I wanted to reach out to you regarding your experience with us. You are correct: on the night you visited, we had an unusual number of children in the restaurant that created a pretty loud atmosphere. This is not normally the case. Regarding the scallop dish, the ingredient you mentioned was a Korean rice cake. I would like to invite you back to try us again. Please contact me at enicoson@spokeandsteele at your earliest convenience. Thank you for your feedback!
Great food and service!
Thank you for the great review! We look forward to seeing you again very soon.
We had a great time. Food was really tasty, and I always love small plate style so you can try multiple items. Service was nice and the ambiance was funky but elegant
Thank you for the great review! We hope to see you again very soon.
Spoke & Steele is an excellent dining experience
Terrific as always!
Thank you for the great review! We hope to see you again very soon!
The ambience is very nice, elegant. Lunch menu doesn’t really offer vegetarian options (all sandwiches have meat). Service was a little slow, it took about 45 minutes to get our food (only three tables were sat).
