Spencer's Ratings and Reviews
There was no notice that it would be a very limited menu for valentines day which is why i choose this restaurant. It was very disappointing to think we were going to eat certain items and we could not. The waitress said it should have been on the website which it wasn't. I was tempted to leave but decided not to since i had already prearranged a babysitter for my children. Was not really impressed with their food that night.
Food quality and taste were great.
Prices are ridiculous but I'm willing to pay that for the high end steakhouse experience. However, this wasn't that.
Condescending and really slow service. Kelvin our server could not have been more arrogant. For these prices hire a couple more bussers so my dirty plates don't need to sit on the table for 20 minutes between courses. A 15 minute wait for pre made tiramisu is just annoying.
When I asked the gentleman who appeared to be the manager or maitre d' if that was in fact his role, he felt the need to inform me he was the food and beverage manager. What a pompous jerk. All I got when I told him I'd never come back was "I'm sorry". Obviously he could care less since we had already paid the bill.
Way to make a delicious meal a bad experience.
Ordered two ribeyes medium rare - we got two ribeyes well done. The server apologized when we finally got someone's attention to get our server. The place was dead on a Saturday evening, so there should have been plenty of time to pay attention to the steak and make sure it was cooked properly instead of turned into a hockey puck. For $50 a steak, I was incredibly disappointed.
Three of us got the Price Fix menu, mini filet mignon, potatoes, asparagus and 1/2 a lobster tail, creme brulee. It didn't taste like lobster and it didn't look like lobster. I think it was a colossal shrimp. The crust on the creme brulee was too thin and had a burnt flavor, not browned. 8oz glass of wine $22. Corkage fee per bottle $25.
Went to Spencer's to celebrate a birthday. Unfortunately, Halibut was way over cooked. Wanted to get a special glass of red wine: Stags leap....they were out. Asked for a glass of Côtes de Rhone and they were also out of that!!!(these are not unusual wines!!). We were able to order a house red. This was very disappointing way to celebrate a birthday--food over cooked and wine just ok.
I asked for a table near their fireplace, and that is what we received perfect setting. This was a business Christmas luncheon with ladies form the office and the owner's wife. I could not have asked for any better service or food. Only thing was a few knats were flying around our table which also kept us entertained.
A solid good but not fantastic dinner. I think on a normal night this would have been great but for Christmas eve dinner and hundreds of dollars I would've liked more consistency.
Spencer cut steak is amazing
lamb chops were delicious-the lamb chop sauce was heavenly
Burrata salad was fresh and delicious
crabcakes were a hit
Good wine selection at all price points
lovely ambiance in good location
hot bread to start out
2 of our steaks were just ok good- nothing that was very "special occasion" tasting
veggie sides were all good but pretty darn expensive for simple veg
biggest flaw-desserts were very underwhelming.
Also- side not is that the restroom is kind of far and down some stairs- when taking an elderly person out to dine I now always pay attention to accessibility issues
Service was middle of the road good- nothing went wrong and the team clearly worked together well to check in on us and bring all dishes at the same time. But no one was particularly extra friendly or helpful either.
A solid place but not on my favorites list.
This is the second time I dined here and honestly the worst thing about my experience here comes from the staff and waiter. They are so cold with no personality and no care for providing you a wonderful experience. Service is extremely sub-par - no asking about how's your day or anything just straight anything to drink, anything to start, ready for your order. Our waiter (an Asian gentleman with glasses) never checked on us nor asked how our food was prepared. Just came by took the orders and put our the plates down and walked away. We celebrated our anniversary and there was no mention at all. Food overall leaves a lot to be desired. Spencer's is a steakhouse but to me their steak aren't as tender and flavorful as other establishments that expect you to pay that sort of price point. A restaurant like Alexander's way outshines this place in terms of service and food. I honestly like the ambience very much here - sleek, clean, and usually pretty peaceful and quiet - a great place to share conversation. But sadly, the meal experience is what it lacks. For the price that you expect to pay, the overall experience does not garner it. Go somewhere else I think you'll be disappointed.
I had a business dinner of 8 people here on a Tuesday evening. Our service was incredibly slow, I had to search for our waiter to order a glass of wine and then it took 30 minutes for the glass of wine to arrive at my table. The food was good and satisfying. I only ate half of my meal and asked to have the other half boxed up. I never checked the box at the table and the following day when I went to heat up my left overs I found that the server only boxed the piece of steak and did not include the mashed potatoes, brussel sprouts and shrimp on my plate. I was not very happy that all of the food on my plate was not boxed since we have to pay for each side separately!
We often do business dinners at Spencer's because of their consistent quality of food and service. We know we can have discussions and hear each other, as well as not be disturbed at inappropriate times. Very professional but also personable. Steaks, salads, calamari, are always a hit. Oh, and the warm bread and black salted butter are always on point. Always a winner. Spenser's .
Taking away experience from 1st time at Spencers Steakhouse service was excellent from the hostess to the wait stuff made it comfortable dinning for my party & I. Certain entrees were okay as preparation but especially execution was sub-par, two orders of rib-eye steaks from both my guest were undercooked in other words medium-rare steaks closer rare and side dishes sautéed mushrooms had spoiled after taste. Not pleased with dishes took away from food dinning experience from some of our guess.
My steak order was ordered Medium rare but was served Medium Well the first time and had to be sent back. So they offered to re-do and this time I asked for Medium Rare & the second one came out really rare. It also happened to my friends in the next table where they got a couple of their steaks not done right.
This is a great place for business lunch. The food and the server are excellent. The environment is quiet that is suitable for business chat. Valet parking and self parking are both available. People from the hotel is friendly. I will go when there is appropriate occasion and I definitely recommend this restaurant to friends.
