Good food, great service and great ambiance. Would highly recommend Spiaggia for any special occasion or a classy date night.
4 year anniversary
The last time I dined at Spiaggia was 4 years ago, before the remodel and while the "jackets required" rule still existed. This visit seemed like I was dining at an entirely different restaurant. All the things I loved most were gone: the formal dress with big comfy seats, the lovely bread service and dedicated water server.
Whoever was in charge of the finishing salt was very heavy handed; I'd say 5/6 dishes were too salty. Overall, everything was fine and Spiaggia is blending well into the average dining scene. But when you spend $300+ dinner for two at a Tony Montano restaurant, you expect more.
It was good, but did not live up to the name. Service and ambiance was impeccable, as was the wine list. My fiancé and I ordered the 8 course tasting menu, and while each dish was fine, the price point per person was far too high for what we were given. Most dishes were what you would find at other decent Italian places in Chicago. Also, most of the dishes were too salty and the salmon was under cooked. Three pasta dishes on an 8 course menu led to us being full by the fifth dish. We struggled to make it through dessert. Glad we went, but would not go again at those prices.
We had a great dining experience at Spiaggia. The wait staff was incredibly hospitable and gracious. Everything we ate and drank was phenomenal. The ambiance was great too, can't be the location on Michigan Ave.
Everything was once again wonderful. However, the lamb chop was disappointing. It had too much fat on it. We eat here whenever we visit Chicago. We will continue to do so.
The Italian food was a bit too creative for us. Minimal selection. The Scallops appetizer was very tasty, but small. The pasta was under-cooked, unless that is what the chef is going for. The Veal chop was good, flavorful, but small, and a bit fatty.
The banana dessert was lost on us. Unusual presentation, and we did not enjoy the taste combination. Wine list is extensive, but pricey.
Service stood out, as it was attentive and friendly. Nice window view.
I am sure a more sophisticated palate may appreciate the cuisine.
My husband and I used to eat here when we lived in Chicago from 1995 to 1998 and this was our first time back. The decor has been redone and it was beautiful, and the cuisine was top notch. I arrived very hungry and my only gripe was that it took a while to get the bread! But I would highly recommend for a special occasion or date night if you’re looking for delicious cuisine and a beautiful atmosphere!
A special occasion dining spot as it is very expensive.
Enjoyed most dishes, but not others.
Probably will not return any time soon, however.
May try the Cafe next time.

Fun experience. Food was good but not amazing
We loved our meal, except I had asked for a special birthday dessert for my mom. I was told she would receive a card. That didn’t happen. I was also told she would get a really special dessert.... well, it was a pumpkin spice dessert with a single candle. No creative writing on the plate, etc. then, we had asked for our leftovers, but were never given them. By the time we left, we had forgotten & no one reminded us. It was overall a nice evening, I was just hoping for a touch more.
Slow and enjoyable
The dishes were perfect temperature. (one of the things I like least is when a dish is so hot you can't taste it)
The scallops, though small, were cooked to a tender perfection. So enjoyable.
The music was a little too loud and modern for the classiness of the restaurant. I would have enjoyed Dean Martin at a lower volume. (personal preference)
Amazing food and wine chefs dinner. White truffles. Bill was very very high. Didn’t know the prices. Until check came 1200 for 2 ppl?

Impeccable from top to bottom: service, food, and ambiance. It’s not very often one can describe Italian food as surprising, but there were flavors and combinations that were truly surprising and exciting. Everything was clearly prepared with the highest quality ingredients and care. Worth every penny.
Not the old Spiaggia. Quality has dropped over the past few years.
A fabulous restaurant. Every dish I have ever had there has been delicious and thoughtfully presented. And unlike many fine restaurants these days, you can actually hear what the people at your table are saying. Not to be missed!
Incredible experience. My wife and I went for our anniversary dinner and we can say easily say Spiaggia earns all of its accolades. We did three courses (tartare, rissotto, steak, carrots, gnocchi). What sets this food apart is that instead of overwhelming you with overpowering flavors, each dish delivers on on each ingredient but are all elegantly shown. Outstanding service and attentiveness.
Service was great, food delicious. We did the five course tasting menu. Didn’t think every course was 5 Star that is why I gave it a four.
Pasta too salty, trout fabulous, duck amazing, dessert just okay but gelato in replacement was super. Carpaccio could have been great but a ridiculously small amount you could barely taste. Bartender makes a wonderful martini and we would definitely return.
Beautiful restaurant. Professional staff. But very limited menu, tiny portions and way overpriced. Make sure you check the online menu and wine list. That’s it....nothing more.
An amazing dining experience.
The staff was not only attentive and knowledgeable but also engaging and fun. Particularly the pastry chef, Joey, who was delightful.
Ago to for a guaranteed special dinner. Our dinner this time was outstanding again. You must visit when visiting Chicago!

We were there for our anniversary, the service was impeccable. The sommelier was very knowledgeable and helpful. Had a wonderful dinner and discovered a great champagne. We will definitely be back.
Perhaps expected too much - innovative Italian was interesting but could have been more fulfilling. Wine and service was great.
Overrated. The food quality was definitely better than average, but for the price point, in Chicago, it left a considerable amount to be desired. Some of the food was actually bland. It was a pretty disappointing meal
Overall, a great experience. One thing about the ambiance: The dining room is serene in design , but the music was "classic rock" and played a bit loud. Very strange and inconsistent for an otherwise classy restaurant.
Spiaggia hit a home run !
I took my wife there for her birthday and every minute was special. From the Happy Birthday greeting when we arrived, the pre-dinner drinks with the engaging bartender, the fantastic tasting menu experience, the signed menu by the Chef, and a birthday dessert with a candle.
Every detail made this a wonderful dining experience.
You can get a good meal at a lot of places in this town, but the overall experience that you get at Spiaggia has no equal.
It's just not what it once was. Simple as that. The food is unbelievably overpriced for its quality, which can be matched at countless other Chicago restaurants.

The Italian food was mediocre compared to other good Italian food I’ve had in Chicago and many other cities around the country. The ambience was stuffy. The wines by the glass were $20 or more. The food was very expensive. All of that would’ve been fine if the food was fabulous, but it just wasn’t. This place is overrated.
