It was our first time here, loved location and ambiance! Food was good also. They are noticeably understaffed, as most places are right now, but they did a great job all things considered! Our server was so busy, but still attentive to us. We will definitely be back!
Great sauce. That says it all when you are going Italian!
We dined on a Sunday night and our party of five was delighted for find an open restaurant somewhat near the Pyramid. Our spinach salads were very good as were the wood-fired pizzas. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. Parking in an adjacent specified lot was perfect!
The food and the service were incredible. Even though the General Manager shared with us that they were short handed, he did not skip a beat in keeping us served and made us feel like we were special customers. The two servers and the GM truly kept the place running which is highly commendable. Please help keep this incredible restaurant in business!
Hostess situation was terrible but we sat outside under pretty lights and had a good hot Italian meal. Our waiter was new and still did a great job. Love the area.
Place was in disrepair - dirt on the floor, cabinets cracked - supplies in clear view. Ambiance was not even minimalist- waiter did not know the bar nor the menu. Our salads arrived with our starter. Entree was bland. Waiter asked if I was done - brought a to-go box - and the check while my wife was still eating. No second cocktail - no coffee - did not know if they had dessert….huge disappointment-it was a special occasion and we had high hopes for a great evening….not worth the money.
Our waitress was not nice - the place was too dark - overall won’t be back
Decent restaurant for a date night. Very casual vibes.
Covid has hit them hard. The calamari was freezer burned and tasted horrible. We left without ordering dinner
Food was mediocre- ordered lasagna and I would have rather ate at fazolis. We were the only people there and had trouble tracking our waitress down.
When we arrived, even though we had a reservation we were not assisted prior to a couple who arrived after us and also in favor of someone who had a to go order to pick up. When we were assisted we were brought to our table the seating was set for 6 even though the reservation was made for 8. Two servers were openly and vocally arguing about not wanting to take our table for 8 which we found very disappointing as they were so loud everyone could hear them. Ultimately we did get a server who appeared to be the bartender (the receipt indicated the server name as "Ghost Bartender") - he did seem to care. My wife ordered a vodka martini but it tasted like water with olives. She politely asked for another one and when it came out that one hardly had any vodka in it at all and tasted funky. The waiter told us that he poured the vodka himself. We know what vodka martinis should taste like so it became clear to us that someone tampered with the bottle of vodka from which we were allegedly served. Our server did not charge us for the martini which was appropriate. Despite the initial issues, the food was excellent. We ordered a plethora of appetizers, salads and entrees and everything was perfect. The only reason we are giving the overall ranking a 3 was due to our initial issues and demeanor from the staff. We believe that Memphis is still struggling with quality labor presumably due to COVID as there was a sign outside of the restaurant that they were hiring and would interview the same day. We think that once the workforce situation improves Spindini will return to a top notch type of restaurant. Again the food was great and we had no complaints there at all.
I'd definitely choose this restaurant again! My wife and I were thoroughly impressed with whole experience. Keep it up Spinsters!
I was so disappointed by this experience. We had come to celebrate my fiancee's new job in April. Clearly, the restaurant was understaffed. We are in a pandemic. Understandable! We ordered the crab cakes. They were good. For dinner, I had the "Herb Roasted Chicken Fettucini" and my fiancee had the veal.
The bartender served us, but a male server delivered our entrees and left the dirty appetizer plates on the table.
The fettucini was atrocious. The sauce was watery and flavorless. It pooled at the bottom of the bowl. The chicken (the 4 pieces that I had) did not have a speck of seasoning. The tomatos included where 3 crudely cut chunks of raw heirloom. I have NEVER sent food back before. But I was not going to pay $17.00 for that. So I waited for someone to stop by and check in on us.
And I waited.
And i waited.
Austin was almost done with his meal by the time the bartender (our server) remembered us. She certainly had enough time to come check on us before. I had watched her take shots with customers while her coworker was working herself to the bone.
She acted surprised when I told her, "No one has ever complained about it before." Really? It was horrific. I could even hear and see her complaining about me loudly to a man who I assume was the manager. He never spoke with us though.
I know COVID has made things difficult. I can appreciate that. But I felt the level of service and quality of food was inexcusable. Save your time and money. You will have a better time somewhere else.
Was a little disappointed normally when you go to an Italian restaurant you get bread for free. It's no longer offered for free.
Booked reservation same day through OpenTable. Upon arrival the manager (owner?) advised they were slow that evening and so closed early and our only option was to get something to go...... Extremely disappointing since we were on vacation and had walked a good distance from our hotel in the freezing cold to get to Spindini..... We then had to walk in the cold to find another restaurant to have dinner.
Our opinion is they didn't even know they had a reservation for that evening... Were very surprised when we walked in... Disappointing as we had heard good things.
I have been a big fan of this restaurant for years, but the last 2 visits were awful. My steak had a smell of cleaning agents and the drinks came waaaaay after the appetizers. Tonight will be my last visit, what a shame
Enjoyed our service and food! Would dine here in again.
The perfect birthday dinner! Great food, wine, and dessert! We will most definitely be back.
Horrible server and food was cold and took forever
Didn’t have the reservation and the host was rude and didn’t seem to care. The food was over cooked and had been sitting in the window for a while.
The food was very good and reasonably priced. I got the manicotti and it had a very nice amount of meat and was cooked perfectly. Chase was great and wasn't too pushy. It was a little louder due to the live music, but he was awesome. Great experience and I will most definitely return.
Our first time here and it was fantastic! parking was great and atmosphere was amazing. Will be back very soon!
Will never be dining there again. They charge you 4% for using a credit card! They say they give you a discount for paying cash but really they charge you extra for using a credit card. They don’t even tell you that, they post it to their receipt and told me it was my fault for not knowing.
This was our first time at Spindini and the food from the kitchen was great. The wait staff is where the problems were. It was easy to see the waitress did not want to be at work. Her only communication with us throughout the meal consisted of "what would you like to drink" followed by "are you ready to order." I know on 2/14/21 the weather was not great. I know it was Valentine's Day but if being part of the wait staff at a restaurant with great food and great drinks then you have to suck it up and make the guest feel special. We order the crab cakes to start but the only issue was they came out after the main course. They had plenty of staff and the restaurant was not full. This was the waitress's error and she acted as if this was just how they do things there. We noticed a few other tables looking around most of their meal as well wondering where their waiter or waitress was and if the food was coming. The meal was presented great and tasted even better. It was just hard to enjoy with the staff issues. I hope next time is a better experience. I would not recommend Spindini at this time just because I would never send a friend to a place unless I knew they would have a great time spending their money there. I hope to have my mind changed in the future.
Cold inside. People kept going in and out the exterior door and the door apparently didn’t shut on its own. It was 18 degrees outside at the time. They tried to turn up the heat but it was still pretty cold inside. Bathrooms were also very cold.
Went for Valentines dinner. We never received our appetizer of Calamari. The entrees and salad were flavorless. We sent everything back. The manager only charged us for our drinks. We made a reservation to Ruth’s Chris while we were still in Spindini. Extremely disappointing experience, especially being that it was not busy. People who sat and ordered after we did were eating before our food came out.
Great place- wanted to try it for awhile. Glad we did!
Wonderful dining experience!
The food portions were smaller than expected for price/value. But the salmon was very good. The pizzas were good. Fettuccine Alfredo ehh. Appetizers very expensive. Charge you more than listed price if you pay with credit card. It is listed on menu at the bottom of back page. Service was slow. Only one waitress, one bar tender and one runner. Music was live and very loud so you could not hear your conversation at all without yelling. And that seemed to frustrate the musician. Wouldn’t go back probably.
Food was ok but not great, and we sat right next to the live music. So we could barely hear each other talk. If you go get the pizza for sure.
They didn’t have dessert or coffee which was odd. My husband’s lasagna was just warm. My eggplant was good. The toasted ravioli was good. It was fine but not spectacular.
Poor value for the price. Service was marginal at best. My date actually said “looks like they have kids running this place.”
Had dinner at Catherine & Mary’s last week, which is another Italian restaurant up the street from Spandini. Food and service were phenomenal. Would recommend above restaurant instead due to service and quality of food.
I hadn’t dined here in quite some time and was truly shocked by how run down it has become. Food was still delicious and service was good, but it’s not nearly as nice as it used to be which was disappointing.
I went for my birthday. Very disappointed! The staff was slow and a bit neglectful, the drinks were extremely weak and the floors were in need of being swept and mopped in some areas. The food was ok but I will not be going back.
I’ve always had great service and food. This visit as well!
Great service and great food. A little pricey, but definitely doable for a special occasion.
I will never go back here because of the bill. The food and service was good . It was a bit weird to have convenience store coolers as you walk in the door of restaurant but these are weird times. The problem came when the server brought me the bill. As I am going to add my tip I read the paragraph below the signature line that is posted in pic. It starts "we offer a 3.9% discount to cash paying customers". That's says to me that I will have a deduction from the price that is listed if I pay with cash but NO! . It then goes on to say "all prices posted, displayed and or quoted in this business represent a cash discount price. Customers who do not pay with cash will have their purchase adjusted at the time of sale". Never was I told this or did I read this anywhere. Felt like it was a bit of bait and switch. Asked server about it and they apologized for it. admitted other customers have complained and said they wouldnt come back. Affecting servers' tips as well. Make sure everyone knows the prices listed are cash price. I currently have almost 10000 points so you know we eat out a good amount but I have never encountered this before !
Every item ordered was a HIT - absolutely stunning from start to finish!
