Spasso Minnetonka Ratings and Reviews
Food was good enough, scrambled eggs with white cheddar is delicious, and the waffles are made fresh. However, our waiter was subpar, we had to ask him multiple times to fill our water and coffee. At one point, we had someone else’s waiter ask if we needed anything because our waiter walker right by us. Not the end of the world, and honestly, the waiter was a nice guy. Just kind of annoying after the second or third time of asking. Love dem eggs though!!
We enjoyed dining at Spasso with another couple. We were seated promptly and our waiter was attentive but not intrusive. Happy hour applies throughout the restaurant so we started with discount drinks and a couple great apps. Pizzas and salads were great and we never felt rushed. Great place. Be sure to try the gelato - birthday cake flavor!
Spasso was lively as usual- very nice atmosphere. Hostess and wait staff were very friendly and caring. Drinks and food were excellent. I have been there several times and have not been disappointed. Great place to meet friends for drinks and appetizers, dinner and special occasions. I had a birthday party there. No negatives here except it is so popular that it is often very crowded.
This was our first time dining at Spasso and we won’t be back nor would we recommend this restaurant to anyone. The price of the cocktails wasn’t listed but the waitress told us everything was $8/each - when the bill came though, drinks were $10/each. I ordered the chicken parmesan and my husband ordered the gnocchi. Both had zero flavor and relied on the heavy cream sauce way today much. I didn’t want a creamy dish and the waitress said the chicken parmesan and the pasta it sat on were covered in a red sauce. The chicken had a very small amount of red sauce and the pasta was covered in a creamy Alfredo sauce. Last, we were rushed in and out of our table within 30 minutes start to finish. We pay partly for a dining experience. We would have been better off going to a fast casual place. Dishes were overpriced for the poor quality being produced. We would happily pay their price or more if the food was better. Will not go back here again.
We've been here several times and in the past really enjoyed our food. This last time though the food was not good. We ordered the $14 tenderloin tips appetizer and they were tiny and over done. A shame because we've had them before and they were large cuts and juicy. Hopefully this is just a one off. The truffle fries were pretty good though. Their kids meals are all $8 which seems high for a tiny bowl of pasta, but they do get gelato with it so I guess that helps. We will be back and hopefully the food will be better again.
The food was truly outstanding for the price point. We got there before the dinner rush so we had about a half hour of quiet conversation before it became difficult to hear each other. The service was poor. Our server had difficulty remembering the menu, never came back to fill water glasses, and overcharged us for happy hour drinks and dessert. Thankfully Spasso's style is to support each other's tables when you have time, so the other servers were able to help and were awesome. We'd definitely come back but we'd make sure we aren't served by the same man.
My husband and I often go to Spasso on Friday evenings. We get there in time to take advantage of the Happy Hour specials. One thing we love to do is pick out a bottle of wine next door and bring it in the restaurant to enjoy. We have yet to have anything but great service! My husband's burger was a bit overcooked last time, but nothing horrible. My parm truffle wings were perfect!
The two of us checked in a few minutes apart and were led to different booths on either side of the divider. We texted each other after 15 minutes to check on ? arrival and discovered we were both already there. The young guy at the check in desk needs to be more attentive....
Food, service and ambiance were all very good.
We had a group of seven celebrating a birthday at Spasso. It was a busy Friday night, and our table was ready for us when we arrived. Our server was friendly and prompt. Every one had something different, pizza, salad, burger, sandwich, fish, pasta, and we shared desserts. Everything was delish, and the atmosphere was perfect for our group!
We passed by many times since it opened but after looking inside, its psuedo-pub interior suggested this was another formula type restaurant that didn't have fish and chips. Well we tried it finally as a Sunday evening alternative for ourselves, our son and daughter-in-law and our two teen age grand daughters. A small pizza divided nicely into 6 pieces as a starter. All of our mains were well prepared, tasty and the portions generous. And there were a large number of choices. The wine list was amazing for this type of venue, but most amazing was how reasonable the wine list markups were. I am hesitant to write this (lest they figure this out before our next visit) , but we ordered a wine with approximately a 33% mark up over retail in contrast to the usual 300-400% mark up frequently encountered in restaurants for wines in the $30-40 wine list range. Deserts--Ok the Key Lime pie was good, but not as great as one of my wife's friends said it was. The flourless chocolate cake tasted like a piece of fudge rather than a cake, but our teen age chocolate consumer was still hesitant to allow anyone a taste. All in all, a very pleasant surprise indeed. We will be back.
Terrible service would like to rate 0. After sitting there for over 20 minutes without a server stopping by at all we asked the host station if we would have a server soon & they said they would send someone over. No one....there were a lot of servers & it wasn't very busy. Finally decided to leave. Went to Samba in Hopkins where we were warmly greeted and our business very appreciated!
Spasso has been a favorite of ours in the past - great service, great food. And we have always enjoyed Jeff the driver of the car service - he's always great!!
But this time, we were less than impressed. We had 8pm reservations on a friday night. The place was half empty, yet the service was beyond slow. We picked out two bottles of wine from the store - one a chardonnay that needed chilling. Our waiter arrived after waiting far too long. He saw we had wine and we asked for a bucket to chill the chardonnay. He disappered for over 10 mins., so we asked the hostess to find him. He returned with waters - but no bucket. He proceeded to take our food order.....our wine is still not chilled. We reminded him of a bucket and he responded with a very rude, "yea. I know. I'll get it: I'm very busy". WHAT?!?!? To say we were taken aback is an understatement! He FINALLY returned with a bucket, then FINALLY opened our wine....mmmm...warm chardonnay! We kept our exchanges brief after that. Besides, we really wanted to enjoy the ambience created by the waitstaff who were cleaning the restaurant around us. Nothing makes you feel more welcomed than waitstaff mopping floors around you. I'm sure they had a long day and wanted to get home, but 9pm on a Friday night shouldn't be the bewitching hour for a restaurant that closes at 10:30.
The overall experience was disappointing. My parents were in town, and my dad recalled liking Spasso, so we went for a nice relaxing dinner. Their food is wonderful, but not worth the experience we had. So unless Spasso trains their waitstaff on how to be more welcoming to their guests, I doubt we will be back anytime soon.
We enjoyed our evening. The food was good and portions were appropriate. Maybe a little over priced so I'm uncertain about the value as nearly every dish is close to $20. At that price point my expectations begin to rise and this meal and service fell a little short. That said, we will likely be back at some point in time.
Took 15mins to get a server which we had to ask for, then our drinks took another 15mins and after waiting a 1/2hr we got incorrect drinks. Then ordered appetizers with meals and appetizers came last. Nobody cared that we were even there. Place wasn't even busy. What a joke. Don't go.
