Spigola Ristorante Vino e Cucina Ratings and Reviews
Husband had sea bass special - grit in the vegetables
I had eggplant rolatini dinner - delicious, but I would have preferred fewer rolatini , the addition of some veggies, and the pasta on the same plate. Plating was more diner-ish and not what you expect for fine dining
This was my 2nd time here. This place is very pretty and it's good for out of town guests staying in the area. It does get very noisy as soon as the restaurant fills up but it can easily accommodate large groups. Oysters on the half shell were fresh. The tomato Caprese salad wasn't worth the price. Neither tomatoes nor mozzarella should ever be served ice cold. It looked pretty but had little flavor. The rigatoni Bolognese was nice. Rigatoni perfectly al dente lightly coated in tasty and slightly spicy sauce with plenty of meat. My dining companion liked the herb-infused ricotta served on top. The pork chop Giambotta offered the best & worst of our meal. The chop itself was cooked to absolute perfection & seasoned nicely. The accompaniments were worthless. Translucent onions with no color should not be described as caramelized on the menu. The gnocchi were not good. They didn't taste like potato at all. Almost like eating bay scallop-sized sautéed bread lumps. The tiramisu was rich but had no coffee flavor. My dining companion was not impressed with our server since she did not offer him a refill of coffee but presented the check and walked away. I know I'm being extremely critical but for these prices, everything on the plate should be well prepared and flavorful and not just look pretty.
Spigola's is a staple for our family. Over the years, we have had baby shower's, spur of the moment dinners, as well as the "special occasion" events. What makes this place great is that you get the ambiance and food quality of a NY or PHily hi end eatery without the travel and prices.
Do yourself a favor and try it. You won't be disappointed and you'll have found your go to place!
Poor service....one waiter brought our drinks, hurried away and never returned
. We snagged a second waiter to take our order. We ordered one pasta, three flatbreads and two appetizers. All six dishes arrived simultaneously creating a hugely crowded table. Flatbread was soggy.
Food was okay, had the New Years Eve surf and turf. Besides NYC pricing, it only came with the surf and turn. No sides! I could have asked the waiter but didn't see him again until I was done with the meal, if you can call it that. Service was horrible and waiter did say he was sorry. I did ask the manager and the lack of sides and he was nice and said I could have gotten something if I asked. Great, too late for that, he did provide us with free desert after I asked.
Ordered the meat and cheese board sampler. It was delicious fresh meats and cheeses and plentiful for two people. Highly recommend. I had the mussels in white broth. Not great. I've had much better. We had the eggplant rollotini it was a good appetizer portion. There was a private party so our waiter was very busy with them and there were very large gaps of time on our service.
Classic Italian fare with a stylish decor. There was a large group in the semi-private room behind us, but it was still quiet enough for us to have a good conversation. Great specials that half our of party took advantage of. We've been several times, and will probably come back once or twice a year.
We did not have a great experience at Spigola. We arrived for our reservation at 7:00pm and were seated promptly. Our server arrived took drink order and came back fairly quickly and then took our order. Then we waited a long time for our appetizer and when my husband lamb lollipops arrived they were raw inside. Sent them back! Next course, our salads took another hour and I had to remind the server that we never got them. Our entrees took another hour. So from the time we sat down until we got our entrees was 2 hours and 45 minutes. At that rate they should of comped a round of drinks or desert. It's very frustrating when the table next to you turns over 2 times and you still don't have your entrees.
Spigola is an expensive restaurant and it was highly recommended but we will never go back. The food was good but in that price range the food should wow you, which it did not.
What a wonderful evening. Spigola never disappoints. Service is always top shelf. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The duck special was excellent. The sea bass is always delicious. This is a truly great restaurant. You won't find a better fine dining experience outside of NY or Philly.
We took our friends here It was there first visit It is now there favorite ! Cavatelli with Brocoli Raab and sausage was amazing as was the Seafood Risotto The Chicken Parm also was fabulous !! Excellent service too We stopped for a drink at the Bar before dinner and my favorite bartender was there She is Terrific !!!
We had not been to spigola in a while and the food was excellent and our server Luigi was very attentive and a good server. The cook they have there now is excellent and their prices are not as high as they used to be. All of our meals were very good--the only negative was my brother in law ordered the chicken caccitore and it was boneless--we had never seen that before and he was not thrilled and in fairness, it may have said that underneath, he does not recall. Everything else was excellent.
First timers, and we all enjoyed the meal. The service was good. On Saturday night they have entertainment. The place is large enough so the band does not interfere with the conversations at the table. Over all it was a nice time for all & we will go back again.
I go this this restaurant about once a month either for happy hour with food or a dinner get together.
All the pasta is handmade and the food is always fresh and cooked to order (no frozen meats).
I love to get the oysters at happy hour and last time I went there I had the chicken parmigiana dinner which is the best I have ever had. I have also had other fish dishes and steaks there also very good!
If you like Italian food this is a great place anyone would love and they also have a great bar . This restaurant is also good for large parties with family and friends, a local favorite for me. Note-Everything is a la carte pretty much.
The food is good, but overpriced. $38 for linguini, clams, mussels, a couple of shrimp and scallops is a tad high. $45 for a well prepared but not very big filet mignon is also a bit steep. This place charges like NYC while residing in a strip mall in Hamilton. The wait staff is very good, though. If you've got a special occasion and you don't mind the hit to the wallet, it's not bad.
