Some of the best food in Henley
They were able to accept a party of 6 at short notice and made us feel very welcome
Absolutely lovely food - so yummy; I cannot recommend the food here enough. The staff are so lovely too; always checking we had everything we needed. Had a lovely evening and will definitely be back. We had two taster menus and various other dishes - so delicious! Definitely recommended ::))
Wonderful position by the river in Henley, food excellent, service discreet and very efficient.
I will return as soon as possible!
The food here is really delicious, but the service is sooo slow! We had our 7yo with us and really it should have been a lot quicker. We were either alone or with only one other table the whole time. Last time we went it was busier and we had 3 young kids, but still the service was painfully slow. Please improve this.
It was great
A very imaginative menu and beautifully presented dishes.
Excellent food, when we visited it was still in lockdown so 'outside' , definitely a cut above other Indian restaurants in terms of food quality and variety of flavour, expensive but worth it
The description about open air could have been better. The food was really good though
Outside seating area worked well. There is a heater but wrap up warm.
Delicious food - lovely service will absolutely be back
Noisy rude fellow diners
Portion sizes mixed making ordering a bit of a lottery
Maybe one for the rugby drinking crowd.....
Tikka masala and butter chicken tasted like a jar of sugar had been poured into it. Sickly sweet!
Lovely meal and chatty service. Had great madras and butter chicken with sag aloo. Well done
The food was absolutely delicious and the servicer we had was quite polite and attentive.
Good set up food and service
The food was amazing! We will definitely go again. Lovely to sit and eat and see the river as well
Father Christmas which was great
A pop-up songstress; an excellent meal - prawns with aubergines highly recommended; social distancing but still convivial. Very good - especially in the circumstances.
Excellent as always
Great service good atmosphere and ambience with some lovely red Poinsettias to brighten the mood and give a Christmas feeling.
Food was excellent as always and we were well looked after by the staff.
Looking forward to our next visit.
Thank you very much
Excellent food and service as always and lovely setting
Always excellent food, beautifully cooked. Prompt and efficient service without being intrusive, plus a view of the Thames
Great meal, good service and high-quality food. Recommended but not great value.
Very lovely food and staff
Great meal and the staff were very responsible with regard to Covid so made the evening very enjoyable.
A trusty favourite in Henley. Truly delicious Indian cuisine served in a friendly fashion
Some good and original choices prepared and served well. Prices are expensive
Really nice restaurant, very spacious; so no issues for social distancing.
Attentive service but the most expensive curry I have EVER had!
2 pints of Cobra, 4 Popadoms, 1 Chicken Tikka Masala, 1 Chicken Madras, 1 Mushroom rice & 1 pilau rice = £61.48 !!! Wow
Great service they were really helpful with my son and his friends
Seriously tasty food, went for the Lamb Vindaloo and great amount of spice. Also, biggest onion bhaji I have ever seen and also very tasty. Drinks not great but not going there for fancy cocktails. Really enjoyed it!
I booked Spice Merchant purely based on location, while my wife and I stayed at the Red Lion Hotel on the same street. I can say that the food and service was second to none, and my wife (born in India) said it was the best food she had ever tasted outside of India!
The ambience was very nice, all staff attentive and the owner/manager also spoke to us in a warm manner.
The only reason for not giving full marks is because the price of a bottle of red wine was a bit steep, at £24 for house red!
Not a reason to not go for a visit and we would certainly go again if and when in Henley.
Lovely meal in difficult times during Covid but they handled it well and I’d recommend it fully
Fabulous very well organised and socially distanced
Highly recommend the Indian twist on the classic afternoon tea. Great food, lovely service. Can’t fault it really. Will definitely go back
Great welcome, attentive staff and really good food. We will be back soon.
Haven’t been since out of lockdown but wow! Well worth the wait! We had a superb meal and the service was top class. I had the monkfish curry and my husband had Chicken Razzala as our main, and the chicken lollipop and lamb chops to start. The food here is a different class from your usual curry house and the prices reflect that.
A real treat....thank you so much.
I highly recommend eating here
We regularly eat Indian food and I truly believe that the food at The Spice Merchant is exceptional. The food was Fresh and served in a timely polite manner.
the food is superb, the service is very good - very expensive but worth it for a special occasion. Will definitely visit again.
As usual the standard of food and service was exceptional but why has this restaurant put its wine prices up so high? A meal here with wine propels the bill into special occasion territory. Please Spice Merchant have a couple of bottles of house wine on the menu.
Had a wonderful evening celebrating a birthday, the food was amazing as was the wine. Not the cheapest place but you get what you pay for!
Very expensive for an average Indian ,40 quid for a bottle of wine ,onion Barjy xl large was very nice , very nice inside it was half full with people on August bank holiday, over all average but very pricey
