The three hostesses were extremely rude and ignored me as I patiently waited for about five minutes before they checked me in. We then waited another 20 minutes for our table even with a reservation. When the runner took us to our table, it had not yet been cleared from the last customers, so we had to wait another 10 minutes with only a lukewarm apology.

Our served acted like she didn't have time for us either.

Not sure if this was because the restaurant was closing the day after and the staff just didn't care anymore or the other way around.

Beautiful restaurant with a lot of ambience and great food.

So sad this had to be our last meal here. Hope they find a new place and can open again. Will miss their blend of exotic, spicy flavors!

I can't believe that was my last meal at Spice Market. I hope this restaurant finds a new space and reopens soon. I have enjoyed some special occasions and made some great memories at Spice Market, it is one of my favorite places in the city. The Duck Curry is to die for. Everything on the menu is delicious, I wish I had a chance to try it all over the years, but that's what kept me coming back. I will miss the open doors in the front with the breeze in the summer, and having cozy meals in the downstairs floor.

I will truly miss this place and was hoping to eat the short rib with noodles, but alas it was removed from the menu. Well, it's come to an end!!! It was great while it lasted.

I love this restaurant and am sad it's closing this week. I've spent client dinners here with colleagues on two occasions and was treated well and served amazing food. On another two occasions I came to celebrate my anniversary. I will miss this place.

this restaurant is closing soon due to the landlord. It has always been my "go to" for something different and interesting yet amicable to anyone's pallet in the meat packing district. The food was delicious as always but it seems the wait staff already has their foot out the door. We spent more time looking for our waiter than anything. We waited over 20 minutes for dessert then had to track someone down to pay the bill. I have never had such poor service there.

This restaurant is closing in s few days. There was a limited menu and the food wasn't that good. The service was practically non-existent. They were all standing around but not paying attention to customers. Disappointed that this was my last experience with them.

Lovely venue where we also had a romantic Valentine dinner and wanted to get back one more time prior to closing. It was a lovely day so having the windows flung open made it very pleasant. The food was delicious especially the lobster summer roll (though extremely pricey at $19). My husband greatly enjoyed the striped bass which was a generous serving and my steamed lobster was also excellent but the cost of $44 didn't seem commensurate with the very tiny portion. We were also surprised that $4 was added to the price of each of our entrees (increasing the price of small lobster dinner to $48!) because the coconut rice was added to each of our meals without the waiter mentioning it first. Though scrumptious and not to be missed calorie-wise we wold have liked to have the choice to order and split one serving. Still overall a very enjoyable experience and look forward to an opening in a new location.

i have been to Spice Market a few times over the years and had always found it to be really great - interesting and unusual food that was quite tasty. Pricey but worth it. This time it was incredibly disappointing. we tried different types of appetizers and entrees and enjoyed none of it. it just was not as tasty and flavorful as in the past. the food was either excessively spicy in a way that was not appealing or very bland

It was very good, tasty and friendly. Was very pity to learn they will close soon.

Spice Market used to be my favorite restaurant in NYC but my last visit was disappointing. The food is great, but everything else was subpar We were given the worst table in the entire restaurant with bright lights shining on us from the open kitchen. The music was so loud we had to yell at each other and could barely have any conversation. Our server simply disappeared halfway through our dinner without telling us anything. Nor did another server come introduce him or herself, we were left there hanging although we'd ordered tasting menus for the entire table and a bottle of wine. I really wanted a coffee with my dessert but no one came to check on us and the check was thrown on our table without asking if we cared for anything else. We were there for a special occasion that was supposed to be a memorable evening but it ended up being really disappointing.

HORRIBLE- Our reservation was for 9:15pm on a Saturday night- party of 2 to set the scene..
First off we asked the waiter if the Spicy Slaw Salad was extremely spicy or just a little bit spicy- the waiter said it was "just a little spicy". The Salad was inedible.
I brought an out of town guest from Canada here as a special birthday dinner and I received my meal first.. we waited about 15 minutes and she never received her meal. We were looking around, also with empty drinks, and the managers and waiters just seemed to walk past us intentionally not looking at us. When I finally flagged down another waiter to get a manager, the manager, a tall man with a french accent came over and I explained the situation... that I was upset that my food was now cold and my guest never got her meal. Without a word, the manager rolled his eyes and snatched my food away from me and threw it in a near by bin at a station...we asked for the check. We waited another 15 minutes (with empty drinks) and the manager, nor waiter came back with any type of solution.. let alone the check! We ended up getting up and the manager was standing right next to us.. we walked out of the restaurant, of course left cash on the table for the small amount of service we did receive.. and we left. I will never return here again or recommend this restaurant to anyone. I work in NYC and dine out frequently as many of my friends work in the media/food industry- I will certainly be letting them know about this experience also. SO completely unprofessional and rude. Totally disgusted.

Spice Market had a beautiful interior, well decorated, but poorly lit. I had to use a flashlight to read the menu. The food was interesting, although all the dishes lacked flavor and taste. Everything was understated and slightly bland. For a place called Spice Market, the use of spices was a little minimalistic.

Sorry to see it close!

Used to be one of my favorite restaurants, but sadly no longer is. Food is still great, however the ambiance and service has suffered. Music was so loud that you could barely hear the person across from you. Choice of music was also scattered and irrelevant to the theme of the restaurant. Lighting is dim to the point where you need a flashlight to see the menu! Wasn't like this before. Also the service was very slow and our server even forgot to change our plates between courses! She came by the table maybe twice throughout our meal and wasn't the least bit accommodating. Might give it one more shot due to the food. Hopefully things change.

Spice Market has very cool decor, the location is great and most (not all) of the dishes were good. However, the wait staff was cranky and it's easily the LOUDEST restaurant, by far, we've ever been to. Not sure what Spice Market is trying to accomplish, but club/concert volume music blaring at 91dB to 96dB+ (measured by my iPhone SPL Meter App) made it nearly impossible to have any sort of conversation or communicate with the wait staff. We ended up communicating with our waitress via text (her suggestion) just to place our orders.

We love music, concerts and clubs - and love music in restaurants so long as you can reasonably carry on some sort of verbal communication. Needless to say, the music volume is a huge distraction for what otherwise could have been a good meal. Upon leaving, our ears were actually ringing a bit - no wonder the wait staff is cranky being subjected to that for long periods. BTW - the staff's exposure to that kind of volume for hours on end can actually damage their hearing. Something the restaurant management might want to take note of.

Spice Market is the kind of place that with one simple adjustment, we'd like to come back to given the unique food and decor. However, I doubt we will return for another experience like the first one.

I wanted to try the Spice Market because a friend mentioned it was one of their favorite in the city and when I saw it would be closing at this location it was perfect opportunity!
If this same flair and ambiance can be captured at the new venue, I will be back.
The only thing that I didn't like and was quite perplexing was how the food came out to the table. Although the waitress said things wouldn't come out together I didn't expect the discontinuity of it all. We never received 2 orders of rice and I never received my second drink!
I am a lacto-pesco-tarian and felt completely satisfied with my meal choices.
Appetizer: CRISPY MUSHROOM EGG ROLLS
Soup: Tried the broth of CHICKEN AND COCONUT MILK SOUP and sampled the SHRIMP DUMPLINGS
Entree:STRIPED BASS
Side: GINGER FRIED RICE
Everything was delicious! Flavorful and aromatic. Everything came out hot and the presentation was nice.
I love the entryway to the lower level and the light fixtures.I thought the main level bar was unique and wanted to ask someone to get up so I could take a picture there( I didn't! LOL)

The chicken samosas are the best!

Went to say goodbye to a great ol' restaurant. JG is THE BEST of all the NYC Chefs.

The restaurant was t very packed during the hour we were there but the food took forever to come out. My main dish arrived 20 minutes before my friends and by the time she got hers my food was cold.

Love the place, always when we are in NY, it's on our to do list

We were devastated when we read of the closing as we have been going to Spice Market for many years, so decided to go for a last Hurrah dinner. The restaurant never disappoints-fabulous food and service and the space itself is a design spectacular. Hopefully, Jean-Georges will find a new location. Soon.

We were actively ignored by our server who did nothing for us that night. Whilst we tried to get his attention to order, he chose instead to speak with his colleagues and do anything to avoid actually working. He decided to bring our meal and drinks to us when it suited him rather than when we asked for them. More than a few times, he had to double check our order again with us, which was a good 15 minutes after we had requested our meal/drink, so he could do his job and put it through the till. Most of the night was spent waiting. I also had other servers spill water all over me due to their incompetence and then never come back to clean the table/me up. I also had servers try to take away a dish when we clearly had just started eating it. Absolutely disgusting service, especially for the price. Do not go here when there are much better places in New York!

honestly horrible experience, they ask you if you have allergies which is great but I personally do not eat pork for religious reasons so obviously i will not get anything with pork & i will not tell them that i am allergic to pork when i just dont eat it. so i ordered the lobster spring roll and there was some sort of jelly i had a bite and asked what the jelly was and they said: "its a very special jelly made out of pork bones" people might say well gelatine is made out of pork bones but it wasn't even written in their menu under the description of the product. food was really mediocre, i dont think i would go back. sad because its in a cool area and has a cool vibe

We arrived at 10 o'clock at saturday night. The place was crowded and the music extremely loud. We could barely hear what the waiter was saying and we had to yell to each other. When our meal came, they only brought one plate to my boyfriend. Half an hour later I've got mine. No compensantions for it. I would never recommend this for a date night!
