It is conveniently located in the Rockville Town Square, with ample parking and easy accessibility by Metro.
The food was delicious as usual. We had prompt attention from our server and our meal was out of the kitchen really quickly. This was what we have come to expect here even when we are not the last ones in the restaurant like this time.
I haven't been to Spice Xing in years, and after this experience I probably won't be coming back any time soon. We had a late family dinner at a time when there were very few diners in the restaurant. Yet despite there being more staff than customers, service was painfully slow and we had to ask for items repeatedly. The food itself was fairly good. Among our appetizers both the baby dosa and chili cheese toast were quite good. The lamb chop was also a hit. The main courses were a mixed bag with the salmon tandoor coming out somewhat dry and the butter chicken getting a thumbs down from our daughter. The dinner took so long with the slow service that we didn't have time to stay for dessert.
Consistently excellent food and service.
Food was quite good and service very attentive. Chicken Marsala was nicely spiced, accompanying salad had a tasty subtle dressing. The prawn dish seemed to have shrimp that didn't quite reach the size one expects of prawns but had lots of flavor. Garlic naan was near perfect; one could actually taste the garlic, unlike some Indian restaurants that just wave the garlic over the naan leaving one to imagine the garlic flavor.
Mediocre service. ordered drinks. Finished them, waiter never came and offered another round. Were waiting for 30 minutes and had to waive our hands to get her attention.
Same goes for food -someone dumped our dishes in front of us ; waitress never bothered to come and check whether all is good.
Took my mother in law here for Mother’s Day. It was a hike, given we live in Arlington, and we had our fingers crossed. Came away really impressed. We ordered a number of dishes and most were as close to authentic recipes; the only exception being the Konkan shrimp curry. The goat curry (not on the menu), the daal, baked fish will bring us back here for more. Most Indian restaurants have a couple of mother curries that they just dress up and serve as different dishes; we’ve learnt to accept that there is Indian food and then there is restaurant-style Indian food. Glad to run into Spice XING with much higher standards!
I loved the relaxed feel of this place and the decor is beautiful. The part I didn’t like is the food is very bland to my taste.
Celebrating. 2 Birthdays and it couldn’t have been a nicer experience. Good food, good service, great restaurant. One of our favorites.
Food was very disappointing!!butter chicken was too bad not at all tasted the way it was before.
We were very pleased with the service, menu selection and our menu choices.
Delicious as usual. The staff is quite attentive and friendly. One of our go to places for sure.
Need to confess at the outset that I don't love Indian food but was with a group and wasn't going to be a wet blanket. Was an unusually quiet Saturday night at SX and maybe that contributed to the underwhelming experience. Food around the table was good - it always is - though my seafood something or other in a creamy/white sauce was underwhelming and bland - but the service was indifferent. No one checked in on us after entrees were delivered, drink refills (other than water pouring) weren't offered, and the staff almost to a person didn't look happy to be there. If you want Indian food before your movie in Rockville, this is the stop but the overall experience would not make it a destination for me.
Good food and usually good service. At last visit, although not crowded there was a bit of a wait for drinks and first contact with server.
Nice that GF options are clearly marked
I loved the decor. Service was sparse. Our server would disappear for long spells.
Major complaint......very few white meat chicken options. All the dishes that interested me did not come with white meat. And couldn’t substitute. I had to order 2 appetizers that were what I wanted.
Lime cocktail was perfect!
Parking is difficult around the area.
My wife and I enjoyed the valentines day special (food), service, and environment.
We will be back!
The lunch was really tasty, the ambiance was nice, quiet and smart !
The food was absolutely amazing!!! Will definitely be back and recommend to friends.
The atmosphere was more like Chuck E Cheese than a nice restaurant. There were only two other tables dining, and it’s no surprise if they let out-of-control kids run among the tables, shrilly shrieking at the top of their lungs like they did when we were there. Upon asking the waitress if the parents could stop the child from disrupting others’ ‘dining experience, we were told “they were regulars.” Food was average and service highly lacking. Needless to say, we won’t be returning.
Food was great! Service needs lots of work.
My wife and I moved to Rockville recently and lost our ability to order from Passage to India in Bethesda, which is our favorite Indian food in the area. Fortunately, Spice Xing has the same owners and virtually the same menu. We went on Saturday before a movie and were not disappointed. The Tikka Masala is the same recipe and best in the city in my opinion, even compared to high-priced (and super delicious) options like Rasika. If you haven't been to Passage to India or Spice Xing and you love Indian food, I couldn't recommend them more.
Prawn dish made with quite small shrimp, sauce tasty. Mixed vegetables in cream sauce very good but could have had more spice. Potato in crepe appetizer was good.
Service and food was good. Nice location steps from Town Center.
Good food. Friendly service.
This is our favorite Indian restaurant in Montgomery County, after having tried about a dozen. The staff is friendly and attentive, but the focus is on the food. It's always rich and flavorful, creative, and very satisfying. Now that I am vegan, it's even better because there are so many vegan choices as well.
Great vegan options on the buffet and the regular menu. Was not crowded on a Sunday Afternoon, which was perfect. We will go back for sure. I am already craving the veggie dish I had
Passage to India is a nicer restaurant with a more varied menu, but the food was delicious and the service was great
Food is exceptional. This is our second visit and again the entrees were not just good but fascinating.
We had a really nice time. Had a couple preparations that I've not seen on menus before.
Had an anniversary dinner. The food tasted great. Even though we often bring leftovers home, the food was so good there was nothing left.
Good buffet, $30... not sure totally worth the price, but variety was nice.
The restaurant is very nice inside and the happy hour pours and prices are good. However, the food was quite bland and lackluster. Not bad food but just kind of "meh".
food was just average. Couple of dishes on the saltier side
Watered down version of classic indian cooking.
Slightly overpriced and not a value play.
Spice Xing is consistently warm and friendly with excellent dinner options for a variety of tastes. The friendly wait staff show the perfect blend of helpfulness but not overbearing. Our personal favorite drink is the mango lassi, which pairs deliciously with the spicy chicken. We highly recommend this restaurant!
Nicely varied Indian menu, with choices to suit all palates. We went on a weekday evening, and we were surprised to discover that the restaurant was virtually empty. In all the time we were there, only one other party came in to dine, so the high reviews about ambiance and noise level may not be operative when the restaurant is busier. Prices seemed a bit on the high side for what was furnished, though not so high that we wouldn't choose to return.
Food was quite delicious.
Authentic Indian food in a relaxed casual atmosphere. The service was excellent, the food was spicy but delicious.
The food was very good and very consistent with previous visits.
This is a special find! We love all Indian Food choices and the ambiance here is unique and special. You can have a conversation easily, yet it is a "hot spot". The décor is comfortable, elegant and always calls for comment by new people we bring here. It is a beautiful setting~!
We had three vegans with us, and they had lots of options and enjoyed their dinners immensely! Tried a "new to me" Indian dish of Lamb with beet and pomegranate juice, Khandari Lamb. VERY DELICIOUS and beautifully presented.
We had to make a 7pm movie and the wait staff was very accommodating for us.
Looking forward to going back soon!
