Spencer's Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We arrived 20 minutes early & was seated immediately. We wanted to sit in the courtyard but it wasn’t readily available so we sat inside, which was fine. The servers were over to us within minutes asking about water & bringing bread. The waitress wasn’t too far behind asking if we wanted cocktails & then asked if we were ready to order? Which we were. The time between ordering & appetizers was not that long. Granted it was a Tuesday night, but as I stated the courtyard was filled & inside was about 50%. We were pleasantly surprised. The waitress & assistants were attentive throughout the meal. Once my wife finished her meal we didn’t have anyone come by for about 20 minute. Once the waitress did she was attentive through desert. As for the food?! Wow! So delicious & worth the prices! I had the lamb (Gluten-Free) & my wife had the veal special of the day. Both were cooked to perfection! We split the 24 Karat Cake for desert! Another great one! This restaurant was recommended by friends who live in Palm Springs as we’re from Pittsburgh, PA & it was all that the hype made it! Definitely book a reservation!
I would eat at Spencer's every day if I could. The food is delish and very affordable They have a great Lunch menu and offer Brunch items in addition to lunch on Sundays I have never had a bad meal love there house made chips! Service is always on point and a Manager always stops by to make sure everything is fine
Very nice overall experience. Nice ambiance outside and the heaters were very effective on a chilly evening. The food was very good as was the service. The only complaint (which I have never made before on any restaurant review) is the bathroom situation since my wife and I had to wait a while (10 minutes) to use them since what they have is insufficient to handle the customers on a busy evening.
I was so disappointed. We had terrible service. Our waiter clearly forgot to put in our lunch order as everyone around us who came in after us were served way before we were. There was no apology or acknowledgement of the long delay. To make matters worse - he completely messed up our bill and had to get the manager to fix it. I feel like it is blasphemous to say something negative about Spencer’s but it was NOT a good experience. We won’t be back.
Very disappointed in Spencer’s. First they tried to seat us at table totally unacceptable. In fact my husband watched and the next three couples they tried to seat their also objected. Hostess constantly trolled the dining room with her IPad stalking the tables to see who was ready to leave- very disconcerting! Perhaps she should have set her pad down and helped bus some tables as they were woefully short in that area and empty plates sat for an unacceptable amount of time. Very disappointing evening!
The pianist was excellent. Service very good. We were late and called ahead, hostess could have been more gracious as it was not very busy and many tables were available. The food was fine but not as good as i remembered from past years visiting Palm Springs.
I have been dining at Spencer’s (lunch only) for many years. It is a unique “one of a kind” dining experience! Set into the mountain, the covered patio is the place to have lunch. Mature trees are growing next to tables! Menu is varied and prices are reasonable. 4 of us ate there this week for $120 with tax & tip.
Valet your car! They are friendlier and more accommodating than the wait staff!
The food was wonderful and the Birthday Girl loved her menu with a Happy Birthday wish inside it. The only thing was having the server drop my ice tea on me and the person next to me shoes, which did leave a stain on them.
He was very quick to get me a towel and a new chair to replace the wet one. Luckily my purse and jacket were on the other side and did not get wet.
Unexpectedly good for lunch. We have no dinner experience. My ahi salad was very good with a light creamy dressing, fresh greens and nicely cooked-rare strips of ahi sitting on top. The other 3 dining companions enjoyed their French onion soup, crab cakes and excellent creamy clam chowder with half a grilled portobello sandwich and side salad. The atmosphere in the covered garden is perfect except for the admittance of pets. I get it about "service" animals, but these days people take advantage of the state laws prohibiting businesses from asking if the pet is a real service animal, prescribed by a medical doctor and registered with the state as such. The other dilemma is parking. There is a valet but if you aren't comfortable with the valet, street parking is very limited and your walk at peak dining times could be a block or two.
I had just been served the main source of the business lunch when they ran out of the sirloin which I hoped wasn't on the menu. It was that or a steamed trout. No one was ordering the fish. They substituted a frenched pork chop in mushroom grave which was ordered by all six people at the table next to me. It was what I was hoping was on the menu and they all raved about and could barely finish. It looked wonderful! I ordered the salad to start which was good but very small in a large bowl. Chocolate cake was the offering for desert. It was three types of chocolate mousse with cherries and fudge sauce all rolled up with vanilla ice cream. It was really nice. Everyone else in our group enjoyed their meal as usual. Mine was - well, steak and potatoes. The kitchen was slow. One waiter was so loud you could hear him across the room. Polite conversations became very public to be heard over MR Bellicose. I now realize why people were asking him what days he worked. Every table was full for lunch Thursday so times are good I suppose.
The evening outing was great. we went with fiends a first time for all of us. the waiter was great , the food was great and the atmosphere was great. looking forward to another visit. we especially liked the express 3 course meal and the price. great value.
One down side. this in my opinion was a classy restaurant, yet a lady strolled in with her 2 dogs in a baby stroller. definitely not the time or the place for 2 dogs. Again, my opinion I don't think the restaurant should have allowed her dogs
Spencer's is always a treat. This was our first visit for breakfast, and it was on a Saturday morning. It was great. Spencer's is always great. The outdoor dining room is heated in the winter and air conditioned in the summer, so unless it's raining, it's the place to request to be seated.
Friendly and efficient service. Pleasant ambience. Food was well presented although my fillet mignon, whilst nicely cooked, was somewhat tasteless, even with a pepper sauce. The grouper was also well cooked but again lacking flavour.
Overall an enjoyable experience.
Absolutely, spectacularly, unimpressive and uninspired food. My French Onion soup was ordinary. My bland chicken had a flavorless sauce and the mashed potatoes were cold (I had to send it back). The worst part was the Pot du Creme (the waiter couldn’t even pronounce it correctly) was rubbery, like wallboard paste. Considering all the hype our friends had about this place and the prices, I expected a LOT more. The portions are enormous (usually a bad sign - quantity over quality) The only good thing I can say is the service was decent and the outdoor seating area had a wonderful atmosphere.
