Service was amazing they helped me decorate the table with rose pedals it was awesome!
We really enjoyed out evening out there. Food was delicious, waitress was superkind and the atmosphere with the view was astonishing. I am happy about having the chance to have dinner there.
Won't be going back very short list of Main Course.
For the cost to be 150 for 1 appetizer 2 drinks and 2 entrees one would assume that the service and food would be complimentary. I was so wrong. We were there to celebrate my wife's birthday. We were seated and my wife was not pleased with the location of the table she wanted to be closer to the window. So she asked to be relocated. The hostess stated "let me see of I cam spare a table". Our jaws hit the floor; the nerve of this woman. We did get to move to the table by the window and we enjoyed the view.
The food was TERRIBLE I ordered the blackened Snappepr. For 48 dollars you get 1 filet which was extremely over cooked on top of smushy yellow rice.
My wife ordered the seafood pot. Which tasted like the pot it came in. No flavor at all. So hated it so much so that she requested a different meal. Filet mignon with jumbo shrimp and she was still not pleased
Our waiter was very nice and the drinks were great overall experience was ok. The restaurant is extremely overrated and needs updating. If I were you I would go anywhere but here! I never do reviews so please dont take this with a grain of salt.. pun intended..lol
In terms of an "experience restaurant" this restaurant was on par with any I've ever been to. Generally, they had a good menu (mostly seafood), with exceptional service, and unique views and environmental factors. The pricetag, however, I think makes this place less than superb. They've priced the menu (it seems) to be aligned with other high-end restaurants, the likes of which are generally on beachfront or other unique locales, with regularly changing menus, and somewhat exotic, ecclectic, or signature offerings and somewhat exclusive clientele. Considering the restaurant is located in the heart of Houston, TX downtown, atop a very busy hotel, with a fairly set menu, and no real uniqueness in their preparation or use of ingredients... I think they're priced above their market value.
We were celebrating my birthday, and our daughter had never been to Spindletop, so I thought it might be fun. And I still believe it could (and SHOULD) be a really phenomenal experience--seeing the Houston skyline and having a great dinner. But the entire restaurant is very drab. The decor has not been updated in years; no artwork on the walls; no live music (or audible music at all, really); nothing really dynamic to make the ambiance and experience memorable. Our servers were pleasant but very slow. I didn't mind it, because we didn't have a show to catch or anything, but it did feel like they were disengaged. The food is good, but the overall experience will make you resent the prices. It just doesn't add up to what you would expect to receive for an a la carte menu with $40 entrees and $14+ cocktails. It is an opportunity ripe for the right entrepreneur to really make it special. The Hyatt Hotel deserves a higher quality special dining room.
Always a great place for 360 views of downtown. The room rotated very slowly
Be sure to go at dusk or night to see lights.
Absolutely fantastic, through and through. Although on the chilly side (rather cold inside against the window) and a tiny bit outdated decor, otherwise fantastic.
(The outside ledge could seriously deserve attention. Tile it or something, but the raw discolored concrete is an eye sore and sours the ever changing landscape you are so noted for)
What an awesome time my wife and I had. Very professional, waiter attended to us was perfect as was the food.
My son enjoyed his 30th Birthday to the FULLEST and also my 16 year old daughter it also. We as a FAMILY will not forget that night. Thanks so much for MAKING this night memorable!!❤
The food was simply just bad. Extremely overpriced for very poor quality food. View was overrated.
Spindletop Restaurant is the perfect place for dinner if you are looking for something new in the Houston area. This place has become one of my favorite places to show off to friends visiting Houston
for the first time. The rotating restaurant atop the Hyatt Regency around the 30th floor has wonderful appetizers and a nice cocktail menu. Main courses were well prepared. I really enjoyed my recent dining experience.
Not worth the $150 I spent on this meal. It was freezing cold in the restaurant, couldn't really enjoy the food. We couldn't wait to leave.
Our host made us feel at home which made the time spent there wonderful 😌 thank you beautiful restaurant
Our server, Mario, did an excellent job. This place is highly recommended.
I loved this place, definitely coming back soon! The food and service was amazing
Food is average to above average depending on what you order. The rolls brought out could be used as weapons , was really surprised how hard they were . Seafood pot for 2 was a large portion with excellent flavor but the crab Mac and cheese was the show stopper for me it was amazing.
Mix drinks were strong and flavorful . Our service as perfect , she made our evening very enjoyable .
Waaaaay overpriced for the tiny portions. Food was not quality at all. Salad was about the same as you could get at the Burger King drive through.
My first experience at the Spindletop restaurant. Beautiful location. Food was exceptional. Our waiter was excellent and very attentive. Far exceeded my expectations.
We’ve been to Spindletop a few times for various occSions and we have enjoyed it every time!
Lamb is amazing. Crab cakes awesome.
Great experience great ambiance! I went to celebrate my fiance 30th birthday and she loved it
The food is very poor quality & way over priced. I brought my wife for our wedding anniversary & was very disappointed. I Don’t understand how a place like this would have such bad QC over the food. Bottom line apparently is charging the consumer top dollar for bottom of the barrel food. I will never go back & will only tell people not to waste their money.
There were six of us and they put two tables together so we could be right on the window for spectacular view. I don’t know the name of our excellent server but she couldn’t have been better. She did everything to accommodate my 6 year old grandson. The food was wonderful- pear salad and crab cake, halibut were delicious. They really made it special for the birthday occasion too. Will definitely go back.
It was amazing, wish they had quicker response to drinks and food. Wish they had a little more info on the food as well.
Great atmosphere ...great staff...thanks for making our night special...
It was amazing I would definitely go there again and recommend it the atmosphere is amazing and so are the people
Food was terrible. I dined at various expensive restaurants with entrees priced in $40 range. This food by far was the worst.
I ordered a lamb shank. It was dry and smells. Aspagargus and beans provided didn't have any flavor.I didn't finish my entree.
For appetizers we ordered BBQ shrimp. We got 5 shrimps served on stoneground grits. No peppers were added as described on the menu. Shrimp tasted average but grits was terrible.
Only good food was gulf coast snapper which my wife ordered.
Service was okay. Waiter was kind to get us a complimentary cheesecake as it was our anniversary.
The only reason I didn't complain to the waiter was because of my anniversary.
The restaurant itself was and has always been very elegant and aesthetically pleasing! The atmosphere was nice and very comfortable.
My only complaints are about the service. It took a good while for our waiter to show up. We were not offered bread n butter for the wait. And we never once was asked for our drinks to be refilled.
Lastly, for the price that I paid, the food was not worth it! Heck, I've cooked better chicken at hm.
It was my first time there, hostess was friendly, service and food was great.
Me and my partner celebrated our 7th anniversary and my birthday at Spindletop on Saturday March 16, and were blown away by EVERYTHING! Arelly made sure we had the best experience. We highly recommend the Avacado Dome, Salmon, Halibut and the Tres Leches Cheesecake. Ask for Arelly to be your server!!!
Tracy was very great server. The food was okay but the atmosphere is beautiful.
I made the reservation for a Birthday dinner. Told the host it was a birthday dinner. Also told the waiter it was my daughters birthday dinner. Spindletop did not do anything for her while the table next to us, who was seated after us, was treated to a song and dessert with a candle. My daughter and family are still extremely upset. Very disappointed in our server Mario and the host for not making a big deal for our celebration after asking if it was a special occasion. Not worth it.
But the food is not that great. For such a nice restaurant it would be nice if the food was better - none of the plates were very hot - tasted like they were left out for a while and I had the lamb shank it was not good. They barely have anything nice for kids.
Although the staff was very polite and professional, Ms. Lois was phoneminal! ❤️
We had a reservation and were promptly greeted by hotel and restaurant host - all were very friendly, professional and helpful. Ms. Lois also quickly greeted us at the table, gave a brief overview of the restaurant and menu, and gained insight into our preferred tastes, favorites, and potential food allergies. The speed and professionalism of valet staff, ambiance of the setting and amazing views, craft of our drinks, quality and taste of our appetizer and dinner selections, and Ms. Lois' friendliness, exceptionally pleasant demeanor, and familiarity with the menu, all combined for a very special and memorable birthday evening for my daughter.
Now a city favorite!
We'll see you all again very soon!
This place is overrated. The food isn’t good and overpriced. The restaurant looks nice. Service was terrible too.
Had a great dinner, and food was amazing definitely will be back
Someone was hacking/coughing horribly in the kitchen. Everything was covered in a terrible gravy sauce and the food tasted like a slight upgrade from hospital food. Not worth the money.
Place is outdated. It looks like a setting for that 70s show. Food and drinks were not good quality.
Amazing view, very elegant ambiance. Food is not equally valued. Flat savors, very common textures, nothing surprising. Smoked salmon carpaccio and artisan cheese board were very good. Seafood pot broth was greasy and flavorless. Lamb shank had nothing outstanding, gristmill texture was unpleasant and tasteless. The crème brulee with a touch of anise is a very good option. Service is regular, nothing careful, and at some point, rude.
