Great atmosphere. Overall service was amazing .
The overall experience was great! We will return.
The food is a bit pricey for what you get, but you are paying more for than the experience than anything. The service was great, the food was quick, and the view was amazing.
Service and atmosphere are already worth going. Spent a fast three hours with wine, appetizer, and main course. The food was great and fresh. Some was a bit bland but you can't please everyone every time. I would recommend going for anyone in a serious relationship and wants to get cleaned up and go somewhere nice. It is a bit pricey so be prepared to spend a few hundred if you enjoy conversation and a couple bottles of wine.
Sadly disappointing. Food was unimpressive - salmon was dry and overcooked. Server very sweet but clearly covering numerous tables so unable to be as attentive. Fairly certain I got the wrong wine - it was replaced.
Sat on upper level, no real access to the view from there and the table circles right next to the hostess station. Exited quickly when a very loud party of 20 showed up at the entrance. Some guy talking on his phone was literally pacing back and forth within inches from my table.
Overall the food was good. The menu was very limited though. Love the atmosphere and views. Was really disappointed in our server. She was nice enough but not attentive at all. Got my drink order, a bottle of Perrier when our appetizers came. I expect a bit better than that for the prices they are charging. After dinner she simply asked if we wanted any desserts...I had to ask if they had a dessert menu. Overall, a very average dining experience unfortunately.
Food was below average. Tried all courses and each one was edible, but not enjoyable.
On a positive note, views and service were great.
We arrived a few minutes early, ahead of our reservation. We were seated very soon thereafter and placed dink orders which we delivered promptly. Our server, Tracy, was very attentive and delivered quality service.
The manager stopped by to inquire about our experience. The food was delicious and the views were spectacular as the sun set and evening covered the city.
Awesome service, food was good, great views. A must for any couple!
Food was OK, for the price we paid I expected more. The grilled salmon was dry, the hash browns were quite salty, and the overall presentation of the food was sub par. I'd recommend the place simply for the view of downtown Houston, but would go elsewhere if you're looking for tasty meal. The service itself was great and our server was attentive and friendly.
I really enjoyed the view, customer service really nice . Menu not a lot to select from .
Honestly I don’t believe that food is worth it the best part of my meal was the Brussel sprouts the rest of my dish was bad I could make something better at home, my husband also felt the same way, yes the view is nice but it’s just not worth it
I really enjoyed the whole experience!! I was a little apprehensive because of the reviews but , the kale salad and snapper was delicious ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I moved to Houston as a kid about the time the Spindletop opened and I remember wanting to visit it ever since. I tried a couple of times but it was out of commission due to storms, or, simply booked. Finally, I was able to take my wife there this last weekend. She and I are in the habit of trying both new and established restaurants and we embrace the experience (even if I am prone to steak places) I'm not sure what I expected, but to me it was "meh". I don't think I built it up due to my long time curiosity. I knew buildings had encroached on the view...which still had patches of the spectacular when passing City Hall and the Aquarium Ferris Wheel, but the decor and service was average at best. The vegetables were good, but, my main course for me, the Ribeye was not a great cut of beef and poorly prepared, including being SERIOUSLY underdone.....rare at best when I prefer and ordered medium plus. I was not in the mood to send it back (also, I hesitate to do so growing up as a teen in restaurants) Perhaps more understandable if the menu was even a bit larger, but the menu was very limited. Now, it's my fault I am currently on Keto and my choice would have likely been the ribeye regardless, but I felt "trapped" into the choice since the menu seemed sparse (which we knew due to viewing menu online, but still we expected what they did serve to be better). The waiter did adjust my bill a bit for the bad steak and I tipped him more plus the difference but I was hoping for a better overall experience. Oh, one little nit....the previous GM had put the kibosh on Sweet & Low. Yes, I like the little pink packet and I do know it is very, very minor, it was just one more thing.
I was staying in the Hyatt Regency for business and thus was solo. I read other reviews that the food was so-so and to just do drinks, but to make sure to still reserve a table.
I felt unvalued from the start. I was shown to my table, and asked to see just the drink and dessert list. They asked me if I wanted to go to their “lounge” as it was closer to a window and I said yes. The “lounge” was ok - a couple of small cocktail tables. They told me they’d bring me a water and the dessert list. It took 10 minutes for water and the dessert menu to actually be delivered for me. I ordered a drink, and it took another 10 minutes for it to actually come out to me. No one came by to check on me, I was rudely given the dessert menu without the waiter explaining anything on it. A couple of minutes after I received my drink, another group came in for drinks. Instead of seating them at a table that could accommodate 3, they sat them at a 2 top and took my extra chair. It was unbelievably rude. This group had the dessert menu and cocktail menu explained to them and waters brought out immediately. I finished my drink and then waited a ridiculously long time for my waiter to ever come back. I had dug cash out of my wallet and was literally about to leave it on the table and walk out when someone finally noticed me and walked over to give me my check.
Overall, it was a horrendous experience. Spindletop needs to treat solo business travelers better - they’re located in a hotel! Do they not expect business travelers to ever come by?!
The dessert menu (which I was given no details on) looked poor and nothing interested me. The drink list was ok, but they had no dry bubbly. Prices were ok. For better service and food, go to the steakhouse downstairs. The views were cool, but nothing to write home about.
Loved it we had a great time our waitress and all 3 chefs were awesome!
Really cool atmosphere, great views of downtown. The noise level is very low, sometimes felt like we needed to whisper. Service is top notch, pricing is expensive, but quantities are large and the food is amazing. Really enjoyed the pickle salad and both pork options.
Restaurant should have let in been clear there was a set menu for Valentines Day weekend
Loved it. Great food and service! It feels like you’re flying around like Spider-Man in between the buildings. Ok not really but it was a unique view.
Was a great experience!
This was our first romantic dinner we have been together for 20 years and been married for 17 years every Valentine’s Day I would always just buy her something and some flowers now our kids are grown and some married I decided I wasn’t going to just buy her something she was always I was never romantic so I said to myself what can I do this year so I started searching the best restaurants in town in the being of January I found y’all were the best specially when it was spinning around and you can see all downtown I said yes lived here all my life never been there and then I what if I go all out and got a limousine to take us there so I did so the day came around which it was yesterday I was nervous will she like it will this make romantic guess what she loved everything thank you guys best service best food price doesn’t matter when you see your spouse as happy as she was best all my wife doesn’t speak to much English and your staff speaks Spanish 10 thumbs up thank y’all guys for the best night of our lives I hope to see y’all guys again
There are much nicer restaurants to visit for a nice night out. Spindletop is an alright place to go. But having been to places like “Tower of America” and the Seattle needle... this place just doesn’t compare. A decent time for what it is... I just wouldn’t come back or really promote this place. (We also came for Valentine’s Day... fixed cuisine choices... that might’ve had something to do with the lack of quality that one would expect for fine dining.)
It was disappointing. I mentioned that it was my birthday as well as my first time in Houston but they didn't go out of their way to make it special.
Beautiful view with good service but the food isn’t good. It’s in desperate need of renovation, the chairs the carpet and everything else looks like a buffet or something not a top notch restaurant. I was there for Valentine’s Day and we were both very disappointed!! $90 a plate, 4 cocktails and $300 later I’d never go back!!
This was my first time going to Spindletop on Valentine’s Day, overall it was a great experience, the service was outstanding and food was delicious. The cost for the dinner was a bit high but well worth the experience, will definitely return in the future.
Excellent Service, nice view of Houston downtown and easy parking.
Great waiters and waitresses. Beautiful views. Quite dinning. Will definitely tell friends and family about this fine establishment
Excellent restaurant. The atmosphere was amazing. I would highly recommend this location to family and friends!
The waiter was weird & rose petals were expensive
The atmosphere was beautiful seeing the big bright lights of Houston was amazing
Great food and service, nice quiet atmosphere for a date night.
Everything was Perfect!!
Early Valentines Dinner was great. Food, atmosphere and overall experience was outstanding.
Food was horrible. Waiter didn’t recommend anything off the menu that night. The person who brought out the food was rude.
I went for datenight, but there were 2 families were close to that had younger kids. One family let their children watch videos and cartoons the entire time and it was so loud and annoying.
The other family had younger kids and they were super loud...
Enjoyed the food, but.....
Place is outdated
Very orange lighting in there
We had 2 waiters didn’t know witch one to report too
Food was bad
Dry steak and desert we had a chocolate cake
Very hard and dry as well
Walmart’s tastes better
My dinner was great. The atmosphere was amazing as well. Thank you for such an amazing night.
My Son’s birthday
We went there for our 22nd wedding anniversary and we had an wonderful evening. Seafood order was nice, the rose pearl decorations on the table was wonderful. We loved the view as the rotation was going around. Everything was just perfect and beautiful besides my husband had dizziness from the spinning although it was slow but still. I couldn't notice but it was too much for him. Otherwise the experience of dining was awesome.
Great for a date because of the great views. Service was good. Food was just OK, Seared tuna was normal. Ordered shrimp and grits. grits were great but shrimp was tasteless (frozen) although jumbo. Recommend once but I doubt Ill go back.
