Spice Symphony – 50th St. Ratings and Reviews
The food was beyond expectations.
Delicious. Fresh. I continue to think about it, it was so good! Ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala and Saag Paneer. The basmati rice was flavorful and delicious, and while I am gluten free my friend ordered the garlic naan and loved it.
The staff was very knowledgeable and attentive to both myself and my guest.
We will definitely go back.
The food was very good, but not quite as "exceptional" as I was expecting for a restaurant ranked # 16 in all of NYC by Trip Advisor.
Service was attentive but aloof...
My overall rating was based primarily on the quality of the food (and drinks).
I'd go back, but there are many other places that I would try first.
Spice Symphony was an amazing experience for a date night. The food was very authentic Indian cuisine. I would definitely recommend the Chicken Tikka Masala and the Chicken Tandoori. The waiters were very attentive and catered to whatever you needed, i.e. had something made for us when it wasn't on the menu. The environment of the restaurant was subtle and romantic, which gave a very relaxed vibe. I would recommend this place over and over again to anyone who is in the mood for authentic Indian food.
Decided to dine at Spice Symphony with my 2 grown up children after reading several favorable reviews for this popular East Side Indian restaurant. Happy to say it did not disappoint. The menu includes some standards and quite a few unusual offerings, including a selection of what they call "Chinese/Indian" dishes. All of the appetizers and main courses we ordered were very tasty, well prepared and appropriately spiced. The service was friendly and accommodating, even on a very busy Saturday night. The wine selection was well selected for this cuisine and reasonably priced. This was our first visit, and we will be back.
The food was good, but the operations were shabby. They made us wait till 8:20 for a reservation at 8, and hid behind the excuse that "it was a last minute reservation".
We made it at 6:15, and isn't a last minute reservation still a reservation? Why have the slot available on OpenTable then?
Overall operations were shabby: Two 4 person tables were joined together for our group of 7, but they were of uneven height. Lots of other people were complaining about reservation timings not being honored.
Employees were hospitable and accommodating. Good choice of wines (and other specialty drinks). The food was absolutely delicious. Try the butternut squash soup. It was my appetizer; I shared it with my dining companions, and they ordered their own! We packed a couple of orders to bring home as well - that good! The Chicken Vindaloo was superb - appropriately tender and deliciously spicy! I look forward to returning.
While attached to a hotel, this is no hotel resturant -- the service was excellent, with helpful comments about the dishes (and the spice level) -- the food quite good (tempura spinach -- who would have thought it?). Definitely on our cycle -- we will be back.
My daughter and I saw positive reviews and thought the Indian - Chinese menu looked interesting. We booked through Open Table and we arrived 1/2 hr early and they still seated us quickly. Not many people there at 6pm but was full when we left. Loved the tikki masala, garlic naan and general pso's chicken! The service was great and friendly. I would definitely recommend!
Savory and scrumptious! A symphony of flavors! From beginning to end, the service, food and experience were worth the trip from Connecticut! They even surprised us at the end of our fabulous meal with a custard cake to celebrate our son's birthday! I have recommended Spice Symphony to my friends and am confident that from casual chic to sophisticated diner, all will love their experience as we did here!
My friends and I had an AMAZINGG experience here! The staff was really nice, considerate, and welcoming. While we were waiting for our food, we were welcomed with a complimentary appetizer from the chef. On top of that, the food we ordered was amazing and as we were leaving, everyone took the effort to personally say goodbye. One of my favorite restaurants in NYC!
First impression was not good as the beginner hostess told us to be seated to wait, even though we arrived on time for reservation. But 5 mins later we heard the boss explaining to her that reservations didn't wait, only walk ins. So he then seated us promptly - good since we were about to go somewhere else. All was great thereafter, and the food delicious as always. And lots of it.
We are faily sophisticated eaters so bear this in mind. Service was excellent and it was a pleasant place to be. The food was good. Had aloo gobi and fish. Both solid. A little on the pricy side but that is manhattan. Did not have the multiple layers of taste present in the very best indian food. But still good.
