Fabulous food and exceptional service with the Pacific Ocean steps away.
We celebrated my husband birthday at Splashes. We truly enjoyed this restaurant. The food, view, ambience, and service were excellent. Our server, Ryan, was wonderful and attentive. For dinner we chose chef special -3 course meal. Everything on the menu was excellent. We especially loved the smoked albacore sashimi, and the salmon was the best we've ever had! Kudos to the chef. He sure knows how to create wonderful food for people to enjoy. We have recommended Splashes to our friends. We will definitely visit your restaurant again in the future. Thank you for the wonderful experience!
I requested a window table and was delighted when we were seated right on the ocean. Our waiter was so nice and attentive and our drinks and meal were fabulous. I tried the "Peach on a Beach" specialty drink and it was very refreshing. I ordered the Ho eyes Carrot Salad which I really enjoyed and my husband had the Lobster salad & Bisque. My entree was the Veal Loin which was flavorful and cooked perfectly, my husband had the Chef's specialty Paella and loved it. Everything was very delicious. It was a delightful dining experience from start to finish. Would definitely eat there again when in Laguna Beach.
Food & service were outstanding !!! It was the perfect place to celebrate our thirty seventh anniversary.
Great special occasion place. Beautiful view of the ocean. Only bad was our wait for table despite having a reservation. Our kids food came out, but our mains took a really long time. My fish was a tad bit over-salted but was cooked to perfection. The staff made my daughter feel very special on her bday.
Incredible view, right above the waves. Great food...order the Brussels sprouts appetizer...no questions asked, just do it...you won’t be sorry. :)
I had reservations for a few months. Our setting was not the best. Lobster was good but the accompaniment was less than stellar. If I were to go back I would get a table in the bar.
We just moved to Laguna Niguel. You'll see us there very often.
It was a Mother/Daughter week at the Surf and Sand, so we chose to go to Splashes for our last night celebration. The food was fantastic and our waiter was fabulous, especially given it was extremely busy. He was very attentive throughout the entire evening. He ended up feeling very bad for how long our main dish took so he gave us 2 of our favorite desserts on him. Very gracious and something you don't encounter these days! We will definitely be back!
Very creative, upscale menu delivered with informative, professional service. Definitely one of the best places we have been to and the Newport/ Laguna Beach area. Highly recommend it.
Splashes is probably the best view and location restaurant in Laguna Beach. I have been there many times over the years as it is close to my home. We ate right on the open patio on the water and it was beautiful. The service was excellent, and attentive. My issue with the food is that it was way too fussy with conflicting ingredients. It took my guest and I a long time to find a simple sandwich or salad and even find something that sounded appetizing. Even the Caesar salad had kale in it. The gnocchi had tarragon in it. We are not picky eaters, and we have eaten all over the world. Most of the dishes just had too much going on and tried too hard. At the end we had a hamburgers and grilled fish. Net net, more simple choices without conflicting ingredients would have been nice. Despite my opinion on the food, I would recommend this beautiful place for drinks anytime. Hopefully the menu changes in the future.
The restaurant was beautiful views and sounds of the ocean are unmatched. Our server was good and well versed in the menu. The food was disappointing overall. Sides and starters were unappealing but the short rib was very good.
The only good thing about this place was the view, we sat by a window facing the ocean. The food is mediocre and flavorless and my margarita was watered down, I wouldn’t pay $15 let alone $150 for what we had there.
Beautiful view, especially at sunset! We ordered the filet and it was over cooked, the manager personally took care of it and also gave us complimentary creme brûlée! Great Service and amazing food!
We opted to try this restaurant before attending a performance in Laguna Beach. The location was waterfront, the food was beautifully presented and simply delicious and the service attentive. We will definitely return. A word of caution, the cost of a meal for two without wine was over $200. We believe that the meal was well worth it, but it is an expensive dinner (3 courses plus beverages).
Patio had a breeze and wonderful sound of waves splashing against the seawall; however, during most of our dinner (6:30 pm--7:30), my husband sat in the sun because patio is too small to accommodate big umbrellas. Waiter was courteous. Sole and sea trout were perfectly cooked. Sauces were delicious and colorful.
Too hot and stuff to sit in restaurant. The restaurant is small and most of the tables have minimal views.
Waiter didn't give me the correct order. When he asked us if we were ready to order, he told us what the evenings "special" was. It was a three-course meal with escargot as an appetizer; sole, main entrée'; crème' brulee', dessert; price $75. I said that I would like the special, the three-course meal. I was served only sole. I asked the waiter where my escargot was and why it hadn't be served first. His reply made no sense. I told him "never" mind because my husband shared his mussels with me. But, I still expected the crème' bruelee'. He didn't seem to understand, so I told him to forget it. Another waiter brought us the crème' brulee'.
Ha dreservations for lunch but no valet so had to park 4 blocks up the hiill and was eventually seated in hottest place in the restaurant on glassed in lower level with no breeze/cooling/open windows.
Wait staff should have offered a cooler location becauset hey were uncomfortable themselves and we are in our 70's so they should have put 2 and 2 together and offered a better spot. Plenty of seating was available at the upper level where it was much cooler.
Had 1 drink and appetizer and left but was planning for a nice anniversary lunch on the ocean. Might as well put up a large screen TV with ocean view and put us in a closet.
Drove 50 miles to get there. Big disappointment.
This place has great food, great service, and a great view, right on the beach.
Pricey but worth it.
Hostess was extremely pleasant. Waiter seemed to pushing our order quickly. View of the beach and the waves were a nice touch. Food was an A++
Ryan was absolutely amazing, knew the best choice for us, knew our needs before we did!! The food fabulous, everything we tried. The view of the ocean, sunset, just wonderful.
The manager Virgilio and our waitress, Kimmy, made us feel special and welcome. We requested a table inside and on the window and the view onto the beach was extraordinary. Both the wild halibut and the fish special were excellent and the heirloom tomato salad was as gorgeous as it was delicious. In all, a perfect way to spend our wedding anniversary!
Stunning view with fancy food
Amazing! Service was great! Ambiance was great! Everything was great!
Lamb was cold, not even warm! Halibut was room temperature was ( if that) and the mashed potatoes was closer to potato soup...too runny! And the Cesar dressing had no flavor...and the Parmesan crisp was stale! However, the manager did comp out the lamb, and we said nothing about the halibut being cold. (To embarassed for the restaurant)
Server was fantastic. Food was great. Seating was amazing.
Gorgeous view right on the beach. Server was super friendly and professional. Food delicious. We had brunch. Only downside was would have liked more options for brunch. Great place and will definitely be back!
Valet was full so nowhere to park. Had to park a mile away. Server had my husband move his seat to different side of table to accommodate a party next to us. Requested oceanside table outside upon making reservation. Only table available upon arrival was inside one table further than oceanside. We wont be back.
My wife and I have been here many times and always enjoy our time. You really cant get a better spot on the water in S OC. I gave it fair on value simply because there really isnt much of anything in LB that is cheap. We are not really expecting value in OC, but always enjoy our time out.
Splashes continues to be one of my favorite restaurants of all time in California. The restaurant over looks the beautiful beach which is lit up at night. The dishes are a combination of seasonal fruits and vegetables enhanced with flavors that work well with each other. The service is impeccable with a full knowledge of each dish. The whole experience is lovely and relaxing and I keep enjoying my meal each time I am in Laguna Beach. A must go for special occasions or memorable moments.
We were seated promptly and given a perfect seat with a balcony overlooking the beach. Our server was attentive and courteous.
Everything I would expect from a fine dining restaurant. Service was great, food was awesome, and the view was special.
We came here for a special occasion. We were looking forward to this restaurant as the highlight of our entire trip and unfortunately it did not meet up to our expectations. We did not get the requested window seating as it appeared it was offered more important guests. In all fairness the restaurant does have a disclaimer stating they can't guarantee window seating. But instead of finding a more appropriate/intimate location we were placed in the center of the room next to a large noisy party of 8. Strike one.
Wine list was extensive and only had price tags over $50 which is excessive considering some of the wines listed retail much less than that. We were prepared to pay for a nice bottle of wine so we overlooked this but folks should know that the wine list is pricey. Apparently there was some wine steward available but he must have been busy helping the more important customers.
Now the menu. We had the short ribs and petite filet. Presentation was pretty good. There was excellent flavor in both orders. The petite filet was ordered medium rare and came out more medium. Should I let it pass since this technically isn't a steakhouse? Considering they still charged almost $50 for this entree, not including side dishes, one would expect perfection.
The service itself was also mediocre. We shouldn't have to wonder where our waiter is on multiple times during the dinner, nor ask for more water.
We have eaten at many fine dining restaurants across the country. In summary, if you want to label yourself as some foo-foo restaurant with your foo-foo prices then you better have the service and quality to go with the $300 price tag
Will not be back and would recommend another fine dining restaurant. There are many others to choose from in the area.
Going to Splashes for our anniversary met our expectations!
Culinary Guide... "Philip Marquis" contributed greatly to our evening.
In summary... we will return.
The food was excellent, great options for gluten free, allergies and Paleo. Wonderful service. Top notch all around.
Great food and perfect view
If you’re looking for a unique dining experience, Splashes is a perfect choice. The food is not only amazing, but you are right next to the ocean and can hear and see the waves throughout your meal. Highly recommend.
This was to celebrate my moms 95 Birthday enjoyed sitting at Splashes great fun!! Did have to send two Hamburgers back as asked for well done both raw in middle! Great views and great service
We had a reservation, I sent my guests on time and they would not seat them until I arrived. Poor customer experience as my guests had to wait in an area that didn’t have a suitable sitting area. They could have been easily seated and ordering drinks and appetizers while waiting for us. The restaurant should treat their repeat customers with better respect.
