Good steak but expensive.
We finished up a vacation by dining here. The buffalo steak was outstanding, as was the stuffed salmon. The salads were lovely. The wine selection was great. I would recommend to anyone who plans on being in Salt Lake City anytime soon.
The food is amazing cooked to absolute perfection with sauces that taste wonderful.
Great steak great service
I made a reservation for my husbands birthday to celebrate and have a special dinner date while we were staying at the Hilton. Even made note of it in reservations request! Very disappointed! Food was cold when delivered. $350 dinner for 2 wasted! Had to ask for check after no service once food was delivered cold and waited almost 30 minutes only to have our cold dinner packed to go with no one ever checking to see if everything was okay at any point in the evening. Forget dessert or coffee. So disappointed that my plans to make my husbands 50th Birthday were ruined! Should have gone next door to Ruth’s Chris! As a Hilton Honors member, this has been one of the worst experiences I have had in a hotel and it’s accompanying amenities. Salt Lake City is not on a must return list with this experience! Don’t waste your money!
Food is consistently good at Spencer’s. Julio, our server is outstanding...very knowledgeable and nearly anticipates every need. I recommend the wagyu filet and Brussels sprouts. We love having a booth to ourselves on date night. Very quiet and intimate.
Comfortable ambience, excellent food, good service. Perfectly cooked steak!!
Dutch and team had seamless service, no glass was ever empty, our table was served and cleaned efficiently. Well done. Sides were superb, the Brussels sprouts are just outstanding, but all were excellent. Lamb lollipops, superb. Steaks were very good, I don’t compare to Gibson’s, Lugers etc, but they are very good.
Had reservation for 5,we had a sudden 6th, and even late 7 th person, they were very accommodating.
Overall, would absolutely return, our second time, and we’ll be back!
Bartender too busy, to keep track of bar. Not her fault she was running her butt of and doing the best job any human could do. Steak was good not great. Noise level was too much for the price and feel of the place. Asparagus was not cooked and cold. That is the only complaint on food the rest was average to good.
Overall was really good. Very pricy but good fosd and better service.
Food and service was excellent. Ten stars all around.
We made reservations for Spencer's based on the reviews we read. When we arrived it took 30 minutes past our reservation to seat us and when we sat down (7:30 on a Saturday) they told us they were out of filet and strip... the 2 major steaks any steak house should have available on a Saturday night. I tried to get our waiters attention to let him know that we were going to be going (I thought it was the polite thing to do) but he wouldn't return to our table so we had to walk out. We spoke with the receptionist who was very apologetic. We ended up next door at Ruth's Chris, a steak house that was not out of steaks on a Saturday night. We will not be going back to Spencers.
Food was just warm, not hot. Lamb chops too salty, fries came out after the rest of the food was served. Slow service, steaks were not done to the request of the patrons. Our expectations were higher based on having been twice before and the overall cost of dining there. Will not be back and will not recommend either. Very mediocre
Steak was somewhat cold. It was overpriced for what you get. If I’m going to pay that much; Ruth’s Chris is way better quality.
The service was stellar, as always. Even though we’d had to change our reservation twice because of travel delays, Spencer’s was more than accommodating and helped make our (belated) anniversary celebration an occasion to remember. The special dessert created just for us by the chef was the perfect finale to our evening.
Great all around.
Great waygu filet.
Food was delicious outstanding service!
Would definitely go again
While the food was just ok for me and my wife and our friends. I had the NY steak and our friends had the prime rib. I just didn't feel that my steak was all that great. Ruby River makes a tastier steak sorry to say, and half the price. We won't be back.
Great atmosphere and awesome food
Not anywhere near the standards and quality of Ruth’s Chris or Christopher’s in Salt Lake City.
New Year’s Eve
Especially good: wedge salad was surprisingly amazing, shrimp cocktail also great... very large prawns! The steak good but not blow your socks off and potatoes au graten were also good but not great! Creme Brûlée was really good. Overall was a good meal. I'd go next door for the blow your socks off steak I'm sorry to say.
Annual family tradition of Ballet West's "the Nutcracker" and then Spencer's for dinner. Over ten years now of doing this. Always great food and service.
Some of the best food you can eat and a great environment. But I don’t think I could afford to ever go back there again.
My family and I were looking for a last minute reservation for Christmas dinner. Many friends had recommended Spencers in the pastAnd seeing as they had an open dinner reservations but, we decided to give it a try. I can honestly say that this was one of the best steak dinners I have ever had. Our entire family left feeling extremely satisfied and we are already looking forward to dining here again. I literally have not one bad thing to say!
We have been here for several special family occasions and are always pleased with the food, service, and setting. Easy parking.
I had the Wagu rib eye cooked medium. What a delicious piece of meat. So glad I followed the recommendation of the server Randy.
Great food and great service. A company staff dinner that was thoroughly enjoyed by employees and spouses. We will be back
I had the Waygu ribeye and my wife had the king crab. Both were excellent! I would definitely go back.
The food was delicious, but the environment and the service was not great. Our waitress never told us any of the specials, we had to overhear from another server near us. She forgot about us multiple times and seemed very panicked. The food took a long time to come out.
Our server was excellent: knowledgeable and efficient. Kept us in schedule for our Symphony tix without it feeling rushed. Meat entrees were excellent (esp the bacon wrapped elk- and this is from a person who don’t normally eats game). Sides were ok- Brüssel sprouts were imbalanced (acidic). Rolls were yummy!! My cocktail (spiced cherry Manhattan-wow!!! That’s a keeper!) and French rose were excellent.
Our food was delicious and we received excellent service!
We ate here twice in one week. The seafood was amazing. To start us off, we had the french onion soup, Ahi tuna & king crab cakes. The mango/pineapple salsa was perfect with the wasabi cream on the Ahi. We had the Chilean Sea Bass served over a lovely lobster risotto. Fabulous! The second night, we went another route and were equally satisfied. We opened with the slab bacon (bacon chunks served with peanut butter, blackberry jam and almond brittle) and it is something you have to try. Superb! For the entree, we had the Spencer's Ribeye and the Wagyu Ribeye. Both were seasoned and cooked perfectly (if you like it a bit on the rare side). Both steaks are so rich, we only ordered Maitake mushrooms to have with the meal. They proved to be an excellent accent. The wine and cocktail list is large enough to find something perfect to pair with your meal even at most any budget.
The staff is phenomenal, nice ambiance, and the food was quite good. However, I personally felt the food was not as flavorful as it could have been. I have had better steaks at other area steakhouses at much lower prices.
Message to management. Chang your wine pricing policy. Charging 4 - 5 times the retail price of wines is outright stupid and is insulting to customers. Prices are $30 - $100 per bottle MORE than Ruth Chris. It literally inhibits customers completely enjoying their meal knowing that a restaurant cares so little about them that they are willing to price gouge them in a captive environment. The policy is stupid and neither I nor my companies do business with stupid policies. We will no longer reimburse expenses incurred at Spencer’s for anything.
We had excellent service and the food was delicious. The wedge salad was one of the best I have ever eaten. All filets were cooked perfectly and were very tender. The sides we chose were very good and were great accompaniments to the meal. Our server was very attentive and anticipated our needs throughout our meal. A very enjoyable time. Thank you.
Solid choice for the Thanksgiving holiday. Nice value and food was excellent.
Thanksgiving grossly disappointing. Sluggish, inattentive service, cold food ruined a nice holiday gathering At $55 per person, would have expected more when we have had other pleasant experience there.
No tablecloths greatly diminished the quality level of a supposed fine dining establishment
We had Thanksgiving Dinner at Spencer's and it was really good food, with all the trimmings. The meal even came with dessert, apple pie al mode. Best apple pie I've ever eaten.
