kind of disappointed, with the taste of the food, it was overpriced!
we waited 1 hour to get our food!
Finished plate not picked up.. Food not as good as Ancaster
Too many mosquitoes outside, hundreds stick to your clothing and following you ..
Would not be able to enjoy the waterfront outside because of that...
Read a lot of great reviews and wanted to see what the hype was all about. Our expectations were extremely high because of the great reviews and we were not disappointed. From the hostess at the front, the waiter and the food, all was perfect. We ordered the sirloin and the wild boar which were both cooked perfectly.
We will definitely come again and work our way on trying everything on their menu.
Service was very good and the staff are all very friendly and personable. Special dietary requests were graciously accommodated. A really good dining experience overall.
We were there for our Anniversary dinner, food was amazing!! Service was great, friendly staff. Atmophere was nice. We loved sitting by the window and looking out at the water.
I'm a little torn with my experience at Spencer's. The food was good, value was okay, but a couple things disappointed me. First, it was our anniversary, and they did nothing special. I don't expect much, but anything would have been nice. Second, I booked well in advance and requested a window seat. When we got there, we were not seated by a window. I saw a couple vacant window seats, but they insisted that they were not available. I later saw that they were occupied by some walk-ins. These couple smalls things could have made our experience my better. Next anniversary, I will not be coming back.
Great table by the window.....lovely lunch...and delightful server ! My girlfriend and I like lunching at Spencers !
Lunch was good, but my dessert was terrible. It was a rhubarb crumble. It had maybe a teaspoon of rhubarb, phyllo pastry crumbled and a small scoop of ice cream. It was very over priced and not worth it. It also did not tasted very good. Way to much phyllo and not enough rhubarb.
We had a very enjoyable lunch with friends. We were all celebrating a special occasion and the staff and food was first class.
My son and I went for the Mother's Day brunch. Went later in the evening and watched the sunset and enjoyed the waterfront view. Food was amazing! The cost was a great value. The service was perfect! This will be our annual Mother's Day celebration moving forward. Thank you Spencer's!
The occassion was Mother's Day but half the time the music was more appropriate to a dance club. Classical music would have been more suitable. The lack of sensitivity regarding this matter spoke volumes about the poor managment. Service was medicocre and again unsuitable. I had to ask to have my 80 year old mother's first plate cleared when she returned with her second. Waiters should be on top of this sort of thing at this price. Also, when the waiter asked about how the food was he said "How's your food treating you?" Not exactly high class service. Food was medicocre at this price point. Very disappointing.
Best Sunday brunch !!! Service was fantastic and the views of the lake were fantastic.
Usually brunch is amazing here but the Mother's Day brunch at $70/person wasn't any different than a regular Sunday and in fact had less vegetarian options than usual. I probably ate about $10 worth of food that day - no quinoa salads, only carrots instead of other root vegetables, mini muffins weren't too fresh either...so it was disappointing.
Price to quality not worth it.
My meal Portuguese stew was bland and had way to many empty shells and no fish 2 small pieces.
The oysters were good and the sauce for them also good.
The brick chicken was good but again price point not worth it the market fish was well fishy sad for $30 price point.
Waitress was nice but took forever to come to us after we were seated. Then when she brought the water I wanted to order wine and she took off and didn’t come back for 8min and that was because I called her over
Birthday was very special
We had a lovely dinner at Spencer's with a table right by the window so we could see the view of the water. The service was impeccable (Jory) - attentive, friendly and professional. The food was delicious! My husband ordered steak and I ordered one of the specials (salmon). Portions were so reasonable! Expensive, but we knew that going in, and we knew the ambiance was part of what we were paying for. Chairs were very comfortable and tables nicely spaced out so we felt like we had privacy. Would definitely recommend and go back - they also have a great separate room for booking private parties that looks worth checking out!
The service was exceptionally slow but the server was friendly and knowledgeable. One of the appetizers was forgotten which meant we had to wait that much longer for our mains. A little disappointed.
The service was good
The food was something you can get anywhere else, noting special, the price was expensive compared to the quality
Very noisy place
They need to improve the menu ASAP
Mother’s Day......early celebration. Food and service great but dessert too expensive for what you got.
I’ve dined at Spencer’s a number of times but this time I felt like I was at an east side Mario’s. The food was not good and the little touches - gone. The calamari left something to be desired, the butter arrived as a cut slice - not whipped or sprinkled with salt, the bread was hard and stale - also little buns from the grocery store - not what I would expect or used to from this spot. I also had the shrimp app which was very good, and the tacos which were decent. Our water was not refilled once and my cappuccino arrived without the little cookies - again I expect a certain quality and level at this spot which I’ve received consistently before - perhap it was a one off but being there for a business meeting I was a little embarrassed. Sorry Spencer’s - I’ll be there again for another meeting soon so hopefully it was a one off.
No need to say more than I ticked off in the above categories.
Great first experience for wife's birthday. Service was very busy and chaotic due to the demand. Waiter didn't even get to us until we had to flag them and ask them how brunch worked. Food was amazing and have great variety. Too early in season to see view with pool.
Restaurant seems to have overbooked - got seated after an hour wait from booking time
While the overall experience was good, there were two things that could be improved.
1. They technically charge each adult for 3 alcoholic beverages (included in the adult brunch price).
2. The service was a bit on the slow side. I get people want to take time and relax over brunch, but I kept having to signal the waitress for additional kids beverages, to get plates cleared and eventually for the bill.
We were given a generous gift certificate 2+ years ago in celebration of a special anniversary and wanted to share it with those who had given it to us. Finding a convenient time for all of us wasn't easy - but the wait was worthwhile. We found our server, Melissa, was helpful, knowledgeable and provided excellent service without hovering. Each of us ordered a different meal and presentation and taste experience were exceptional.
I brought my sister for lunch to celebrate her birthday...her first visit. Our table had a great view, the server was excellent, but sadly the meal wasn’t up to the standard I’ve enjoyed in the past. Neither of us complained, as to not spoil the occasion but learned later, we were both disappointed. She had the burger and it was fine but the bun was stale. I had the open faced prime rib sandwich which ended up being a thick sub like bun with lots of melted cheese over very little meat...I could barely taste the flavour.
I’ll try again because I’ve had good meals in the past but I doubt my sister will return or recommend the restaurant to her friends. I’m disappointed because I had been raving about Spencer’s at the Water.
Very nice view, good service, food was average at best, very noisy, which takes away from the ambiance.
Excellent outside seating, unobstructed views of Lake Ontario.
Shady outdoor seating after 5 pm.
Inside window seating.
Menu is limited...all items are tastefully prepared. Being your own wine is $35 corkage.
Quality of the food is very tasty . Modern menu . Fresh fish items daily.
Service very professional, courteous, helpful and friendly.
Birthday dinner for my 94 year old mother in law
Waiter was awesome and catering to gluten/dairy free was great!!
We were very impressed with the ambiance! We had the patio to ourselves for the first half of the meal, and were still able to enjoy a peaceful meal when more patrons came. Our server was quick and friendly and came prepared with gluten-free options for one of our guests. The only disappointing factor was that the kitchen had still not received the mussels listed on the menu, which is an item one of us was really looking forward to, and the clam chowder she got instead was very lumpy. The burger was also too dry/overcooked to finish. We also got tacos which had a generous portion and were very filling! We were so appreciative of our server bringing out little celebration desserts with "Happy Mothers Day" written on them; that was so sweet and such a nice way to end the meal. Thank you!
Terrific Great service. Food was excellent.
I have been to Spencer’s brunch many times and the service, view of the lake, and desserts are always excellent. I was however, disappointed in the food quality, selection and temperature this visit. Another friend who went on the same day said the same. For the cost, I would expect the food to be hot and more selection. The drinks included option is good, but not for a non-drinker.
Sunday brunch with my elderly parents.
Traffic flow challenging for person with a walker. Hard to manoeuvre from table to servers in and out little doorways. Likely will not return for this alone.
Noise level high. Hard to talk with family.
Watched staff bring prepared trays of food through the dining area to the serving area via the narrow customer pathways between customer tables. Traffic flow issue again.
Prime rib was VERY rare and we like it rare and we found it and surprisingly tough. The lamb was too. Likely will not return because of this.
The salads, especially the arugula and fennel were delicious. So was the seafood.
Good luck sorting out traffic flow, noise level and sourcing beef and lamb. But as it was very busy, you may not have to worry about us not coming again.
The wait for the food was long, but the host was very compliant and offered complimentary drinks. Prosciutto wrapped pears were devine, as well as the perogies with kimchi. I ordered my lamb loin medium rare, and while 3 of the four pieces were served this way, one of them was well done, which was a disappointment.
The service was wonderful. Many thanks to Robert who made the evening so special. Great place with a nice wine list and exceptional food. We will be going back!
Food and service was amazing!
Nice Sunday Brunch with the family
Disappointed given the location. Traveling from Oakville, very pricey for what you get. The girl at the egg station, no gloves.
