Spencer's at the Waterfront Ratings and Reviews
It was great except for the fact that my husband and I were freezing cold for most of our meal. The waitress did kindly try to make it better by speaking to the manager and raising the heat but there was no difference. Other than that everything was really good and our server did a great job at taking care of us
We thought the food and service was great. Our waiter was very attentive and professional. Some of the hot food was cold, otherwise, I would recommend to my family and friends. I noted it was my sister's 60th birthday on the reservation, but there was not a word mentioned during our stay. I cannot, however, wait until our next visit. Thank you
I was very disappointed with my lunch , I orderedFallafel on a pita. The Fallafel was like hockey pucks, no sauce and the pita itself was like dried out paper. The waiter never came back to see how our meal was, so I iate as I was so hungry. He was almost rude when I finally got him to bring me some sauce.
Have been coming here for several, years and I don’t think I will ever go back.
I finally got to try the famous Sunday brunch here, but perhaps it's not the best to have such high expectation before going. It was definitely a nice atmosphere and a great spot for a family gathering, but the food was alright and there was nothing mindblowing. It was a good, standard brunch. The service was quite slow, so it was a bit frustrating having to find our wait staff ourselves. It would be a nice venue for any occasion (saw lots of family parties/gatherings) but I wouldn't return if i was in the mood for some great food.
The managers were late getting us to our table but were extremely apologetic and offered us free apps for our patience. All in all a very good experience for a lively night out with friends. The restaurant was loud enough that you didn’t feel like you were bothering the people at the next table if you were enjoying yourselves - but not so loud that you couldn’t hear each other talk.
The fish taco was barely warm. Our server stopped by our table for a few seconds each time. We did have the fish reheated or replaced, but we were both disappointed and wouldn’t order it again. I thought we might have been offered a free dessert to share as I had specified that it was a birthday celebration.
I lovely spot for a business lunch. View is great both of the water around the fireplace. Service was prompt because we were on a time schedule. Nothing too exciting but well-prepared. My colleague had the lentil soup and salad and I had the fish tacos withSalad. Tables are not too close so we could have a confidential conversation.
I don’t normally leave a review, but since we had such an exceptional waiter, Robert, I felt compelled to leave a review this time. Robert was very professional and made us all feel welcome and relaxed. He was attentive and served us specialty coffee drinks promptly, making us feel that it was his pleasure to serve us.
My daughter also commented to me that she felt Robert was the best waiter that she has had in many years.
Initially when I saw on the website that there would be a 17% gratuity tip automatically added to the bill, I felt this percentage was a bit high for a brunch venue. However, after receiving the service that we did from Robert I was more than happy to leave this gratuity.
All the members of my family thoroughly enjoyed this Brunch and we will definitely be coming back to Spencer’s!
Everything was great! would have loved to know that all the drinks were included! I'm sure that was mentioned on the website some where i just missed it! Mimosa's and Caesar's included and all for just $51 per person!
Just make sure you go hungry! Higher price point- but great quality overall day.
We had a family meal at Spencer's when they first opened and at the time, we didn't we would ever go back. The layout created such a amplification of noise, that we couldn't carry on a conversation! Last November, my husband brought me back for a birthday meal - we were pleasantly surprised by the changes, with a combination of family-friendly corners as well as more intimate booths away from the main area. To make the evening even better, we happen to be there on a Tuesday for the "steaks and grapes " special, which was Devine!! We've made it our new years resolution to goat least one Tuesday a month!
My husband and I ate here for New Year's Day brunch with our 9 month old. We were seated where the high chair had to be where one of the chairs was and not at the outside of the table. The high chair strap didn't tighten very well. This meant us having to switch chairs back and forth so one of us was right beside our baby as we took turns getting our food. It was not very enjoyable. Any other restaurant we have eaten at the high chair is able to go at the outside of the table/booth or we are seated at a round table. I did have a reservation and in it specifies a high chair.
In addition, we didn't find the service to be that good (server came back only to clear plates and only asked once if my hubby wanted another drink (never asked me), and the food was not so good either. The waffles were left out so they were cold, and much of what I tasted I took one bite and that was enough (for me being a foodie that says a lot). Considering this cost us $65 each plus tax and gratuities, we really didn't feel it was worth it. Very disappointing considering Spencer's is a sentimental place to us (where we had our first date and anniversary dinners). Wish we could get that money back...
Seating was overcrowded...a table for two felt like a table for 6 because we were crammed in and we were told we couldn’t move the table. It was very uncomfortable! The service was not great, missing items, wrong course was served, drink order was forgotten. My husband had the steak which he enjoyed, I ordered the lobster...which for the price was not satisfactory. The Portion was very small and quality of the meat was not good.
We will not return or recommend Spencer’s.
Love the restaurant location and ambience. Our waiter was excellent. In the past, that has not always been the case but on my last 2 visits, I have been impressed. Thank you for that, it's very important. I've been to this restaurant several times over the many years it has been a Burlington landmark. It has not always been predictable which has meant that I'm not a regular. The location is one that can not be beat and I do love the new decor.
The food is good, not scrumptious or memorable, but still good. I was there with my husband, daughter and two teenage grand kids for lunch. Nice selections. I chose the trout while my husband and grand kids chose beef (burgers and prime rib sandwich). My daughter had the vegetarian falafel. All good.
My only comment on the food that is a tad negative is that I absolutely love fresh cut french fries. These are more like little chips, none are longer than an inch or so. We all ordered fries but they are so much trouble to eat, we could have done with one order. If you want good fries, go to Jake's Grill and Oyster House in Burlington...different, I get that, but they are THE BEST!
