Food was great but service was horrible. With $35 Corkage, you Would at least expect them to pour and refill your glass. Restaurant was not crowded but we rarely saw our waitress.
Recently I often had a dinner with my co-worker, one reason is location, but their steak is always great for us. especially at last time our visit, the lady server for us was excellent, her service was so kind and paying attention to our meal, we had a great dinner. thank you.
Excellent location for business meals. I recommend this location often as it has a very friendly hostess and wait staff.
Favorite place for a steak because I like how they put a slight char on it. Have never been disappointed here. Service is always friendly and excellent.
Spencer’s is an excellent choice if you’re in the mood for steaks or chops.
If you’re familiar with Morton’s The Steak House, I would put a star behind that, but still very good.
Here is a quick comparison of the two:
•Spencer’s Ambiance only good, not great. The reason is that it’s too bright and loud for the high-end prices. (Morton’s beats Spencer’s here.)
•Our server was top notch. He knew the food, and always asked the right questions. Ask for Kelvin (like the temperature.)
•My steak was perfect, but my wife’s pork chop was a bit dry and tough. The garlic-mashed potatoes were excellent, but the Brussel sprouts just weren’t delicious .. too fried or something. (Morton’s beats Spencer’s here.)
•Our shrimp cocktail was good, but Morton’s comes in a smoking cauldron of dry ice that really improves the presentation. (I think Morton’s shrimp were bigger too.)
•Dessert and cappuccino was perfect. We had the chocolate dome cake and it was delicious.
All in all a solid 4 stars.
You would think paying $46 for steak you would at least get veggies on your plate. The crab mac & cheese was ok, more like and Alfredo sauce and crab. The child’s steak we ordered wasn’t worth $22. Got 6 bight sizes of meat smothered in onions, which kids don’t eat. Staff was friendly but not to knowledgeable about specials and prices. A nice surprise at the end of the meal with a free piece of cheesecake for Father’s Day.

What I like about Spencers is that it is a great central place for the valley to have business meetings, consistently good food, quiet enough to have conversations, typically good service, and reasonable prices.
A bit over-priced. Menu is a la carte.
1. Ordered the 8 oz filet medium. It was served with a cherry tomato, a piece of raw garlic and a sprig of oregano on the plate.... came to the table rare. had to send it back. I could eat the outer portion, but....the inside 4 oz was still rare.
2. They pushed the sale of carbonated water to the tune of $10. I don't see the need of delivering a 750 ml bottle of water and walk away with the cap.
Nice dinner. We like to go to Spencer’s a few times a year. Bread and Beef were fantastic. Sides were good.
Everyone was nice & tentative to make sure we have water and well taken care off.
It was a birthday celebration and it was his first time at Spencer’s. He loved it.

I decided to have my belated birthday dinner with my husband and older son at the restaurant last Saturday (4/21). We got to the restaurant for a 6pm reservation and was quickly seated. Then again, the place wasn't busy just yet. Our waitress took our order in a timely manner but the service went downhill from there. For appetizer, we ordered the braised bacon appetizer with figs and herbs, which was cooked well and juicy. My son really liked it. For dinner, I ordered the lamb chop and my husband got the prime rib. For our sides, we had potatoes, glazed carrots and brussel sprouts. My son got mac and cheese.
We started noticing that the service was lacking during our dinner. It seemed like it was taking some time to get our food. Also, our server didn't check with us if everything was good when our food did arrive. By then, it started getting busy around 7pm by then. Maybe they were short staffed since I didn't see that many waiters. There were times that we were sitting around after we were done before our server came back. We did order the neapolitan cheesecake for dessert. Again, it took some time before we got the dessert. After finishing the dessert, we were left waiting for the server so we can get the check. Get this, we had the card out and ready while each of us took turns to go to the bathroom. Both times, the server didn't come with the check.
When we were finally done, we left the restaurant past 8pm. It took us about 2 hours for dinner but most of that was waiting around. Overall the food was good and I would consider coming back if the service was better.
Project completion celebration
Came here for quick business lunch - bad idea. Parking is a problem due to location in the hotel. Only real choice was valet. Even with validation, the cost was $5. Service was very poor. Waiter never stopped by to check if needed more water, to let us know when our food was arriving. All 3 of us ordered salads - it took almost 45 minutes. Food was fine, albeit overpriced. Ambience is nice and quite so you can have a conversation without shouting at your table partners. Slow service is fine if you aren't time sensitive .
My boyfriend and I came here for our Anniversary, our 1st time at Spencer's. Food was delicious! We ordered the grilled octopus and crab/lobster cake for appetizers and shared the 31oz porterhouse steak. It was a little overcooked, we wanted a medium rare but it was medium to almost well done. We wanted to get it fixed but we were too hungry tp wait. It was still delicious. Ambiance was a little noisy since there was a party of 10 right by the doorway. Service was really good, our waiter was very friendly and attentive. Overall it was a great experienced and we'll be back!
The service was really slow and not very attentive despite there only being a few customers. Empty glasses on the table for quite some time. Slow refills (except for the gentleman with water, he was on point).
The food was not very good. I ordered scallops, I love scallops so I order them often at restaurants. They were salty and not comes well, pasta was mushy, and the presentation was meh. My salad was swimming in dressing. Just overall underwhelming.
We ended up sending back some and just trashing the rest after one bite but still paid 170.00 and the manager never came by even though we told the waitress the food wasn't great and it was our first time dining there.
Excellent service! Our server and even the additional staff were very accommodating and friendly. Everything we ate was delicious! I especially loved the salmon. We really enjoyed our experience and we would definitely return to eat there again.
I have been here before and like a ways it was great, the food, the waiter, the environment was just everything about Spencer's is lovely.
Great business meeting over fine dining
Best old fashioned I've ever had.
Generally my go-to place for a high-end steakhouse, I prefer Spencer's to other more famous steak chains. This was not quite their night for food. My friend ordered lamb chops and loved them. They looked great to me too. I ordered salmon and it was a nice piece of fish, but it had been dried out by overcooking. Still edible, but no longer a $35 piece of fish. The shared crock of creamed spinach was nice. The waiter, overattentive, felt he needed to interrupt our initial conversation so he could get the orders rolling. Finally, be aware that Spencer's will validate parking. It's in the DoubleTree hotel so there's a parking charge if you don't get validation.
Waiter was awesome. Food was fantastic. I had to spend an hour and a half at the gym just to work off the calories. It was a great experience.
Great food, service and setting, as always!! One of the best restaurants in Palm Springs. Try the sole...; cannot be beat...best thing on the menu.

Two words, a mess.
The Ceasar's salad was absolutely extremely acid, and the corrected version was just bearable. The filet Mignon was ordered medium and was delivered rrr, the pepper sauce was "Where is the pepper?", the sautéed mushroom lacked any flavors, the pork chop was unevenly cook and besides charged had no flavor at all.
A total waste of money.

All was great except for my $87 steak which was the worst piece of meat I have ever had. Terrible.
We celebrated my husband's birthday there and were very pleased with all our meals. The lamb chops were delicious, as were the filet mignons. I was only unimpressed with how the server asked about the water choices we liked. He didn't confirm our choices and ended up serving all three options..sparkling, bottled AND tap?!...charging us more than we prefered. Aside from that, we had a nice dinner.
Though the are renovating the Hotel, the food makes it all worthwhile. Edgar was our server, very polite and prompt in his delivery. He had great recommendations and was easy to waive down when needed (hardly).
Therese the Host was very welcoming and excited to sit us. She made small talk to break the ice and also offered some recommendations.
Food was incredible as always (my company and I both had the Rib Eye). Great steak and the accompaniments were tasty.
Overall, i plan on coming back! great place, can't wait for the renovation to be completed though.

The hotel is undergoing renovation so you will need to bear with the hanging plastic sheets which have been put in place to protect guests from dust etc during renovation. The restaurant itself is not affected jut the entrance to the hotel and the path leading to the Restaurant. If you can overlook this inconvenience , you can enjoy a nice meal in a quiet surrounding with top class service.
Spencer’s is considered a pretty upscale place to dine, so there are expectations for nice ambience, great quality of food, and efficient staff. My previous experiences at Spencer’s was great, had a pretty attentive staff and served us in a timely manner.
However... after today’s visit, I am just horrified with the service that I will not go back there again.
- Table setup: we were a party of 3 at a table for 4, failed to take away the extra set which left us with limited table space
- Mediocre food: Mashed potatoes were clearly sitting out because it hardened
- Horrible Service: Waiting for our waiter (or any) was so horrible that we actually spent our time tracking how long it took. There were no servers in sight when the hostess sat us and basically throughout the meal and afterwards. It took us at least 20 minutes to flag ANY servers to get waters and another 5 minutes before our server finally came to our table to take our orders. For some reason, started being more “present” while we were eating but “escaped” just as we finished. So, we had to wait 15 min. to flag just ANY servers for the bill and because the bill needed to be adjusted and needed parking validations, that took another 8 min. which at this point I am out of patience.
Hopefully for the sake of others this was an outlier “off” experienced, because I am not coming back here again.
We had a 5pm reservation on a Wednesday night. We had a little confusion finding the entrance due to the construction in the lobby of the hotel. After that we were seated right away and given the menus which contained a nice variety of appetizers, salads, and entrees. The server arrived immediately and was able to make some good recommendations on wine and appetizers. We selected the braised bacon and it was fantastic! I don't drink so I can't speak about the wine, but my associates seemed to enjoy it. Our dinner order was taken promptly. While waiting they served bread and butter as well - nice and warm, too! We had a few minutes to chat. It was early so not too many people in the place. Dinner arrived. I had the lamb chops with bordelaise (red wine based) sauce and it was perfectly cooked medium rare and a creative presentation as well. For the table (a group of 4) we also ordered the Hash Browns, Brussel Sprouts and Sautéed Mushrooms. The hash browns are very flavorful- there are green onions, bacon and sour cream - crispy on the outside but soft underneath. The veggies were also perfectly cooked and flavorful. My associates had a filet mignon, a rib eye steak and a scallop entree and everyone was raving about how good they were. We were so full that we opted to skip desert. The entrees averages about $47 each. The side dishes were extra $15-20 each, so this isn't a cheap meal, but it was worth it! Also, the restaurant does validate parking. if you self park it's free after validation. Valet ends up being $5 after validation.
